    ive got both the 18 volt and the 20 volt drills had them for 3 years never had a fault with them. Yes they are not a top brand But for the money they are spot on for in my shed.

    I bought the angle grinder which takes 230mm blade from lidl and the brushless 12v drill which came with two batteries and screw drill bits. Using the large angle after using the small angle grinder, I realised you need to be extra careful. But I like the 40v drill you have there it's the torque which is important.

    Why didn't you use any bits to test the torque, like a hole cutter or a flat blade, I'm not looking to buy one but was curious

    Great review. I have the same 40V combi drill but it has one irritating issue - it doesn't fit in the case with the battery attached. Maybe mine came in the wrong case - one for an earlier model perhaps?

      Good point, this is my second tool review, like the other, seems I’m more focused on it’s function than overall design, like I l totally missed it had a light built in. I don’t travel and where I use my tools I want them there ready and for use, so I rarely use the case. But it’s comments like yours that point me to other aspects that should I ever review another tool, I need to look at. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

    When drilling holes in metal , a drop of oil makes drill bits cut faster . I looked at isolating tools for years last year at work I was using it a lot ., so l went and bought one for myself ausume tool can’t be without one now 👍🇨🇦

    Hi Ian, the Aldi drill looks the biz and I like the idea of the all steel chuck, but was wondering if the chuck removal was via crosshead or Allen screw fixing?

  • @Mark...

    Regarding the starting speed of the drill, does it make any difference of you use the lower gear by changing it on the top of the drill?

    • @Man-in-da-shed
      @Man-in-da-shed  ปีที่แล้ว

      I will try that and let you know, it’s doubtful as changing the speed is a mechanical action rather than electronic, still there could be a sensor to detect which gear it’s in

    I find most brushless drills are giulty of undoing there chucks because of highspeed stopping involved. It will be interresting to see long term

    When you tighten the chuck after you hear the rachet clicks turn it 1 click in the opposite direction which locks the chuck and stops it from becoming loose.

    Ian, you are a tight Yorkie, if they were £5 you would probably still find a problem with them. I have several of the Forrex drills, drill drivers, impact drivers, battery grinder, and for the money they are the best value, all taking the same 20/40v battery. The only exception I have found is the Forrex long grass trimmer which uses the 20/40v battery and it's rubbish, it stalls as soon as it meets a piece of thick grass, and it should be mains 240 v powered.

    How different Ian is to me in the way he handles his tools. He just places these new tools on a heap of other equipment. I carefully place mind down on clear working surfaces - wherever that may be, say on a floor protection mat near a vehicle or working in a room, or on a bench is a workshop. I obviously need therapy! These Aldi tools seem to perform well and are a bargain price. Durability and reliability will only show after extended use. Battery packs (especially if you have three or four) tend to keep a user loyal to one brand, as they and the chargers are expensive.

      Some tools like my Micrometer or Vernier, I treat with care and always replace in their storage case, but am rough n ready with others, you don’t want to see how I treat wood chisels.
      I do aim to revisit these tools in six months.

    Alright Ian. I've watched this video the other day about a locking feature on drills which most people don't know about .could you try this on your new ferrix drill.th-cam.com/video/q1QHOKF8NO4/w-d-xo.html.noticed it clicked when you loosened the drill bit so it might have lock on it

    Don't buy Velbon tripods the threaded heads are total crap, it's very soft aluminium, not aircraft grade aluminium alloy which the respected tripod manufacturers use, and, the geared rising centre column also suffers from the same poor quality, value engineering design.

    • @Man-in-da-shed
      @Man-in-da-shed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t buy anything. Remember a scrapman don’t wants… just waits, of course the downside is when you get something it’s usually broke
