Cheap and very cheerful joe
Do people get rid of older tools? Surely they just end up with more tools. Maybe it’s just me 😂
All tap drill bits are an odd size, this is to accommodate a slighter larger tap bit. Great video. My desk vice is blue! Lidl have changed the colour.
Just to let Dan know, you are correct! Here is another way for Dan to answer the same question, the hole has to be big enough (but not too big or too small) to have enough room in the hole for the thread, so that you know what size bolt you need to fit the hole and that everything works like it should smoothly! Thanks, Dan, you help us, I figure I should help you if I can! Peace to the both of you!
The drills are the core sizes for the taps. As a general rule of thumb the core drill dia is smaller than the tap by the thread pitch, ie M5x.8 whereby M5 is the thread dia and .8 is the pitch (distance between the crests of the threads) so the core drill is 4.2, M3x.7 =2.3 core drill
I like the idea of Left handed secateurs, I am going to get on my LHD motorbike and go to Lidl.
More useful tools and at reasonable prices. Thanks for displaying these, and I must check them out myself. Dan, you need to go back to an electrical class, Crocs being Red for Negative and Black for Positive. These just might leave you having a shocking experience, lol.
Red minus Black positive on the crocodile clips… surely the convention is red positive and black negative? Great video content.
The clamp with the vice is to secure the collar of a power drill.
I've just come across this site. I'll definitely be watching from now on. Great review. I'm a fan of Lidl and Aldi tools. Great for the hobbyist and DIYers. 👍
That is exactly right those drills are the appropriate size for each tap
The "Carving/engraving Set" is actually a pyrography set for burning markings on wood and leather.
If you deduct the pitch size from the thread size you will end up with the drill size hence why the drills are odd sizes, hope this helps. Thanks for sharing this update regards Barry..
The correct term for the 'brush' is a 'file card'.
New subscriber here BTW.
good think four you tool box thanks lee
I buy lots of tools from Lidl. Mostly battery-powered hand tools and can't complain about the quality.
Good video again my husband got loads of parkside tools
10:50 Red = positive Black = negative 😆
Great video Dan
Entertaining and informative video, I bought 2 locking storage organisers for about £17 on a special offer which was a saving on buying 2 separately, still a good deal.
I didn’t find Aldi’s wood drill bits or Hss bits or masonry bits. A lot of good.
Ooppps a couple of others spotted the Red Black croc clips. The vice pipe grip looks more likely to be used to hold a drill or rotary tool? Depends what the instruction says
I think you mixed up the color code for the crocodile clip set, it shall be red for positive and black for negative and not the opposite that you said.
Hint for easier cleaning of files. Rub chalk into face of file. Dirt, shavings will not attach & stick to the file body, easier to clean out
Wow, my old metalwork teacher used to do that... Always wondered why?
The wire brush in the file set is called a file card
take the pitch of the thread off the diameter equals tapping drill size
Great informative video Dan, keep up the good work.
Love the left handed secateurs, can you find a chocolate fire guard for the next one
And a left handed hammer😂
I always enjoy your videos, Dan! However, the Amazon link for the craft set points to an article, which is not available: “Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.” Hope it will be available again, since it is such a bargain 😊
Your teacher gave you bad information. You can absolutely use files on wood, and they will often give a much better finish than a rasp (although rasps are generally better for fast removal of material - especially the Shinto saw-file rasp!)
The taps work OK for their price but I couldn't see them lasting terribly long. The tap holder is a bit nasty and requires constant retightening. The drill bits are appropriately sized to match each individual tap.
Never file wood? What muppet told you that?
Also, red - / black +, oooooops
crocodile clips--red is always positive not negative. all wiring red positive. I got the engraving kit last time they were in and lasted about 15 mins, sent back for a refund.
LET ME HUMBLY OFFER MY SINCERE APPOLOGIES FOR THAT SHOUTY COMMENT I MADE BELOW TO " Dan's model railways " FIRSTLY ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT AN EXCUSE THAT I SUFFER FROM DISLEXIA AND i FREQUENTLY GET THINGS WRONG....... But Dan was kind enough to calmly reply to my massive mistake by pointing out that i missed the link in the in his video description , So once again let me say i am so sorry Dan for getting it so wrong, and for your kind positive reply in reacting in a very calm manner. As you had every right to be angry with my rude inaccurate comment and so sorry for my glaring mistake...........Take care Dan and best wishes for an excellent and very helpful video on modelling tools and advice of what and where to buy for these useful bits and pieces.
Great review of tools.
Always enjoy your videos.
Aldi and Lidel tools are easy to find, check down the aisles.
Do you have a link for the Amazon Craft set, can’t find it.
x The Bigfella x
I bought the Parkside file set.
Not hugely impressed with the small ones, but the four large ones are very nice.
BTW: The file cleaner is called a File Card.
Great video Dan how's the hattons Andrew Barclay getting on?
Sat waiting a chip at the moment mate. I’ll hopefully get one next week.
Red +ve & Black -ve not the other way round 10:57
Maybe that's something you can fix yourself in the future who knows.
I've got the Workzone Screwdriver Set.
They're well made, with no misaligned/loose handles, and no badly ground tips.
Also, they're £5-99, not £6-99.
❤
Archimedes drill????
Pin vice.
Pin drill/pin vice, not an Archimedes drill.
Just checked Amazon it is £16.99.
Before you buy any files, learn how to clean them with a file card. That's what the blue thing is called.
try editing - most of the bit about the storage boxes was just your mat.
As you say, for a beginner its an ideal purchase. Now, that's a pin vice not an archimedes drill and as for tapping drills you should be using a 1.6mm to cut a M2 thread. I wish you reviewers would do your homework before doing your reviews, passing on false information to the uninitiated is rather pointless.
Apologies for the drill, hardly false information as i’ve called them archimedes for years.
@@dansmodelrailways7886 Then you've been wrong for years..😂
@@Gary-Seven-and-Isis-in-1968 nothing new there! 😂
Think you have prices all wrong ,6.99 don’t think so.
Lidl dose Not have an S on it .
...and this is how you spell does.
@@bayadere8308Not, in this instance is with a lower case n = not, teacher!
YOU GAVE NO LINK FOR THE AMAZON TOOL BOX , SO IF I WANTED TO TRY IT I COULD NOT FIND IT ON AMAZON .SO YOUR VIDEO WAS A WASTE OF TIME ...............MANY THANKS
