They gave gamers the finger during the crypto mining boom, and are doing it again with the AI boom. In a few years, when AI is no longer the new hotness, they'll be crawling back to gamers. Nope.
They didn't give gamers the finger. They just produced very few units and used the 'shortage' marketing gimmick just to raise their GPU's ridiculous prices. Even if they ever release a low msrp gpu, they'll just produce very few units or sell very few of them to make insane profits. Trillion dollar company mindset.
I have started downvoting every video that makes a clickbaity claim in its title and/or thumbnail, and to unfollow/block the abusing TH-cam channel. Nah beating a 4060 level GPU (that the 4070m is) is still crazy, we waited long enough for APUs to at least get close to Polaris and now this is coming. But I get what you’re saying
Where do you get this stuff? There is NOTHING that Intel has done that suggests they won't honor warranties. And could you ACTUALLY SAY what the STORY IS? You didn't even cover the story in a way a person can make sense of it unless they already know details of warranties, etc............ So, for anyone who is curious about details without the sensationalist crap, Intel CPUs have a 3 year warranty which is typically long enough for any problem to pop up even if the CPU is being stressed. One has to REMEMBER that not every part is going to fail because there will be plenty of die, as in over 50% that can handle the higher speeds, or won't get as hot so they'll probably never have a problem. Intel added 2 years to the warranty for affected CPUs, so it's now 5 years. As far as a class action suit good luck with that. The HARDWARE is fine. The microcode was too aggressive. Intel is fixing it. They WILL give all the details once they've done their full analysis and that's the best that can be expected. Assume that what Intel did was not to intentionally damage CPUs. When they tested the CPUs they could have had a good batch of wafers that gave them excellent die. You cannot ASSUME that Intel knew that their microcode was pushing the die too much. And EVEN IF they have delayed getting information out to consumers, so WHAT? They HAVE to do thorough investigation to understand the EXTENT of the problem, not just say "yeah we THINK ........." And if Intel replaces affected CPUs what possible class action suit can you bring against them? So, lawyers looking to make money? WOW what a story. Imagine, lawyers wanting to cash in on something. TH-camr sensationalism.
to be fair, thats a 4070m, which beats a 3070m by 20ish%, the 3070 beats teh 3070m by over 50%, so it's not as good as a standalone 3070. nothing to write home about yet, but if they could actually beat something like the 3070 with an apu i'd be blown away

@@3polygonsFrom my own experience, power isnt everything when it comes to strong APUs like the 780m. There will always be tasks where weaker discrete GPUs beat stronger integrated ones. Good luck having an APU with 10 times the power of an 780m-APU but then it fails at blender or Unity or some videoediting software. Maybe when DDR7 is out and has SOC with 20K Hz I dunno.
The new ryzen apu is RDNA 3.5. This = NV 1660 speed. Zen 5 was also rumored to be 40% faster than Zen 4! In the end, it was maybe 5-7%! The Zen 5 APU will definitely not give you the speed of the 4070! it's 100%! Not even the 3070!
Class action lawsuit where the consumer will receive about $20 instead of a refund or a replacement cpu that they've paid around $600 for and the $400 motherboard that only accepts those bad processors 😮. Looks like the lawyers will be the only people who actually get any benefit from this lawsuit and it'll be cheaper than Intel having to do any recalls or replacing all those broken 13th and 14th cpus.
The laws are created by governments, the laws protect and create corporations, then the government complains about the results of their own laws, why? to make corporations work for the government in different ways. So the issue is not companies, the issue is the system.
An APU that's as good as an RTX 4070. That's insane tbh. You could have a decent gaming pc and it doesn't even have a dedicated gpu in it. I like it. That actually saves a lot of money.
We already knew that if a CPU was bugging out that a new microcode wouldn't fix it right? The BIOS updates with the newer microcode is just to stop those that arent already busted going faulty... Or am I missing something?
Haters gonna hate, but these Strix APU's are a pretty good thing to have happening right now. AMD laptop users with no Nvidia GPU included could probably use an upgrade right around now. And frankly, near par 4060 laptop performance is pretty good. Sure, there is better out there, but these laptops tend to be pretty cheap comparatively to the better ones, while doing 'enough'. I just wish the screen quality is better this go around, because last generations of their APU's this past few years have seeming all had, or most had, sub par monitors attached to them. Sub par in the sense that absolutely no colour accurate graphics work could ever be done with them. Which is a dang shame.
Everyone knows that every RTX4070 mobile GPU is based on AD106 which is the same as RTX4060 desktop GPU. So basically AMD is only beating the most entry level GPU from 40 series line up. Just cause its name is “RTX4070m” doesn’t mean it’s the actual 4070.
Looks like consumers are getting scammed yet again, NVIDIA is killing what's left of the dying PC game market. So the 5090 is not even released yet and already we are talking about 6090, so this makes the 5090 obsolete already.... Why hasn't there been massive class action suits, anything with "90" at the end is a fire hazard. I purchased a 4070 for that reason, to stay away from fire hazards and CRAZY temperatures. Pretty soon you will need dedicated 30A breakers to run those GPUs, it's pathetic.........
MCN rtx 6090 probably will cost 3K because how much they like to overcharge costumers they probably want to pass some of the developers cost down to the costumer even though it will save them a lot in the long run. Think we will see a price drop only a few generations in MCN.
Pretty sure rx8k series will be short lived. I'm thinking it's a stopgap measure because they couldn't quite pull off full mcm for the graphics core in time.
my graphics card (and CPU) choice are mostly dictated by how warm they get and how much power they use (for decent performance). And there is currently looks bad for Intel on CPU's and AMD on GPU's. Would be nice to have a real choice again.
AMD 300mm² GPU with 256bit memory bus ran at 8.5Ghz. Nvidia 190mm^2 GPU with 128bit memory bus ran with 14Ghz or 16Ghz. (4070m is underclocked lower power version of 4060 ti). On the other the 300mm² chip also has rest of the system IO that is normally in IO chiplet, so die size comparison isn't exact. But based on AMD GPU listings of 32CU 7600XT being 200mm^2 made in TSMC 6nm process node and Strix halo having 40CU the die size comparison should be similar. So yes. This is mostly a GPU which has added interfaces for CPU chiplets and memory interface replaced by something that's support memory type good for CPU with width needed for GPU bandwidth. Instead of nearly all integrated GPU:s that don't have memory bandwidth nor size to actually compete with discrete GPU:s. You should be expecting to pay quite a bit extra for having that kind of integrated GPU.
RDNA 5 is MCM too. it has 3 GCDs each GCD has 64 WGPs for a total of 192 WGPs which is 384 Compute Units which is 4 times the compute units of RX 7900XTX. if we take MCM latency increase into account, RDNA5 flagship will be 3 times faster than RX 7900XTX in rasterization and 6 times faster than RX 7900XTX in ray tracing thanks to RDNA4 bringing full hardware based raytracing to Radeon GPUs. it will beat RTX 6090 and leave RTX 5090 in the dust.
nvidia didn't create the AI market, they just monopolized on it when it started to get famous, but AI was a thing long before that, they just made a certain AI project dependant on NVIDIA tech just before it became famous and then put a lot of marketing in that, but the tech actually was not designed by nvidia at all and already was completely ready when they did it. it might have come to mainstream attention slightly later without nvidia since they marketed it to the world and created a hype, however nvidia did this when it started to get mainstream attention, next to that AI actually would be better as in faster and more energy efficient without that nvidia AI monopolizing since they intentionally made most AI dependant on some inefficient legacy tech using their marketshare and them not supporting modern tech intentionally, it would be many times better without them being assholes, as in more efficient, faster, cheaper, more advanced, etc.
If Stryx Halo has ROCm compatibility, it will be a monster in AI workloads (specially if it has access to a huge pool of memory), much like Apple M series but better, and that will start to eat into nVidia marketshare.
As a primary desktop user: I'll be more excited when Strix Halo is a desktop chip. Having said that: with all the tech stuff coming it, it is a possibility that I missed being mentioned as coming to desktop platforms. If so, I apologize for my lack of understanding.
It will more than likely happen, considering halo can be configured tdp wise to 120w, if it was being restricted to hand helds and laptops I don't think they would've shown a 120w tdp config option.
I am so confused... the MI300 IS heterogenous MCM... which includes several GPUS tied to one CPU... all sharing the same HBM. Not only is AMD ahead of Nvidia... they are heterogenous meaning unlike Grace that needs PCI to GPU communication, AND DDR5 stack for CPU, and separate HBM for GPU... AMD communicates locally across HBM between CPU and GPUs.

They just produced very few units and used the 'shortage' marketing gimmick just to raise their GPU's ridiculous prices. Even if they ever release a low msrp gpu, they'll just produce very few units or sell very few of them to make insane profits.
Trillion dollar company mindset.
100 percent agreed
I have started downvoting every video that makes a clickbaity claim in its title and/or thumbnail, and to unfollow/block the abusing TH-cam channel. If enough people start doing this, the perfidy will stop.
In this particular case, the comparison is not between an APU and an RTX 4070 but between an APU and a *laptop* version of 4070 which is an entirely different thing.
They HAVE to do thorough investigation to understand the EXTENT of the problem, not just say "yeah we THINK ........."
And if Intel replaces affected CPUs what possible class action suit can you bring against them? So, lawyers looking to make money? WOW what a story. Imagine, lawyers wanting to cash in on something.
TH-camr sensationalism.
to be fair, thats a 4070m, which beats a 3070m by 20ish%, the 3070 beats teh 3070m by over 50%, so it's not as good as a standalone 3070. nothing to write home about yet, but if they could actually beat something like the 3070 with an apu i'd be blown away
I had read somewhere that the 4070m was close to a 4060. Is this possible?
@@3polygons i’m not as familiar with the 4060 but i think it’s not as powerful as the 3070, and i’m playing 1440p low graphics with stutters for cs2 and fortnite everything performance optimized and i’m not happy with my 3070 so id need a sizeable upgrade i think
@@JazzyGazzy-nj8rn I see... ty for the info.
@@JazzyGazzy-nj8rn4060 pc < 3060ti pc
The new ryzen apu is RDNA 3.5. This = NV 1660 speed. Zen 5 was also rumored to be 40% faster than Zen 4! In the end, it was maybe 5-7%! The Zen 5 APU will definitely not give you the speed of the 4070! it's 100%! Not even the 3070!
if amd apus really beat a 4070, even 4060, i'll be making a mini pc
Only Ryzen 4070 can beat Rtx 4070 and Ryzen 6700 XTI
I haven't got anymore spare kidneys or livers left to buy a RTX 5000 series GPU
6090 comes complete with a custom 24-pin house burning power connector!!!
L
It has to be hooked to the 230V/50A line normally reserved for air conditioning and charging electric cars.
I have been an AMD fanboy for over a decade. Good luck with that folks.
The ryzen 4070 will crush them all with its performance.
8700G was supposed to be game changer too....but it had so little L3 cache it was disappointment.
Your title is misleading. It is not a full 4070 but notebook version, which is completely different.
Nvidia is IT mafia. The sooner you acknowledge this the sooner you will save the market.
6090 will cost $2,000 down an arm a leg and your first born
Title: Strix Halo CRUSHES the 4070!!!
Reality: it still loses to the 4070 and oh yeah it's not even the desktop 4070
Nothing will beat the Ryzen 4070
Just when you are considering AMD AI HX 370 laptops there is talk about a monster AMD APU around the block.
I like it. That actually saves a lot of money.
ryzen 4070 is real holy shit
Hyped for the brand new Ryzen 4070!!
The coping under the AMD fanboys when it comes to NVidia is just sad now.
So AMD is really competitive with both Intel and Nvidia. And they're fully integrated with Radeon? Oh
6090 leaks already?
There's no point buying a 5 series, then.
It beat the mobile 4070. That's a big stretch to say it beat the desktop version.
Let's just wait for the price tag. Like at what price an apu can beat rtx 4070. After all it is price that matters in the end
THIS TRULY IS OUR RYZEN 4070
Strix Halo Mini PC will be an incredible gaming machine.
Who searched for Ryzen 4070?
Me lmao 🤣
As far as Intel and the alleged class action lawsuits, GREAT, we'll all get our $10 gift cards, whilst the lawyers get millions of $.
THE RYZEN 4070
THE RYZEN 4070 IS REAL 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So this is the ryzen 4070??
I would add that these are leaks RDNA3 was supposed to be better than 4090 and in the end it is on level with 4080. I hope we get MCM gpus soon
if that happens that would be a true ryzen moment for radeon. exactly what we need to get Nvidia off their (almost) monopoly
Compute core numbers do not scale linearly your delusional as hell.
You’re short of brain cells if you think it’s beating the 6090.
I have read about some github project that can compile CUDA on amd graphic cards. Would be nice to try it out with this
Strix halo is the code name for ryzen 4070
The ryzen 4070 is a real thing now 🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️
Intel's not paying the poor hard workers are paying
nvidia didn't create the AI market, they just monopolized on it when it started to get famous, but AI was a thing long before that, they just made a certain AI project dependant on NVIDIA tech just before it became famous and then put a lot of marketing in that, but the tech actually was not designed by nvidia at all and already was completely ready when they did it. it might have come to mainstream attention slightly later without nvidia since they marketed it to the world and created a hype, however nvidia did this when it started to get mainstream attention, next to that AI actually would be better as in faster and more energy efficient without that nvidia AI monopolizing since they intentionally made most AI dependant on some inefficient legacy tech using their marketshare and them not supporting modern tech intentionally, it would be many times better without them being assholes, as in more efficient, faster, cheaper, more advanced, etc.
i don't care how much the 6090 is gonna cost
i am gonna get it bc of the funny number
Damn I’m gonna get the Ryzen 4070
i hope my 3080ti holds up well so that i can upgrade to the 6090 instead
okay for gods sake DO VPN PROVIDERS THINKS ALL WE CARE ABOUT IS WATCHING OTHER COUNTRIES NETFLIX SHOWS ??????????????????????????????????
THIS GUY IS MAKING UP A STORY BASED ON WHAT LITTLE HE KNOWS ,
why not tell from the title that it's a note book 4070 and stop wasting our time
If Stryx Halo has ROCm compatibility, it will be a monster in AI workloads (specially if it has access to a huge pool of memory), much like Apple M series but better, and that will start to eat into nVidia marketshare.
Literally the Ryzen 4070
As a primary desktop user: I'll be more excited when Strix Halo is a desktop chip. Having said that: with all the tech stuff coming it, it is a possibility that I missed being mentioned as coming to desktop platforms. If so, I apologize for my lack of understanding.
There is no information about any new APUs coming to desktop yet
Ryzen 5000 & 8000 had 'G' series APUs... no reason not to have a 9000G with Strix Halo
It will more than likely happen, considering halo can be configured tdp wise to 120w, if it was being restricted to hand helds and laptops I don't think they would've shown a 120w tdp config option.
All we need now is Chinese emgineers to put said APU on desktop MBs
Title: Ryzen 4070 Won & Lost
Hopefully this is the next gen bump needed to push handheld gaming devices to that next generation.
The Ryzen 4070 is REAL!!!
it's a 4070M but that's still pretty impressive for a APU if this is true
The ryzen 5 9950x wins 😮
A gaming console made with that apu would be nuts.
Bro hasn't heard the news of PS5 pro
The Ryzen 4070 users all watched this video.
this guy thinks NVidia will rbing down the price what a joke
I am so confused... the MI300 IS heterogenous MCM... which includes several GPUS tied to one CPU... all sharing the same HBM. Not only is AMD ahead of Nvidia... they are heterogenous meaning unlike Grace that needs PCI to GPU communication, AND DDR5 stack for CPU, and separate HBM for GPU... AMD communicates locally across HBM between CPU and GPUs.
INTEL WAS THE FIRST USING AN AMD APU
