  • A afternoon session at the survival bushcraft camp with a tarp deployed to give shelter from rain. Learning to use an Axe by choking it so you can do more technical work. Camp coffee and relaxing in nature, target practice with a old school catapult.

Hi, yeah that pesky north south divide. Thinking of putting the bushcraft shelter on Air b&b so all the northerners can get a taste of rural Cornwall on the cheap...lol. Not sure I will have many takers. Thanks for watching and commenting, Andy.

Hi, going a fraction bigger in summer holidays but as you know......boy its time consuming finding a location, gathering materials, construction, and redesigning and rebuilding if necessary. All this before you actually use it.Thanks for watching, Andy.

Love the shelter with the living roof ive got a similar 3 sided lean to and have an oilskin tarp over the cedar ridge poles but never thought of growing a roof with moss, its a shame to have an expensive oilskin slowly deteriorating and i go out and sweep snow and leaves off of it to check what condition its in. Might give the living roof a try

Hi, I have considered using a tarp for a roof liner myself. I found the best areas for water protection is when the moss is overlapping just like roof tiles. It is satisfying knowing I may have built a construction in the wood's but it is actually now a living life form. Thanks for watching, I hope your next shelter build is a success for yourself. Andy.

@hiddenvalleyfootpaths2561 thanks how long did it take to get to the stage it's at now and is there any special technique involved or you just place it on and overlap like you said cheers

Hi, it was poor conditions with a stump, wobbly leaf litter and on a slope with the camera in the way and raining.
In my defence even with that poor effort the starting edge was pretty darn good on my equipment I had done previously at home at some point. This was not a sharpening video just adding context to the point on choking a axe. Thanks for watching, Andy.Oh......I do have a sharpening video way back in my catalogue if your interested. Many thanks for watching and commenting, Andy.
