I’ll give this lady one thing over other’s training videos: she actually conducts a “training” and doesn’t fill her time with “I’m not here to hold your hand” or shaming her downline for not working hard enough. Other than that, it’s still and MLM and she’s selling a trash “opportunity” to people.
I agree with you, this lady's training is waaay more professional than basically every other mlm training call I've ever seen. She actually brings up relevant upcoming dates and information and outlines steps of what she wants you to do instead of "tough love" bs. Too bad she's training people how to be scammers instead of anything useful!
Yes, she does this in a professional way and in a home office, unlike the younger boss babes with screaming kids in the room and swearing like a sailor on shore leave. S0 professional 🙄 😂
I'm Gen X and I don't talk to anyone on the phone unless I'm waiting for my car to be done at the repair shop, or it's someone I'm already very close to. And there aren't very many of those!
When I was 20, I was (trad) married and had just left my church to move so my ex husband could go to college, and he gave some Mary Kay rep my info and she came over. I was like, I don’t wear makeup, I have no money, and I don’t do sales. You can do your little demo but you won’t get anything out of this interaction. At one point she said I must save a ton of money on makeup because my eyes are so small 😂 sorry, you’re not going to neg me into any sales today, lady!
Seriously? She said that about your eyes? Ugh!!!!!! My mother inlaw was a Mary Kay director and she made comments about how I dressed and stuff. Using mlm tactics on your future daughter inlaw is never a good idea lol
She's also really good on camera because of her TV experience, and is one of the few who actually gives concrete information on her lives instead of just blathering. It's still awful and manipulative, but I can see why she would have a big downline with lots of followers. It's awful because she could do so much good with her talents and intelligence, but instead she chooses to be a scammer.
Wow, she was definitely a newscaster. Is she legit doing a whole “show” (she actually said “before I got on air”) to one person as if she’s presenting to a whole crowd? Bless her heart. And wait - a pack of cards and a domino set are “gorgeous”?!? Bless her heart.
I am always here for the Mary Kay tea. “Weekday or this Saturday?” When I say this kind of pressure would put my teeth on edge. Woman, you try to push yourself on me like that and your messages are getting ignored until further notice.
I never knew a single Mary Kay rep who actually WORE makeup in real life. My friend started selling years ago and was doing makeovers, and asked me to come over to actually DO the makeup because she had no clue how🙃
Brittany is so thrilled that these men are running Mary Kay as a simple little woman couldn’t be responsible for doing such important things - a little silly woman is only suited to making pin money - cos let’s face it that’s what it is. She is so old fashioned and patronising I CANNOT stand it.
Ex Mary Kay consultant here - they don’t keep track of anything in regards to customers unless it happens to be ordered through your web address link. Otherwise they encourage you to buy thousands of dollars in product to keep in your home because “we compete with Walgreens and Sephora, it needs to be available now!”
Gen X, and I also will do anything not to talk on the phone if it isn't for my job or the only way to contact someone. My favorite saying..."Is this textable?" 😂😂
No sales to the customer are tracked. Consultants ARE the customers. And YES consultants buy their way to prizes ALL THE TIME. We had a consultant who bought/cheated her way to a car! Then it all came out and she was demoted and had to return the car.
"What's the number one thing we said all women wear, even if they don't wear a lot of makeup? They all wear lipstick!" Come on, have they just... forgot that there are women who wear 0 makeup at all?
I will say this. At least this training is about actually selling the product. If it weren’t for the TYPE of company it’s for, I don’t think this would be considered a problem. It’s high pressure sales tactics, but for commission based jobs, that’s how you get based. And if we strip the recruiting portion from an MLM, it’s not much more than that.
Mary Kay fascinates me. It seems like there is so much hand holding-like you said copy and pasting. Do you think because it’s older ladies? I wonder if they will be able to rebrand for younger generations. You look amazing by the way. The lighting really highlights your eyes.
@@TheSamDee as we say in the South, Lawd have mercy and bless their little hearts. I’m 61, so I can say it. I saw someone say they watched the Mary Kay documentary. I found it on TH-cam. I was actually in MK for a couple months back in the early 00's, I never did any of the "free facials" because it was so weird and awkward for my introvert self. They also had the monthly meetings which were very weird and culty, with a lot of Jesus talk among the MLM sales crap. I consider myself an "agnostic" Christian because I generally don't trust formal churches and I prefer to keep my beliefs private. I also hate when faith gets intertwined with other things like school, business, and work. No wonder I didn't stay long in MK, lol. The meetings especially were sooo strange and uncomfortable for me, I felt like I had nothing in common with the other women who were either really young 18-20 yr olds starting college or women with kids, neither of which I was. I was in my late 20s with no interest in marriage or kids, so I couldn't relate to any of them. I've also always hated sales pitches being done to me, and I hated doing that to other people because it was always so fake. No, the products don't "sell themselves", lol. If they did I might have stayed longer!
Not a millennial but a gen z. If you're not saved in my phone as a contact, I'm not picking up. I read the transcript of the voicemail to see if I need to call back. No voicemail, no callback. It's that simple. I also sometimes save people as contacts titled DO NOT ANSWER so i know not to pick up. I would probably do this to a Mary Kay rep.
I’m a GenXer and I’ll go one step further. If I don’t recognize it, I probably won’t even bother to check to voicemail to call back 😂. It will be bulk deleted
I worked with someone who got fired because she had a side job selling real estate and was caught multiple times talking to clients on her work phone (this was before everyone had a cell phone) during paid time. It took multiple instances because she had to get educated about the policy and receive warnings that were documented in her HR file before she could be fired.
When I was in MK, they taught us every week to give the option, is this week Saturday or this week Monday? It's a sales tactic , as you explained. This back in prehistoric times when we had to physically go to a meeting in person. We had to wear tights, skirts, heels and our blazers. Just for an hour and a half of sales tactics. It was so weird.
2:42 Back in my Mary Kay days, we were told the only reason it's not a woman is because they hadn't found a woman who embodied the Mary Kay values AND had the qualifications necessary for the job 🙄
Was first exposed to MK tactics back in the 90s. They haven't really changed. Effective for some but I personally find them a bit pushy/obnoxious. Still use the products but order for myself.
My heart literally hurts for her and those people who desperately want ….anything from Mary Kay let alone the top. I have a pit in my stomach for their hopeless hope.
"You're on the phone with her, that's why calling is so great, you guys!" Yeah, cause if they're talking to you in real-time they feel more pressured than if you're just texting them and they can ignore the message. Yikes.
Omg she used my name which is a rare female name. I never hear my name in these videos. She hooked me,I need to call her for a no pressure fall make over…
I was in Mary Kay for 4 years back about 5 years ago. Calls like this where she said “are you on track for star” give me immediate flashbacks of my director sending texts “make sure you’re on track for star” which is why I was $20k in debt (with the Mary Kay credit card, of course 😑).
Unless I had already decided to buy something, there's no way I'd answer my phone. I'll bet her downline leave lots of voicemails because I think that customers actually answering the phone is a rarity.

So they've combined all of the fall months into one look book and they're centering and targeting men and getting men to purchase for themselves and others. All party companies are only tracking reps purchases and they have no idea what actual sales are happening. its sick
The eyeshadow burned my lids. They used to have a lip product that would change the lipstick color when put onto the lipstick. It was a sort of golden color
If she can pamper 6 people as easily as 1, there’s not much pampering going on. So they’re supposed to text/call the last 2 days of the month, then hit the same people up the first two days of the next month? And then the following month act like it’s a new situation? No lipstick is a very millennial thing I feel because I was the same way full face, no lipstick for years until recently I think it stems from the concealer lips of the early 00's 😅
The matte eyeshadow and liquid lipstick (lip gloss? I cant tell what formula that lip product is) look pretty. But they're soo basic. almost every eyeshadow palette has a brown like that, its a basic base and transition shade, and that more deep brown is a very basic lip color, especially for darker skin tones. Im gonna bet a nice elf, wet and wild, or nyx eyeshadow palette and lipstick are cheaper than MK too. Why would you ever buy MK?
It's not weird that the consultant needs to pay (although it is cringy) - the directors don't want to pay for everything out of pocket amd the consultants are notoriously cheap (I mean, they have to be because they're broke). This crap is so old fashioned. "On target for Star Consultant" OMG Yesssss pay all that money for products you won't sell AND THEN you'll get a tiny little fake gem star to put on your your costume jewelery LADDER PIN.

She was a newscaster in the past, don't know where though. It shows really strongly in how she talks and the "format" she uses to present her trainings.
Hi 👋 This is my first post on one of your videos! So... I was in MK for over 13 years. I was a Sales Director for 11 of those years and "earned" 4 cars, but I never really made any money 🥴 (that's a story for another day). I've been out now for 14 years. I kid you not, after all these years... everything she is saying is exactly what I was taught by my upline and what i taught my downline 🤦♀️ Nothing has changed. Same scripts, same manipulation tactics. Man, it makes me cringe! Also, to answer your question... the company never had us report actual retail sales. They just "estimated" our sales based on our wholesale orders. So if I ordered $600 wholesale, they assumed I sold $1200. Not! People (myself included) always ordered way more than necessary to rank up, keep rank, keep cars, get prizes, etc. The only place actual sales were ever reported was on your tax return... and that's where you'd see how much you ordered vs. how much you sold 🫣
So she asks those women to be her "models" and as a "gif", then get to BUY lipstick. Half-price, sure, but it's still buying a product from her. That's kinda hilarious, how this thing is worded: as if the customer is doing something for her, being her model - that's a service - and gets a gift for it, but the gift is just that the customer has to BUY a product :D. Amazing worth-smith. And it's drowned in this overly long, kinda ranty message, so you can miss it. Think that you go as a model, do something nice for her, and then get a gift in exchange - which would be logical, bc models don't have to pay for the product, right? But that's not what's what's happening, it's literally just an invitation to buy something. Getting a product half-price isn't really an appropriate gift for someone modeling for you, you know.I mean I guess one COULD argue that the promotion is a gift, that's why this is so brilliant. I'm pretty certain it's written like that so people don't actually pay attention and think they get a product for free, but when they notice, they can't even cal her out, bc technically there is some kind of a "gift". But they still have to spend money to get the gift, which kinda cancels out the idea of it being a gift for modeling.
She would make a GREAT pre-k or kindergarten teacher. I feel like students would love her so much lol
