    There can never be too many popup tutorials..I,ve fell into a terrible drop knee/pigdog pop ... at 4:13....Theres alot of debate as to if the centre or top left is the best way to start out..some say the one in the centre is too slow and drags you back in the longrun.. Kelly Slater himself said that it was horrible when he saw some one do it on dry land at his wavepool but then other surf coaches say the "walk up" technique is best.

      The latter want you to get your photo op so their client can claim to have "surfed". If your instructor doesn't insist you learn to bodysurf first then you know something is off. Surfing is about riding waves, not just standing up on a board.

    I've been surfing for almost 10yrs but my problem is my back foot always lands in front of the tail pad.How can I remedy this and get my back foot on the tail pad on popup?

      Shorter board or have your hands down lower on your chest as you push the board down do your take off - this should automatically make your feet go lower.

    Is there a tutorial that talks about back foot placement?

    • @barefoot_surf
      @barefoot_surf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Samuel! We have a tutorial on both “footwork” and “stance” that you may benefit from. You can find them all here! Enjoy

      It's about making them feel "pro" and therefore more likely to keep surfing, just stop focusing on others and their "level" and enjoy surfing!

    Thanks very much for this video, there is tons of useful information, that I will need to try out rather sooner than later. One question though regarding the hand placement when popping up, I've seen in a different video, that whether you're taking off fron- or backside, your hand placement will be the same for both, i.e. your right hand will be further back for regular stance and your left hand for goofy stance, since your front knee will always point in the same direction as well. What is your take on that? Don't mean to be click baiting at all, but here is the video I'm referring to already with timestamp to the exact part of the video th-cam.com/video/hZ6ifnlxKkk/w-d-xo.html Thanks again for the great content, I really appreciate it.

      Hey Sebestian, happy we have been able to help! Thanks for the awesome feedback. Regarding your hand placement question, you are absolutely correct. Your hand placement does not change and remains the same, regardless of which way you are going. Your front knee does always point in the same direction. This is what we teach on our coaching retreats and is what should be demonstrated on the video. This is an error on our part. Thanks for picking up on it! Hope this answers your question. Please let us know if you have any more.

    I agree with alot of things you are saying but everywhere is different and you are way to slow but thank you for teaching turtles how to surf... it's way more simple it's pop up and go the angle the wave is going. Don't go to your knees and push up with both hands and your feet should land on the board at the same time. I personally let my back land about a quarter second faster than my left
