The fact that 3 was designed more or less to conclude the series is the only thing that made it any good. a 4th installation is COMPLETELY unecessary.
Faith Simon of course I'm not sure seen as it's not out yet but Toy Story 4 is being written by the best of the best in Pixar. I agree that Toy Story 3 was a perfect wrap up for the series but I'm feeling reasonably confident that they know what they're doing with this.

I saw Cars 3, And TBH it shoud've been the second film in the franchise, not cars 2, Cars 3 had a decent story and I actually loved it

The thing I dislike about Cars 3 (and it also makes me uncomfortable) is that Lightning McQueen acted strange in the beginning with that lemon-yellow girl car (I know her name is Cruz, I just gave her a nickname). Remember how he acted when he first met Sally, the blue car in the first movie that he apparently loves? He acted quite the same with Lemon-yellow at first. I get that it might've been so both girls and boys could enjoy Cars 3, but it's disturbing. Lightning is much older than Lemons as well.

I loved Cars 3, too, and as long as Cars 3 exists, I'm okay with Cars 2. Just so long as we got the serious and heartfelt conclusion we hoped for.
@Gabriel 2020 The cars are like, humanized. They can talk, they act like humans, everything is like humans except a few things that are adapted to the fact they're living cars. Just because they're not entirely human doesn't mean it's acceptable to throw in an old man acting flirtingly with a much younger women when he's already in a relationship. Humans should not read, watch or listen to things like that and enjoy it, just because it's about non-humans.

Coco is a movie about a 12-year old boy and was inspired by Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead). Look on Pixar's website about it!

CN had a golden age, a silver age and a dark age. We are currently on the cusp of a new silver age thanks to shows like Steven universe and adventure time. But CN is about due for a new champion to add to their roster.

OPINION TIME: having rewatched all of these recently, I would say that Meet the Robinson’s is terrible (the bad guy is very funny tho), Bolt is good if not a little forgettable, and Lilo and Stitch is great. TENG is great too.

Is Pixar failing? No, its the fans who put them in too high of a pedestal. So when they do fall, they fall hard because fans expect way too much.
There needs to be a balance of reality vs expectations.

This is Ghibli films and their fans in a nutshell.
But on the other hand, the point still stands; Pixar may not be financially failing, but they're failing to be Pixar. Why should we not expect the quality of their other movies? I get not expecting another Toy Story, but when nearly all their movies have been great, with great movie after great movie, why would we expect any less?
They redeemed themselves with Coco.

Out of all of these sequels, only The Incredibles 2 was demanded, the rest were movies no one asked for and the audience can go on without.
That is very true. Practically not even a year after the Incredibles was made and people wanted one. If anything my biggest concern is for the little kiddies that go to see it and have not seen the first one. More specifically the ones that are considered the bane of the internet..........

Well, Ellen did have a campaign/ joke that she wanted a Finding Nemo 2. Finding Dory wasn't bad, IMO it was pretty good. The Incredibles 2 I'm excited about too.

Well in Pixar's defence, inside out and good dinosaur weren't really original movies.
The voices/emotions in your head has been done several times.
Good dinosaur was just, "walking with dinosaurs meets Ice age."
But it is hard to come up with creative ideas in this day and age.
Cars 2 was just James Bond meets cars.

I disagree. Just because an idea has been done before doesn't make it unoriginal. The originality is in the way you try to tell the story. It's the methodology and the unique twists it's explored through.

Yeah there was a video game that was a continuation of the movie, around that time video game movies were like that
Cars 2 is all on John Lasseter. Like the "Mater gets into wacky shenanigans around the world" thing was something that was in his head since the Cars international premieres press tours and the Spy stuff was retooling a deleted "Drive-In Theater" film sequence.
Furthermore, the Cars franchise is so damned important to John that he was heavily involved in getting that Cars Land as detailed and laser-focused on Radiator Springs perfectly as it did and Cars is the only Pixar franchise to have some Lucasfilm Story Group style "Continuity Overseer" position to ensure consistency across all spinoffs.

Happy Feet deserves a lot more credit than it gets. It's technical merits are amazing and I thought that a lot of the humor in it was actually pretty good. The only thing I would ever say was bad about it was the shitty eco message.

To be honest I avoided Brave and The Good Dinosaur for a long time because I heard they were meh. But tbh I loved TGD and it made me cry. Brave was enjoyable too. They tried something different. I think Finding Dory approaches greatness in its own right. Monsters University did feel unnecessary I agree. I haven’t seen Cars 2.
Chris Palmieri for some reason Brave reminds me a lot of How to train your dragon from Dreamworks (my fave Dreamworks movie)

When looking at the box office numbers for The Good Dinosaur, you have to keep in mind it had a TON of production issues, over many years, even changing directors at one point. All things considered, I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did. I enjoyed it.

That production issue thing is killer as Brave was also greatly affected by a change-up in roles. That's why it feels even like two movies. But sometimes people can overcome that issue like the original plans for Zootopia being all about Nick rather than what we have all about Judy.
This is off topic, but what do you think of the upcoming animated movie from LAIKA *Kubo and the Two Strings*? The only movie I have seen from the studios was Coraline (they showed it at school when I was in the 8th grade), but from the trailers and style of the film I am excited to see it. And I did really like Coraline when I first saw it, maybe I will try to see it again.

How has it changed pixar when they're still churning out sequels. Coco is a pretty good movie but it doesn't make up for almost 6 years of movies not worth watching with the exception of inside out.

I do like sequels but the past few years everything that has come out has been a remake or sequel which Pixar is also doing. Movies and TV at the minute i find disappointing and hard to find a really good one

To me, it proved that Disney was back to its former glory. Not just hand drawn, but the story and characters, not to mention the songs, were all wonderful. Hell, for the first time since Brother Bear, do we have new characters from a film as mascots at a Disney park, and we have a new Disney Princess, and a villain worthy to join the ranks of all the past greats!

IDK i thought that toy story 3 was complete garbage, and that finding dory was 3/5 star. The only reason they were successful was the nostalgia factor. finding dory was at least better than the average sequel, but it was nowhere near the quality of the original

No matter how Disney handles Pixar or what happens in the future, I will always respect them for their original movies like Toy Story or Wall-E. I’m not very old, I’m still a young teen, but I love Wall-E. I owned a
Wall-E dvd as a kid and I’m not sure how many times I actually watched it but it probably wouldn’t be an exaggeration if I said I watched it a solid 60 times. The only movie that comes close to that for me is the fox and the hound, Zootopia, and Robin Hood (the one where they are animals on cassette tape). I cry every time I watch Wall-E due to pure nostalgia and the movies messages. I finally got to watch this movie again recently when I got Disney+ and I still love it! I just had to say how much I love this masterpiece in my mind.
Oh and if your wondering why I said I “finally got to watch the movie again”, it’s because one day I watched the movie on the tv but when I clicked eject disc, the disc didn’t come out! It just fricking disappeared and to this day I don’t know what happened.

Sure did, i mean don't mistake that fir me seeing something that isn't there, i know it's dumb as hell and makes no sense in the "cars universe" or whatever, the nire i think about it the more i realise i like pieces of the movie rather than liking the movie, overall its stupid and the weaponised biofuel plot doesn't even make much sense. However Unlike most people, i actually like mater, this could be because I'm british and he's like a cartoon stereotype of what people in england who don't know ahot about America think America is.

As a story writer myself, letting your stories go is something very difficult to do. You have a story that either succeeds or is original enough to simply use again.
8/10 of my stories have been squeals, take place in the same universe, or are based off of one another.
Trust me, Pixar just needs to find the spark for originality again.

+ParaChomp even not great Pixar movies are still funny, cleaver and unique. There is definitely a a big difference between the impact Finding Nemo and Finding Dory had on me but they are still high quality compared to many other movies who still try to replicates Pixars movies
Zootopia is not created by Pixar, but John Lasseter and his team helped the Zootopia team a lot, giving them a lot of suggestions on the storyline. I guess this shows that Pixar can still be great if they actually push their team into being more creative and don't fall for lazy plots. I really hope they won't become Dreamworks, like Saber mentions in this video.

The biggest reason why Pixar has been exceeding the expectations of Disney, because they write relatable stories outside of the traditional Fairy Tale formula in terms originality content.
inside out was much better than the good dinosaur.
The premise itself was much better. Psychological conflict represented by personified emotions vs. a dinosaur saves a caveboy.
The Good Dinosaur's storyline was a mix of The Lion King and Ice Age, while Inside Out's was more original and well crafted
Inside Out is overrated as shiiiiiiiiiit... The only moment I liked in the movie was the death of the imaginary friend. And sadness was an incredibly annoying character (although justified). Also The other 3 emotions dont even do that much. Fear has a really funny moment at one point though but thats it... FeelsBadMan

Though Pixar has made a lot of sequels lately, they'll still always be my favorite animation company out there. With the exception of Cars 2, all their movies have been good or amazing. They set such a high bar for animation, that we wouldn't have all these other animation studios such as Blue Skies, Sony, and Illumination without the success of Pixar.
Plus it has been confirmed Pixar doesn't have plans for any more sequels after Toy Story 4, and they will continue making original content in the 2020s and so on.

I am one one of those people that likes Brave because the moral of generational problems is something I have struggled with growing up, and much like Merida wanting to create her own destiny and convincing her parents while excepting her own responsibility is a message that I have benefited from. Sequel, prequel or original, I will continue to respect what ever Disney and Pixar does with all my heart because of the legacy they have established. Pixar's creative brain trust and a lot of their methods for great story telling, I admire with all my heart after watching the number of interviews and documentaries. I respect what you had to say in this video, and I respect how anything can be improved in anyway, but for me if I find an admirable reason behind something worthwhile even if others may not see it, I will stand my ground with it. I can understand that A successful line of original material set the standard, yet sequels can do the same if you ask me. I personally hope to speak to John Lasseter personally, because I respect him so much and I will continue to have a deep profound admiration for what ever they do. I also intend on collecting the entire movie catalog because every one of them is great in their own way. Maybe you should find your way to Pixar is creative brain trust. That is if you can get into the studio, but whatever happens, be sure you find something that fills your dreams whatever that may be.

When I first saw the theatrical trailer for Finding Dory, I though "Oh man, this is gonna be another Monster's University, huh?"
But I was wrong. Finding Dory is actually really damn good. I might have even liked it more than Inside Out. It was a very "real" and heartfelt movie that I'm not ashamed to say I got teary eyed while watching.
Don't we all, Proud of how Finding Dory turned out to be. I'd say Inside Out is on it's league on it's own though immensely fulfilling and loved the way they warped the idea of the mind world

Would I say Pixar is failing? No, far from actually. Is it in a creative slump? You could say that, but I will definitely say it's not failing, since they can still make great films even if they are sequels. Personally, if I wanted to make a sequel, I'd have to have a good idea for one without taking away the charm that made the first installment, because if you make sequel after sequel without any care, it only makes the original look better each time.
Now if you want a studio which I actually DO think is failing, then one should look at Sony Animation, a studio that thinks that making a movie about Emojis is somehow a good idea.
