    I run the hid bulbs HR suggested in my factory HID headlights and rigid driving pattern Dually lights on a switch for extra width when needed and rigid diffused on a switch and tied into factory fog wiring for insane close lighting that isn’t over bright. Both sets have amber covers that really help in shitty weather

    Crucial production. Fog lights are vital in the torrential downpours. Saved my ass by keeping the close corners of the lane illuminated. Headlights just shot glare off the sheets of rain back in my face. No high tech LED headlight can replicate a low corner illuminating fog light but they're disappearing from new cars.

    Your videos are amazing! I’m debating between the Diode Dynamic SS3 Pro and Morimoto Fog kit... which would you choose? I’m looking for the brightest option which doesn’t impede the headlight bulbs... Would the GTR2 work as fog lights as well?

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The brightest option would of course be the Diode Dynamics SS3, as that is not a fog light but actually an offroad spotlight! I would recommend the Morimoto XB Fog lights if you are looking for just a fog light, if you want the most light output then I would recommend going with those SS3 pod lights! I think there's an increasing number of drivers like me who are finding it more difficult to drive at night. Low light at dusk is OK, but as the night gets darker I've noticed two conditions that are starting to feel unsafe.1) On very dark roads, especially if the road curves sharply to the right, it becomes difficult to see the right side curb or the right side edge of the lane. 2) In some cases on 2 lane roads, light glare from vehicles approaching uphill in the opposite direction overwhelm my vehicle's illumination of the right side curb or right side edge of the road. I think it would be safer (and would not affect oncoming traffic) if my vehicle could direct more light onto these right side of the road areas. So, I'm curious to know if I can accomplish this with directed fog lights, specifically aimed about 30-45 degrees to the right. Are there fog light kits that I might mount in place of my current ones that will direct their light in this way? I have two Toyota 4Runners that I would like to re-light in this way. Thanks for your very clear videos.

    Great explanation, Chris. One question though, why don't you guys like to use Diode Dynamics products in your output/performance comparison videos? For example, the SS3 fog assembly has killer output, especially compared to the Morimoto XB's (don't get me wrong, those are bright too, but SS3's in my opinion are the winner). Another great idea for a video would be to compare different fog light configurations, i.e., halogen vs. HID (35w vs. 55w.) vs. LED (2 stroke 2.0, S-V4, Ultra 2, SL-1, etc., maybe a few off-brands too) in OEM housing vs. LED assemblies like the Morimoto XB, Baha Designs, DD, etc., kind of like Diode Dynamics did in their fog light assembly shootout vid.

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason that we do not use Diode Dynamics products here is that they are just a re-make of the Baja Designs products, and are not as bright as even those pod lights. We were just trying to pick one from each style of fog light, and the Baja Design is just the better fit for that style. Thanks for commenting, have a good one!

      Hikari Ultra dims once it starts getting hot. You need: not only a bright led but one with good heat management.

    Hello I have a 2007 Nissan Maxima with HID headlights. I'm trying to find fog lights that match the color but don't want to add an HID conversion kit. Are there HID fog lights where its just plug and play? Or is there any led lights that can match that HID color that's plug and play?

    Does LED last longer if they get splashed?

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Obviously there is a chance that they will not last as long if they ar splashed, they are splash resistant, not water proof. I would recommend agains purposely trying to splash them. Let us know if you have any other questions!

    I love your automobile tutorials on the various types of lighting you can use for the on road and off road vehicles that we drive, but my question and request is that I would like to add a rear red led fog lights to my 2018 Toyota 4runner TRD Off Road, would you have any recommendations?
    I live up here in Canada where our winters can be very cold and we also get extreme snow falls. I am well equipped in the light up front of my vehicle (Morimoto HID'S in my projectors, Diode dynamics SS3 Sport as fogs and Diode dynamics SL1 as my high beams) But I would really like to add for safety a pair of RED Fog LED's so I am visible from behind, thank you

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend something small that will fit flush with that rear bumper, since you will have to be adding a light housing for this application. I would recommend going with the Baja Designs S1 Flush Mount Pod LEDs, although they will not be red, they are the best option for what you are looking for! I have linked those for you here: www.headlightrevolution.com/Baja-Designs-S1-LED-Pods-Flush-Mount_2?quantity=1

    I had LED foglights (EU) and threw them out. they were totally useless in actual bad weather. I got some new quality units from Valeo, bought a pair of yellow Halogen bulbs, now I have actual usable light for bad weather which is also legal as a welcome bonus. I'm still not sure about DOT regulations, it seems like everything is legal there.
