I would have gone 3 phoenix to autowin the round, then when he goes anti air on his fortresses pick up melters with electromag. You were right when you said doubling down on fortress was a mistake, but then you did it again the next round.
its so heavy supply commitment into one position. The fangs are everywhere and 100 cost barrier in front of the vulcan or a rhino in front of it negates it. There was a nano repair kit available round 2 so because of that maybe it wasn't completely out of the question. But the man thing is you need to deploy like 3 vulcans and then you dont have the money to counter the unit he will counter your vulcan with
