Nuances in OVERLORD mirror

So the idea of this composition is that the fangs protect the sledges as they have similar movement speed. And when the fangs die the sledges protect the Overlords. All of the 3 core units; fang, sledgehammer, overlord are all okayish at clearing chaff, sledge being the best. So together they should kill all enemy small units fast enough without the need for me to build more dedicated clear. And since someone always asks why i dont level the sledges, the reason is that their main role is chaff clear and lev1 and lev2 do the same chaff clear. And some counters to this many sledges is Fortress and Scorpion and leveling the sledges makes it easier for the enemy to build them (since the scorp for example farms lev2 sledges the same way it kills lev1 sledges)

Is not upgrading sledges a thing. both players didn't.
