Small flashlight, Classic SD, mini whistle, small first aid kit, sewing repair kit with about 12” or 30cm duct tape. Also the knowledge of how to use everything they carry.

I have a Victorinox Manager that I haw clipped to my pocket basically all the time. It covers 95% of what I need day to day. I wish it wasn't discontinued. It's a nice middle ground between the Rambler and Midnight Manager.
When I go out, I also have a tin with medications, bandaids, breath mints, a glasses cleaner cloth, and a Rovyvon A3 flashlight, plus a few other odds and ends. If I think I need it, I also have a Tntor 5000 mAh super light flat battery pack with built in USB C cable for my phone. In practice I rarely take it, but it's with my wallet and keys if I feel I do.
I think a 55mm Victorinox plus customized Altoids sized tin is a very reasonable carry for almost anyone, and a good place to start.

I live in an Urbane/suburban environment. I pocket carry a Victorinox Compact and a Rovyvon A5 in the watch pocket of my jeans. That covers about 95% of my needs.

Along with others here, a knife like Swiss Army SD/Rambler or larger as long as it has scissors & the other normal tools. Also a pocket size inexpensive AA flashlight, no charging, or needing cords. I think a FieldNotes type notebook & inexpensive pencil or office ballpoint. Can use copy paper folded before buying a notebook. -Would also have in wallet 3x5 card folded with important phone numbers, emails Incase your phone dies, gets lost. Man or woman should carry these in addition to the phone, wallet & personal meds type items.
The flashlight should be on their person at ALL times, even going to toilet. Power goes out in most buildings you are lost & can’t get back to your desk for the rest of your stuff.

I agree on you have shown. For those who carry pen & pencil I zebra of both. First they write very well. They are made from metal can use for protection. For flashlight I have a pen light. Several of the other comments have very good suggestions. Good information.

the nitecore tini2 will definitely be my go to, for the size, weight, run time, brightness and a display screen!

I would suggest any 2 to 4 layer victorinox knife, any pocket or keychain flashlight, a pen and a handkerchief. I don't know why, but people don't seem to carry handkerchiefs with them.

I would recommend a skeletool, victorinox compact and a flashlight that has a pocket clip and runs on AA batteries for a person that’s starting to get into being more prepared. Lightweight and fairly inexpensive.

Keep seing skeletoolbas recomendednto pair with compact..unfortunately cant carry skeletool legally in uk..im thinking of a harvester and kinpex cobra to go with my compact

@@dbag57 The leatherman bond doesn’t have locking blades, but that puts you wearing it on a belt or carrying it in some kind of pouch. 🤷🏻‍♂️ You can’t go wrong with knipex if you’re just wanting pliers. Those are buy once cry once.

It's easier to get a feel for EDC if you actually use the items regularly and aids in routine situations. I would start with a Pen such as Zebra F-701 or O-pen Mini and a pack of tissues. Then maybe a 2 layer SAK with Scissors.

Did you put the Swisscard scrissors deliberately in upside down? So that they are not flush with the edge of the card?
If you leave the short handle towards the nailfile then they go all the way in.

Sometimes I worry about recommending any kind of slip joint or a sak. A couple people I know would use it incorrectly and close the blade on themselves. They didn't grow up using blades and had a hard time opening the tools. Anyone else agree?

    • @jazz.van66
      @jazz.van66 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

For sure, I had a friend that complained about swiss army knives not having good lock because every time he pryed or scraped something with the back of it it would close on him. I told him he's using the wrong kind of tool, for the kind of jobs he does (mechanics mostly) you want a regular knife with a decent lock, not a slip joint multi-tool.

@66cutlassgm21 I guess if you didn't get a sak as a kid, people just don't get it??? I haven't closed a slip joint on my finger before but I did get a blood blister from one of the flat heads though. I was working on a loose screw at the wrong angle and it closed. I like to inform new knife people but it always goes out the other ear I think
