This is, again, one of those rare occasions where a custom you do is very similar to one I've done or plan to do. I've had my kitbashed Supes for a few months now and I REALLY dig it. My recipe is pretty much identical to yours, except I opted to keep the Rebirth trunks to better fit in with the more modern/Rebirth display I'm building, but I took the liberty or painting that small diamond on the belt yellow, just to better match the more classic style of the red boots. I've had a soft goods cape on him since I combined the figures, and it really sets it off and makes it a real solid centerpiece in the display. Hope to see you tackle more DC figures again in the near future!
I went with the Dark Knight Returns version with the way overbuilt body and I am happy with him and the face he comes with. Biting down on a raw apple.
The most common McFarlane kitbash, I just paint the boots on the rebirth legs there a little beefier and the infected superman trunks are a better fit, I also cut the point off the rebirth cape for a classic just above the boots look and for another kitbash supes I just swapped the upper torso and trunks from the 1000 and again painted the boots but for that one I cut off the swooping sides of the 1000 cape to give it a more neutral look and a custom cast 90s mullet superman head... looks phenomenal! I can't wait till hush superman gets revealed to find out what needs fixed on that, hopefully McFarlane gives him a better cape than just mirroring and lengthening the 1000 cape, I've also used the dark knight returns supes cape on one of these kitbashes!
I did a similar thing with my Rebirth Superman, except I only swapped the diapers and feet, removed the red stripe on the boots, and painted the sculpted area red. I don't mind the gorilla body for him. Either way, that figure makes for a better classic Superman if you got the right parts.
Looks absolutely perfect! I would really love to do this, but i don't have the action comics 1000 superman mcfarlane and no way am i paying the crazy prices he goes for now I guess the best I can do is repaint his boots and trunks red...
The proportions came out great. The blues on the parts look clearly different on the video, you likely noticed by now. Only problem I have with nearly every 6in Superman is that they can't look up properly in flying poses.
@@VADtoys I understand. I use Vallejo acrylic primer, paint, and varnish. But it takes a lot of patience waiting multiple days for it to dry so it doesn't scuff.
@@VADtoys you could have use rebirth lower body for making the lower body less narrow which I saw you originally thought and saw it on some else video it looks great and make it more portional
VAD, have you seen or have the Superman vs Superman Earth 3 2 pack? That is the goofy looking Superman sculpt with Rebirth PJs but he has red boots. I havent cracked out of the box, but it looks like the Superman Rebirth(?) blue costume is not that close to either the regular Rebirth or Action Comics version. Is that the case? I am not sure if it is the blister packaging that is affecting the color or not. If not, it would sure make it easy to just swap the pelvis and the arms and shoulder joints with Superman AC 1000. Any thoughts?
I've seen the super goofy headsculpt and I absolutely hate it, other than that I have no idea what the blues are like but if they're close it'd make swapping parts pretty easy. To be honest, DC Multiverse is just a really frustrating line.
@VADtoys I have to tell you, I was actually holding a 2 pack at Target in my hand and the goofball face actually looked OK. I was surprised and thought, sure, I'll get it but off Amazon. That was a mistake! The Amazon 2 pack had as goofy a face as you can imagine. The one at Target was an anomaly. I wished I had taken a picture, because the face I saw was actually pretty good, probably what it was meant to look like, but the subtle difference in mass production threw it off. Hard to believe, but I cannot explain what I saw. I am going to see if I can find it again, but I am sure it is gone by now. Too bad, because it would have been a rare bird indeed.
Can I ask, do the arms just swap between the torsos easily, no modding needing to be done? I like the AC 1000 body, but just want the Rebirth arms. Would that be easy to do?
Those fists are way too big. You should fill in the gap running down the upper leg. It doesn't look right with the upper body that does not have those seam lines
is the upper torso and the abdomen from the same superman? mine always looked like his waist was too skinny so i avoided it when i made the same custom, i have him in the gorilla look rn. i wanted to use the lower waist from the rebirth body and it looked really nice with the original mcfarlane torso but it wouldnt pop together properly, really unfortunate.
Yup abdomen and chest are both from the 1000 Superman. I noticed that the connecting piece was different from the Rebirth so I didn't even bother trying. Besides I like the defined abs look.
Well, as I'm not a millionaire to buy two figures and take a huge risk to disassemble them, what I would do would be to take only the Superman Rebiert and paint his boots, underpants and belt to have a more classic style. so you save money and don't risk so much, right?
Is there a way to do a thigh cut trim it down so there 6” length instead of seven then reattach so they have a swivel I really dislike McFarlane’s aesthetic, scaling, proportions i don’t really care for his figures

Thank you! I've been thinking about doing this same thing for months and you've convinced me!

I have a video where I replace the head on that figure actually if you're interested!
Hopefully we get a official release like this.

I did the same thing but used superman 1000s arms. Made em look more tone and less like a gorrila
That’s awesome 😎
Smart!
great video many thanks....
I'm glad you ended up with the big logo body, the only thing I thought looked better on the other one was the arms and legs since they were bulkier.
Yeah I came to the conclusion that I think the bigger body works better for Bizarro than Clark
The proportions came out great. The blues on the parts look clearly different on the video, you likely noticed by now. Only problem I have with nearly every 6in Superman is that they can't look up properly in flying poses.
That's strange, I legitimately can't see a difference between the blues at all. In person or in the video itself
Hate plasticky capes too🙄✨🙉
i like darker blue one u can paint him metalic black
apply Warm water or hot flesh Temp
I love your experiment. Next time just paint the boots so he isn't short lol.
It's really cool seeing different customizers vision.
I would but I don't really want to deal with potential paint scuffing.

Should just be a heat up and swap!
Nice job! What Wonder Woman figure is this?
She’s the DC Essentials figure with new hair. I have a video showcasing her.
Is it possible to use the red boot original peg rather than trimming the hole?
I actually think so, it seemed like a tough fit originally but I think trimming the hole was probably unnecessary.
Those fists are way too big. You should fill in the gap running down the upper leg. It doesn't look right with the upper body that does not have those seam lines
I agree on the fists so I’ll see if I can eventually find replacements but I don’t really mind the leg seams. Keeps it a bit more interesting

If u heat up the plastic u can pop the emblem out
I've seen people do that but because the size of it is so drastically different it wouldn't work unless I cut up the actual figure as well

Which Wonder Woman is that?
Customized DC Essentials, got a video about her on the channel

I mean you can but the main point of this video is to not make him have the proportions of a gorilla.
@@VADtoys Well, in many versions Superman has been given those proportions, hasn't he? XD

You can but I'm not really sure if the thigh is gonna line up with the upper part since it gets thinner as the muscle goes down.
que marca es esa wonder woman???
