- This is the most ambitious stunt fishing mission Matt Watson has ever taken on. Catching a giant bluefin tuna is tough even on the very best big game fishing tackle, but on a hand line in a dinghy it is not only tough, but dangerous if he gets it wrong he could loose an arm.
The underwater footage of these ocean giants is incredible, and the action unbelievable.

I have a totally new appreciation for this mate, I had a monster bull ray on 60lb fishing for kings.. my reel handle broke off and I had to handline it in, no gloves, braid cut a fair way through my pinky, both hands

All around Africa, fishing for Marlin and Tuna with 250 to 300 lb mono hand-lines, - no rope or safety lines, and usually one man on his own no help. They fish from 3 tonne wood canoes with 15Hp Yamaha engines, 40 to 60 kms out to sea and this is normal normal daily fishing.

Caught many Bluefin on Handline, NOTHING compares to it, (be very careful for those who want to try, there is no joke about the danger) But I had to laugh at the size of your boat. I did it from a 37' boat which is less forgiving. You must have gone for a boat ride!!!
First one I ever caught on a hand line 126 inches long 880 lb dressed of sanguine island gulf of Maine ,600 mono on a yozure lure
The problem is the mono pulls throught ur hands an u can't rape around ur hand unless u want to die

This Fish is Powerful. Wrong zone for tuna. For years fushermans say there is weak and calm tunas and some of them aggressive and hard to beat them.
Nope there is no personality on tuna. If they are hungry easy to catch if they are full you have to spend time to get them hungry. According to equipment 30 minutes to 6-8 hours normal to take the boat. This on water fish factory are feeding them they are the most powerful tunas on earth.

This show is absolute rubbish. Why would anybody want to do this? What's the point? And there is no way that rope and winch could be considered a hand line. This might pass as good tvs in n.z. But they can keep it. What an absolute flog.
Rowmaniax of course it's a flog bro but a bloody awesome one at that. Now that Matt has shown a bit of over the top TV he will through out the season show us real life ocean skills...trust me we all need more of them & this guy knows it more then most. Well that is what I've noticed, but hey I've watched more then just this show of his, but what do I know.
