the video has been released quite a long time ago but I have never seen a reply from zappi about how to fix that issue which is pretty well shown and not new. Can not be so hard to warm up a garage in the UK to 28°C and simulate what is going on in Australia. Looks like Zapi don't really care about such cases that can happen every where cause even in central europe we have such nights we call tropical where the temperature barely drops below 25°C and everyone expects to see the car charged fully the other morning. We have bought a spanish one, the Pulsar Plus from the manufacturer Wallbox which has not such issues and also has a clean multiple pcb design, get updates and suffers only from one major issue: it can not modulate the minimum current for surplus charging from 3 phases to 1 phase by software. You need to turn it off, then turn 1 or 2 rcd off to achieve a 1 phase charging. A bit inconvenient, not perfect but we have only cars capable of 2 phase 7,2 kW charging and in most cases 2 phases is the best. But no overheating issues even when charging a tesla with 11 kW 3 phases using just the Wallbox and german open source software EVCC which manages the communication in a mulitple brand environment that we have between the pulsar plus and growatt inverter and eastron smartmeter plus chinese heatpump and a french Atlantic warm water heatpump (both are SG ready to start in case we feed a certain amount of kW into the grid).
Zappi were going to release a video saying I never did the firmware update. They were good enough to first call me, mention lawyers, and suggest a firmware update. I did the update that day and tested in my new test chamber. It was smashed. 32 amps 1 phase, 36 degrees. Derated to 6 amps. Zappi didn’t bother posting their rebuttal about a firmware update fixing it. And I haven’t heard from their lawyers. I’ll test the latest firmware update next week.
I moved from a house where I had a Zappi to where currently I have a WattPilot. I prefer the Zappi by far; I find the WattPilot overly difficult to use with poor instructions and support from Fronius negligible.

Yeh. It has a lot of good features. The heat is more of a technical issue that points towards not just charge speed but design quality longevity.
