My Fish Had Babies... ALREADY?!

  • This one covers a lot of ground and things I'm excited to share! Updates on the ponds, baby fish, stocking the DIY mini pond and the gargoyle gecko vivarium! If you've been waiting to see any of this, then I hope you'll really enjoy this one.
    As you would expect I thoroughly enjoy making my setups, but it's always fun to get the animals in their homes and see how they thrive long-term. I think this video helps showcase that, but it's something I'd like to start sharing more in a format like this. If you wouldn't mind, let me know if you like a video like this.
    Also I'm sure you could tell that a lot is about to change in the animal room. Stay tuned! I've got big tanks coming in and a lot of really cool setups.

    A few quick questions from the video. What do you think I should do with Whodini? I will go bioactive, but I'm not sure if I should just buy another 125 gallon or if I should make a DIY tank. Which would you prefer to see? Also, what do you think the hybrid sunfish will look like when they're grown? I think that they'll mostly look like green sunfish, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I really hope you enjoyed this one!

    Good morning Tanner! While I think buying a tank would be quicker, I think you would do better making your own setup. You could size it exactly as you want to fit the space you've chosen. I love watching how you build them, also I think you will appreciate the versatility over time. Since you can choose the height, depth and width to fit the space, you can also choose how high to make the bottom front piece of glass (for fish maybe?). What it comes down to tho, is what you want to do after sleeping on it for a week or two. I think I can say for all of us is that you are so good at what you do we will all be blown away with the finished product. As if anything made with living things can ever be "finished". Just keep doing what you do Tanner. Thank you for sharing your passion with us!
    God bless and have a great weekend

    The hybrid sunfish you have in your front pond will more than likely have the body pattern of a pumpkinseed and the green/turquoise face and oversized mouth of the the green sunny. I fish in a creek that has most if not all sp. Of sunfish and most of them will interbreed. If you hear a fisherman or wildlife department reference "hybrid sunfish" its generally a bluegill/pumpkinseed and the babies are sterile and depending on which sp. You mix those babies can be sterile too but im not 100% on why. Love the ponds man keep up the good work! 👍

    • @danschafer8050
      @danschafer8050 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You fish in a creek with most species of sunfish? That's extremely unlikely. And most hybrid sunnies are green/bluegill which are bred by fisheries for pond stocking.

    • @SubiGoRacing
      @SubiGoRacing 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The creek i fish is two miles upstream from a major river, theres every sp. there is here in it, sunfish dont have a massive genus category to begin with. why dont you go study some ecology books, its not unlikely to have a wide variety of sunfish in one area. like how you can find multiple kinds of animals just about anywhere in nature. And most wildlife departments stock blue/pumpkinseed hybrids due to their fast growth and prominent size and fight but they are sterile which is why they stock them every year in some places. Green sunfish are an invasive sp. Why the hell would anyone purposely crossbreed them for sport? Most greens or green hybrids are considered trash fish because no one wants them they want the iconic sunfish species.(hence why they crossbreed fish to look exactly like a bluegill that grows faster, instead of an ugly green that everyone throws back). Coming from someone whos bred fish for over a decade and fished their whole lives in this one spot, id think i know what im talking about.. If you need links or want further proof you can message me as i dont know how to link a whole ton of links or an entire photo album of every kind of fish in that creek.

    How do you controls clarity? I'm working on converting a large inground pool to a pond sue to lack of funds to actually keep it running. It is bio active, it has fish in it as well. I actually stock my indoor tanks with the life in my pool.
    I know not to use chemicals, but i still need a way to make the water more appealing. I may actually be running into a population cintrol issue as well, so hopefully I can release bass or catfish in there.
