Not bad riding, but I have some old school 2-stroke tips for you that is becoming lost 2-stroke talent.
You are going down the straight on the gas with a corner coming up where you have to downshift: (berms mostly)
      1) Of course, hold the throttle open until you have to brake for the corner at the last second. The brake with both brakes, do not pull in the clutch, and downshift one gear at a time so you can hear the rpms your engine is at. (you also get more back braking power).
      2) Select a gear that you may think is one gear to high for your final shift before getting back on the gas. Normally, with not much clutch slipping and just throttle for the exit, it would be a gear too high. (I won't go into body position in and out of the corner, but your head should be over the bars when you get on the gas.)
      3) Now, even if you are not ready to hammer the power, pull in the clutch, rev it high, and slip the clutch coming out of the corner so it does not bog with the higher gear.
The bottom line: Basically on a 125 just about anywhere, and a 250 where traction is pretty good or better, (or sand especially), you can pin the throttle open early, and feed the power to the ground with the clutch. There is a limit, and you will find it. It will want to bog in the higher gear. That will force you to go into the corner faster, (a good thing for speed), downshift once less, (no big deal when you are breaking anyway), and not have to up shift one more time when coming out of the corner.
You can use the same technique on flat turns, but you can't get as aggressive with the gas when leaned over like you can in a berm.
If it does not pick up your corner speed with out frying the living hell out of your clutch, than one gear higher may be too high, or you can lower your gearing.
Kent Howerton developed the technique in the late 70's when he was on a under powered Husky. The Jap factory riders watched him from the side of the track, because they could not figure out why he was exiting corners so fast on that husky, and they saw what he was doing. "Clutching it" was born. :)

The clutch can take it, and the technique was not very hard on the clutch for me, but I did find steel clutch drive plates (not aluminum which were stock), would hold up a lot longer than aluminum plates, but a bit harder on the clutch hub. Nothing a little file work can get more time out of,--one time. The longest I ever had one bike was 5 years, (88 CR250), and I never had to replace the clutch hub with steel plates.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 2 ปีที่แล้ว

This is a better way to say it, for clutch slippage in a higher gear: If you find your self pulling and releasing the clutch a bit to keep the rest up more than twice, and you can't enter the corner faster, then the gearing is too high. If you can get on the gas (pin it early) and feed the clutch out to control traction and drive, you can slip it/feeding it out, until you exit the corner if you are accelerating. It can take it. It should be smoooooth, not jerky. If it bogs and you have to pull in the clutch a bit once, you lost your advantage. Do it twice and you gave up time. Keep it pinned, see what it will do. :)
We used to be able to enter a 170 degree sand berm that was a good smooth 3rd gear arc, and fairly tight, and pin it as soon as we laid the bike over entering the berm.

I mean don't get hurt just go over the edge a bit. Then you can apply that to GNCC. It worked for me back in the day. Who knows it might work for you big guy !! WFO

They are more reliable, cheaper to fix and just hands down better. I always get they haven't updated anything, the ktms and husky bikes have been updated and blah blah, yeah well if it ain't broke dont fix it. Yamahas recipe is perfect. And after a couple aftermarket mods to my 2021 YZ250X, its hands down the best bike I have ever ridden or owned. Ok done ranting. FYI I love all two strokes, 4 strokes are for losers lol

And yes the v-force are an improvement from the bottom up and everywhere in between. If you feel or hear a bog ever on a 1 duece nickel you are one gear too high. Let her eat. I get a kick out of the 4-stroke generation, rides a 125 2-stroke by rolling on the power like a 500cc 2-stroke or a 4-stroke. That is not the fast way to do it for a 125, but it did show that the engine has more low end power better that full throttle. You can tell as a rider still, but if you rode it a gear higher into the corners (which forces you to go faster into the corner so you don't bog coming out.), pull in the clutch after braking so you can pin the throttle early and feed the power out with the clutch in the higher gear, it would be harder to hear the gains by sound alone. Basically, when you ride a 125 or smaller 2-stroke right, it sounds like the power is full on, or totally off, no in between. And it usually is, but you are feeding out the power with the clutch out of every corner. The general rule is, if you have to fan the clutch more than once to stay in the power of the higher gear as you exit the corner, it is not working. To make it work, you have to either come into the corner faster, or maybe gear down a tinge, or get your bike to make more lower end/mid range power.
Your not making that 125 sing, but rolling on the power made it pretty easy for us to see that it is pulling harder at lower RPM's.
Good, I expect the same for my 250.

I noticed no pro thanks God on the podium anymore. I wonder if that is force from the FIM or NBC.
It is probably force from somewhere. In Michigan in the 80's, a elderly lady named "Bette" did Church services at local tracks on any Sunday, and was in the local District 14 paper with an editorial. She was a popular service. Many Pro racers thanked God on the podium. Today, not a peep from the Pro's. Has to be some kind of force.

Practice this: I have some old school 2-stroke tips for you that is becoming lost 2-stroke talent.
You are flying down the straight, (one finger on the clutch, and one finger on the brake), on the gas with a corner coming up where you have to brake and downshift: (this technique for berms mostly)
      1) Of course, hold the throttle open until you have to brake for the corner at the last second. Then brake with both brakes, do not pull in the clutch, and downshift one gear at a time so you can hear the rpms your engine is at. (you also get more back braking power, and your tranny will have no problem with it.).
Pin it, and feed the power to the ground with the clutch, is the basic idea.
To be perfect with it, you should not have to pull in the clutch again to get the revs back up. If you can't enter the corner any faster, and still have to pull the clutch in and out to keep the engine in it's power curve, you will lose any advantage. If you get to the point where you slip the clutch all the way around the corner with the throttle pinned, (or pretty much), as you are feeding the clutch out,--nice and smooth, you did it almost perfectly. If you carried your front wheel 4" off the ground under full acceleration for the next 100 feet because you did not have to shift back up one gear, you did it perfectly. :)
Kent Howerton developed the technique in the late 70's when he was on a under powered Husky. The Jap factory riders watched him from the side of the track, because they could not figure out why he was exiting corners so fast on that husky, and they saw what he was doing. "Clutching it" was born. :)

There is one important factor you did not control. The jetting. If you want to see the full advantage of the reed, (and the jetting. Stock bike is really rich, losing power, but safe for everywhere on the planet.), you would need to tune the jetting well with the stock reeds, (and you will feel a big difference from stock jetting, cleaner burning for the power valve too.), then with them and jet it again, (won't need as much change most likely).
When ever you change a dynamic of air flow in the engine/pipe, you should re-jet the carb. It is possible the v-force makes the engine runs a bit more rich, of which you would not see full benefit. Jetting is a big factor as you know,---so it has to be controlled for the most accurate tests.
I just had to post because I didn't see you jetted it. Now I am going to finish it and see if you noticed a difference. :) Picking up one for my YZ250 too.

I am not a religious guy because I don't agree with God's teachers anymore then a Frankfort sociology professor. But when I raced amateur in the 80's and 90's in district 14 in Michigan, a Preacher lady named "Bette" held service outside of the pits for "On any Sunday" racer/family. It was pretty popular. I am not sure how many tracks she went to. I know a good number of Pro racers believe in God too, like Zack Osbourne, and I suspect NBC is not letting them thank God from the podium. If so,--that is evil, and that would fit NBC too. I know how the church can destroy communism with one more correct reformation. Because the church and communism are based on altruism,--communism can use the church for morality, because communism has none. I don't think God agrees with the teachers and preachers today.
We say "God gave us our rights" to an overbearing government. But that is not true. God gave us a brain that can reason and figure out reality, unlike anything else living on Earth. We figured our rights based on our own nature, to be able to think as individuals and achieve,---and we formed the USA that was based on individual liberty protected by law, and free people creating the free enterprise system that got mankind out of poverty. God was so proud of us, like the parent of their successful child.
But somebody is telling us to "sacrifice it" all for "the good of the all". It will be the poverty and control of the all,----like farm animals. It all depends on what philosophies we follow. I prefer the ones that created civility, (trading money instead of blood, and becoming friends), and got mankind out of poverty as we created the industrial revolution with our brains and freedom. That----is called "greedy". I call it human nature to prosper and be civil.
