8 miles of the Los Angeles river in the San Fernando Valley

- The Los Angeles river has many tributaries that contribute to it along it's way to the pacific ocean and eventually exiting in the Long Beach area. This part is located in the west end of the San Fernando Valley which serves to guide the excessive rain fall in a safe and controlled environment. Before these channels were built, the valley was acceptable to flooding during heavy rain falls and the need for controlling excessive amounts of water was a necessity in order to protect the communities.
There are more washes to the west of my starting point and a main run that services the northwestern part of the valley but this is where they come together to start the Los Angeles river in the west end of the valley.
This flight of 8.3 miles was done with a Mavic 2 Zoom in 5 segments. Each flown at 30 mph and sped up 4x in post giving the presentation of being in a helicopter at 150ft.
Hope you enjoyed this presentation of the Los Angeles river which flows through the San Fernando Valley to the Sepulveda Basin Dam and the 405/101 interchange.
TV hx for watching bdseidler
That Brutalist charm of the LA River is something else and you captured it quite well. Greetings from Germany
Thx for your visit from Germany and thx for the comment!
Wow, long flight...great view of the river n a glimpse of balboa lake..🙂💖
Thx for the visit and comment. This was 4 flights from different locations blended together for the presentation.
Reception in the city is not very good so my distance was limited but worked with it. Thx again. bd
@@bdseidler 4x yes, i read it in description...i think it's great...especially the last part. 🙂
Very very cool! That was a fantastic video presentation of this waterway and area. Thanks for showing 👍🏼👍🏼😃
Thx for checking it out. Been thinking of doing something like this for a while. This was only a small part of this long man made river.
Awesome Bernie! I sure enjoyed your representation. Thanks for sharing.
Thx Chris, Something I haven't done before, or at least not all at once.👍
Those are some high powerlines right after Wilbur! :o Nice video!
I was a little surprised by them
Amazing bossman
Thx Ryan, Being smooth was the hard part.
Well done, Bernie! Loved it.
Thx Trav, it's hard being smooth for 8 miles. 😉👍
Thumbs up ere' Bernie, great capture from above, great edit - we have these in Spain. Many thanks for sharing :)
Thx for the visit and comment Shaun!👍
Awesome! Bernie. Gotta love that Ocusync. Thanks for the tour!
Thx for the ride along Al! It did well in the city.
So good.
Thx Greg,👍
Very beautiful, if I may make a suggestion. The Rossmoyne area of Glendale is especially nice with all the green trees and being at the base of the Verdugo mountain. would make for a nice drone vid I think.
Thanks Janet, I appreciate the tip and I'll check it out.
@Eat mor Chikin I wish se had nicer rivers down here!
Alan Dower here from drone seekers this is an interesting vid
Thx for the visit Alen. I went down the river without a paddle but i had props.😉
Great flight Bernie.....thanks.
Thx Gordon! 👍
That was pretty cool Bernie! Those Power lines tho!
Thx for checking it Thomas. Those wires were a nice surprise. Saw the lower ones 1st and as I got closer the upper ones appeared. Hoped there wasn't one at eye level, there wasn't. TG.
Mayby you can try doing that with the aqueduct????
@@bdseidler Yeah, I saw the HT tower off to the left and knew I'd be seeing the wires any second. I guess it's a holdover from my former life (profile pic). :-)
Nice B!
8 miles, 4 flights. Think my longest trip was close to 2.5 miles. Out 1.3 miles, back over my head and another 1.2 miles the other way. Not bad reception for being in the city.
Please do another video during a rain storm when it’s full and flowing
@@bobstupak2091 Here's a short clip of the sepulveda basin after our big rains earlier this year. Got there as soon as the rains stopped.

Very nice! I've had an the idea to do something like this for a few years now, just never went through with it. Now I don't have to, lol. Great work on this one!
Thx Kev, It's been on my mind for years and out of boredom thought, what the heck. Didn't take long ether, just did it like a mission. RTH a couple times. Once it wanted to go someplace I wasn't. Canceled that. Last flight was from the field. Hard to fly smooth for that long of a flight. 👍
a trick: you can watch movies on kaldrostream. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Jerry Benjamin yea, I've been using KaldroStream for months myself :)
Very cool and well stitched together, Bernie! But YIKES...a concrete river in a concrete jungle...let's hope the whole world doesn't end up this way.
Thx for the visit Don! This is just the beginning. This river winds itself through many towns and along it's way to the sea. This was only a portion of it's complexity. The part that runs though my neck of the woods, sorta.
good
That was a really cool video of the la river, how many batteries did you use? Did you take off at a couple spots. I know my drone couldn't make it that far from canoga park high school to woodly park?
4 batteries and 4 take off points. I had to back track each time as well. So I did 16 miles back and forth. The edit brought all together as if it was flown with a helicopter. Thx for watching.
@@bdseidler Looks like the homeless people are building up there tents again after the big fire next to the sepulvada dam?
@@bdseidler I thought it was in a helicopter. It would be nice to see it run all the way to Long Beach.
Very nice.
Great vid man. What music is this?
Thx R.L. the music is from a generic library in my editing software.
This WAS river now this is SEWAGE
True, 100 or more years ago!
I can take a picture of my pc screen by pushing the print sysrq on keyboard. But there is another way by pushing control and p or something like that if you want to show someone what you are looking at on your computer!
I have not done that, guess I should learn how to do that. I'll look it up on TH-cam, lol
That's my area kester ave and magnolia
But I did not go there
Sherman oaks California Hollywood van nuys
the hell kinda drone has an 8 mile range..
Haha, just seeing this. It was broken up into 5 parts I think.
Spotters used :)
Pitiful + terrible intrusive music!
River?😂
Yeah, that's what they call it! It rages sometimes after heavy rains but for the most part, it's dry.
