Sir you are my saviour, had exactly the fault lights and messages on my Peugeot 207 1.6 HDI as in your video. Sure enough water in the central socket and pin 19 had rotted through. Followed your advise on the fix and hey presto only antipollution and engine lights on, Gave the car a high rev run down the motorway to clean any soot and all lights are off and all is well. I cannot thank you enough for a brilliant fix to this common problem you are the guy to go to a professional diagnostic of the fault. Thank you again my friend. Next job to change the screen wash pump.
Your work is exceptionally good. Not only can you diagnose the fault, but you are then able to fit bits of wire to fix it. Superb. A main dealer would be replacing everything at enormous cost.
Great Video - Helped me diagnose my problem - I had three pins missing - I actually did a fix with a paperclip - opened up a paperclip cut to length and placed it in the top part of the connector - when the connector is locked in place the paperclip(s) make contact with where the pins had broken/corroded away - didn't even have to remove the BSI unit from the car - If this fix fails I'll do the fuse and wire fix as described in the video
Hi, thanks for all your videos, they have been a great help to me sorting out my 2016 Peugeot Partner MK2 van issues. Last week i was towed home after not being able to crank the engine and having engine light on, flashing battery light on and econonmy mode enacted. Tow man was very helpful, but said it's your BSM not communicating with the BSI. When home, watched a few of your related videos, then got down to investigating. Tried reseting BSM and checked all fuses, no change. Removed the BSM and saw the problem water ingress/corrosion in grey 28 pin multi plug. When removing plug 3 pins came away, but having already ordered a replacement BSM without plugs, i still had a problem. so having trained in electronics many years ago, decided to take the plug apart and saw i needed to re wire some pins. Went to RS components online, ordered a Molex CMC automotive plug, (774-8144) and set of female pin connectors, (723-9371), total cost £20.44. Unfortunately this was the black coded plug, mine was the grey coded plug, but i had noticed the "coding" is jus plastic grooves in the plug & socket, so i got my hot knife out and cut away some of the plastic on the plug to make it fit. Van started up a treat, hope this helps anyone looking to solve this problem. Thanks again, you were a great help. p.s. i have got a diagbox/unit ready to use on my laptop, will it have wiring diagrams on as well as the diagnostics, got to set XP 32 bit mode to use it first.
Lots of people would be able to know what the issue is with that car but very very few would be able to sort it out without changing the fuse box. Excellent work nothing wrong in the fix you did.
My Citroen C3 2011 presents the same issue and your video is providing me valuable information to discuss with my mechanic. I am very much grateful to you for doing this video.
Thanks for your video. This happened to me but the first sign of corrosion to the plug pins was both front indicators and door mirror repeaters stopped working (rear indicators fine) On removing the middle plug the 19 pin broke and stayed in the plug. The rest was corroded so I purchased used unit (matching number) I thought about using your "plug by-pass" method but it wasn't my car. Thanks to your video it was easy to change the fuse board but getting the broken pin out of the tiny plug socket was impossible. I took the plug almost apart but no way could I get the rusty pin out. So I decided to try and push it further in as far as it would go (using a steel tailor's pin) and it worked! The broken pin went in far enough to allow the replacement pin to fit and make contact. On completion I had a "Anti-pollution system" error message and engine check light still on but this cleared itself after a short drive. Brilliant! Thanks again.
Amazing video I know nothing about cars I started watching this video thought it was my car everything exactly the same lights everything on dash. The pin you soldered was corroded on mine obviously I couldn’t solder it. So I got a second hand fuse Board from scrap yard £18 plugged in everything perfect saved me a fortune. Keep it up with the good work 👍
I know this is an old video. I discovered online that the socket gets like this due to water getting there from the screen wash due to capillary action along the wiring! My C3 Picasso had exactly the same thing go wrong and I had to replace the whole fusebox with one off eBay. When you replace the middle plug, use some kind of sealant to help prevent it from happening again.
brillant explaination and repair, have just carried out this same approach to a 207 diesel(Two pins broken - dsf headlamp in/op, brake light on at all times, abs fault, power steering fault, charging fault, anti pollution. so a very big thank you and thanks for using and showing your skills
nice repair, only thing is you need to stop the water getting into the fuse box or the fault will return in a few weeks, ive seen this fault a few times and the water tracks up through the wiring harness to the fuse box from the washer pump motor , so to prevent it happening again replace the washer pump as well.
Hi I have learnt so much from your video and I’m going to watch out for any faults and put use of all the information you have given. I enjoyed your video thoroughly😊
Bought a 2012 Peugeot, 98 000 km, one owner, no major problems when purchased except the water injector for windscreen not working. We filled it up as empty, still didn't work so looked at the fuse. Found the fuse was broken so replaced it. Next thing, all the same faults as in the above video occurred - ABS, power steering, speedometer, temp and fuel gauge, front electronic windows, engine fan and brake switch all faulted. Corrosion in the fuse box the cause, leak from the washer water over time along the fuse wire back to the fuse box is the suspect cause of the corrosion. Had to replace the fuse box and repair harness, brake switch, cost nearly $1800. Will never buy a Peugeot again after this
you are the genius of car electronic.every your video is cool because you talk in detail what you work.i realy want be your apprentice but so many kilometers away.....
I came here because i have a fuel issue with my peugeot 407 and it seems that most of your videos are Peugeots! I shall not be buying another one once my car has been sorted. I just don't know who to trust to fix the problems.. Hmmm.. Great videos by the way, amazing knowledge, love it!
@@LMAutoRepairs thanks for reply my friend! Depolution system error is on screen and on my way to work the engine cut out on a busy carriageway and wouldn't restart for around 5 minutes. when it did went to limp mode. Happened again 10 mins later and also on my way home from work. I haven't driven the car since, too scared. I have downloaded codes and 6 out of 8 point to fuel pressure problems. After watching your video on P0087 i think i may have injector issue.
@@LMAutoRepairs No way! I just saw that my diesel fuel filter has been put on the wrong way round! The arrow is pointing back towards the tank. Could this be the cause of hesitation and stalling at all?
I think you should find exactly where the water is coming in from! My experience as a Peugeot technician for over 20 years has found that the windscreen washer pump or the coolant temperature sensor on the side of the engine are generally at fault, if you pull these plugs off you’ll find that there is corrosion or the pins will be white the cure for this is to replace the pump or the sensor which ever one is causing the fault , Or you will be doing is delaying the water going in there, I’ve seen this fault 100 times
You can share some o the savings then...😉 Just kidding! That's great, that is what this channel is all about... Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Hi Luis your videos are truly educational and helpful I have a Peugeot partner 2013 with abs fault and I’m starting to suspect as you say it’s a common problem I’ve checked the sensors and they are good.
Do you have communications with the module? Which faults do you have ? Live data, anything out of the ordinary? Ask this question before jumping into any conclusions... Thank you for watching and for your comment! 👍👍👍
@@LMAutoRepairs thanks Luis. I'm planning to purchase a better diagnostic reader that can read the abs module. Failing that I may need to bring it to you
Could possibly have asked a dentist to x-ray the module to see what side of the fuse to solder too. But that's probably a bit tricky and costly! Otherwise good video....have just had this issue on my old 2007 207!
In most cases ....Its useully not the scart leads in bonnet thats blown...but check anyway.. if its not scarts....then its the ecu motor thats gone under the car...easy fix...fault code will be C1414...if you have no power steering atall. First: Do not panic Second: Do not take it to main dealer...they will stick a bank card up your back side and draw money out through your mouth. Third: check fuse F7 ..if thats ok Fourth: do it yourself its just 2 torq screws or take it to a back street garage and pay them £20 to take out the ecu motor only and not whole rack. Fith: take the part to a car breaker or ebay seller and find a second hand matching ecu motor..its easy to find. Should be £40 or more if the seller is a criminal. Sixth: fit it yourself its just 2 torq screws...make sure you place it in correctly and put back scart leads as they were..or pay £20 to a back street garage..its a 15 minite job. Seventh: all fixed....save a fortune and tell main deal to FOXTROTT and OSCA !!!!
The terminals on my 1.6 HDi are all clean, but what happens is that everything except the engine stops working, dash lights, speedometer, power windows, alternator, cluster lights, aircon and I get a constant clicking sound from under the glovebox (internal fusebox) and things switch on and off intermittently with the clicking sound. This only happens when there is heavy rain and the interior of the car mists up. Obviously, water is infiltrating somewhere and mucking things up. Or a ground wire is loose somewhere... Just before xmas a nearby clap of thunder killed the battery. The whole car just went dead. Tried recharging the battery but to no avail, only a new battery restarted the car. Now it's raining again and the sputtering restarted yesterday. If I knew where the water is coming in, I'd seal it and probably stay out of trouble. Mechanically the car is great. 342000 kms and still not consuming oil between services. 880 kms city driving with a full tank, 1100 highway driving here in Australia.
You need to investigate that more throughly... I agree, that either water is getting somewhere, or power and ground issues... Unplug other modules, to check for water ingress... check earth points etc... Thank you for watching!
hello my vehicle pejo 207 209 model indicator has been on the kilometer line, the starter is not in the abs brain, I said the outer fuse plate, it did not, I wonder what the problem is.
My 2012 Peugeot 308 diesel only 29000 miles warning lights came on including the power steering and the power steering failed while i was driving ... the fault was the alternator apparently if your battery drops below about 11 volts all hell breaks out the car will try to kill you and your passengers ... new alternator £500 fitter ... sound expensive but the alternator was about £400..
Same car, same issues, I will follow your recommendations. Anyways, thank you very much for your clear explanation. I subscribe to your channel as am am sure I will learn much more.
Hi i have problem with my 207 1.4 8v no start and no power on spark plug, on the fuse box f10 (Ignition Coil ) and f5 (fuel pump)?, for this 2 fuse a have negative, but i think it should be positive yes?
Hi there, seem to be having the same problem with my 207 56 plate 1.4. It started off with a coolant level too low warning message last week when it wasn’t and later on the day the abs and faulty breaks message came up and the deposition system failure. I was worried and decided to call the mechanic the next morning, by then the messages had gone so I drove it to a mechanic and by the time I got to his they had come back again and this time the power steering went as well. He looked at the car and couldn’t see any faults regarding to the messages shown so he knew it was the bsi messing up, he opened it up and as the same as yours the middle brow panel was the one he believed messing up, there was some dirt in it, he cleaned up hoping it would solve this issue but nothing, he left it saying he didn’t know what to do apart from getting a whole new bsi unit. I’m new driver and this is my first car I’ve had for a month so I’ve got no clue what to do please could you help me or point me in the right direction, I’ve seen your tutorial on how you fixed yours but I don’t have the tools etc to replicate unfortunately. Thanks
Hi there I have a 2012 Peugeot 207 1.6 vvt auto, just this afternoon the car is not longer starting at all, there is battery however its draining, when I turn the ignition I don't hear anything, any idea what it might be?

Hi Scan the car... and see which faults are logged... throw part at it without proper diagnose, is a waste of time and money... If the faults are the DPF, you need to scan, look at the live data and try to understand why the car is reporting the fault... Hope that helps. Thank you for watching!
My 207 has similar problem with the power steering. Scanned it and it says steering pump temperature faulty. What do you think is wrong? Should I replace the pump?

Been loaned a 207 and it's suddenly developed all sorts of faults. What a terrible design for these connectors, they were always going to fail due to water collecting! I lack the equipment to even clear these codes, feel terrible about having to hand back a car to someone with all these lights and warnings even if I could work out what's causing them.
Thank you for the detailed video, I inspected all the pins I could and couldn't find any corrosion but did find a little on some fuses - suspect it's a similar issue to yours.

Hi There, I have same BSM & same issue on brown 28 pins with some pins broken. It caused Front Brake light off - small W5W bulbs (High & Low beam light without issue). Could you mind share me the fuse number to let me do same thing as your ??
I love the way u r explaining, I am having a problem with peugeot 207 evaporative emission system purge control valve circuit open. I have checked the fuse the all looking good even replace purge valve and cleared the code P0444 but a still coming back, is it any chance if you could make a video about the code P0444
Clever investigation of the problem. I really liked your way to fix it. I got peugeot 307 2006 which I had problem with head light in it . The problem was I clicked the head light, after a wile I would to switch it off and I couldn't even when I switched off the ignition switch. So the head light remain on all the time. I had a chat with a guy regarding this issue who has experience in Peugeot 307, he told that the problem is with the fuse box. I wonder if you can advise me in this issue? as I am not convinced of what the guy has said.
Galloper It can be a relay sticking... I can't recall from the top of my head, if is an external or internal relay... have a look on the BSI... It can also be the transistor inside the module, that is short or something like that... You need to follow the circuit and try to understand where is the failure... Hope that helps. Thank you for watching!
LM Auto Repairs thank you very much for your quick response. The fuse box looks exactly the same as your current vedio ( the car that has missing pin in its fuse box) so do you think that the relay is external please?
Galloper Hi Might not be... sorry... It looks that the relay is internal on that engine fuse box... You might be able to bypass it with an external relay... but better to get it replaced... However, make sure you diagnose correctly that as the culprit, last thing you want is to replace that, to find out that you have a problem elsewhere... Hope that helps...

Hi can you offer some advice on how to c!ean the fuse sockets .what chemicals tools etc mines in a terrible state and get a po693 code same car tho .thanks
It is awesome to share such a knowledge publicly. Your problem solving is persuasive. Thanks a lot! It seems that I do also have a fuse box problem (207, 2011 )according to peugeot service dealer after having problem with a/c failure. Inside the ac light working but compressor not working at all. Air flow exist' no other electric problems or failure. They said engine fuse box needs to be replaced after checking everything. But it looks fine, no corrosion or missing part. Can it be internal relay problem? if yes can it be fixed without replacement. Thanks in advance.
Ilgar Badalov Hi It might be possible... but without looking at the diagrams is difficult to say... Have you checked all the other possibilities, wiring etc... Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Hi and thanks again for quick response. I checked all wires and pins on the fuse box. They look clean and normal to me. The peugeot service center "checked" all the system that can be related to A/C failure and found out fuse box problematic. I found it a lil bit unreasonable to replace it all and thought someone can solve it simply. Someone perhaps specialist on electronics.
Ok... in that case, it might be possible to do something... check with someone in your area that are good at that sort of things... and they might be able to bypass the fuse box...

Hi, I believe that I might have same fuse problem. My power steering light was on and dealership checked and requested to change the motor, it was only last two days...then suddenly my dashboard appeared 4 warning light, which are same power steering, and esp and abs and engine light.. I took it back to them and they told me this time I need to replace an abs pump, but it was ok and never warning, that I found this three light are so ridiculous. Anyway, I have confirmed Engin is good, power steering just replaced is good, the only error code is C1350 and they said this is way I having 4 warning light on, can I follow what you have done to speak to them or try to fix it myself, because it is very expensive for abs pump and they will get me a second hand one with 3 months warranty and still quite expensive....I don't think if it is worth to do it or not, will be very appreciated if you could provide ssome advice, thanks sir.

Where is the silicone seal for this brown connector? All connectors have silicone seal to avoid humidity to enter this connections. It is obvious that the main problem that caused that issue is the missing silicone seal.

My C3 Picasso had exactly the same thing go wrong and I had to replace the whole fusebox with one off eBay. When you replace the middle plug, use some kind of sealant to help prevent it from happening again.
I love your work. You learn so much watching videos on channels like this.

brillant explaination and repair, have just carried out this same approach to a 207 diesel(Two pins broken - dsf headlamp in/op, brake light on at all times, abs fault, power steering fault, charging fault, anti pollution. so a very big thank you and thanks for using and showing your skills
No worries...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
nice repair, only thing is you need to stop the water getting into the fuse box or the fault will return in a few weeks, ive seen this fault a few times and the water tracks up through the wiring harness to the fuse box from the washer pump motor , so to prevent it happening again replace the washer pump as well.

Will never buy a Peugeot again after this
Hi from France, i had the same problem and now every thing is ok , thank you very much!!!
Great news then...

Well, it is for sure not helping...
Get it right and see what happens...
Yes... I am aware of that...👍

Thankyou I will check the fusebox abs, braking system faulty ,power steering faulty and fan running and not cutting out.

Hi Luis your videos are truly educational and helpful
I have a Peugeot partner 2013 with abs fault and I’m starting to suspect as you say it’s a common problem
I’ve checked the sensors and they are good.
Do you have communications with the module?
Which faults do you have ?
Live data, anything out of the ordinary?

In most cases ....Its useully not the scart leads in bonnet thats blown...but check anyway.. if its not scarts....then its the ecu motor thats gone under the car...easy fix...fault code will be C1414...if you have no power steering atall.
First: Do not panic
Second: Do not take it to main dealer...they will stick a bank card up your back side and draw money out through your mouth.
Third: check fuse F7 ..if thats ok
Fourth: do it yourself its just 2 torq screws or take it to a back street garage and pay them £20 to take out the ecu motor only and not whole rack.
Unplug other modules, to check for water ingress... check earth points etc...

hello my vehicle pejo 207 209 model indicator has been on the kilometer line, the starter is not in the abs brain, I said the outer fuse plate, it did not, I wonder what the problem is.

Thanks

Scan the car... and see which faults are logged... throw part at it without proper diagnose, is a waste of time and money...
If the faults are the DPF, you need to scan, look at the live data and try to understand why the car is reporting the fault...

Feel sorry to hear that...

It can be a relay sticking... I can't recall from the top of my head, if is an external or internal relay... have a look on the BSI...
It can also be the transistor inside the module, that is short or something like that...
You need to follow the circuit and try to understand where is the failure...
Hope that helps.

LM Auto Repairs thank you very much for your quick response. The fuse box looks exactly the same as your current vedio ( the car that has missing pin in its fuse box) so do you think that the relay is external please?
Galloper
Hi
Might not be... sorry...
It looks that the relay is internal on that engine fuse box...
You might be able to bypass it with an external relay... but better to get it replaced...
However, make sure you diagnose correctly that as the culprit, last thing you want is to replace that, to find out that you have a problem elsewhere...
Hope that helps...

It might be possible... but without looking at the diagrams is difficult to say...

The seal only protects so much... but yes, the seals need to be intact.
Some people trap them when fitting this plugs... seen a few cut already...
