They did do an out-and-back layout before with Prowler. I felt that Prowler is more of a wild, out of control ride (which I like), because it's rougher. I'm in the minority in that I like when a wooden coaster has a little roughness to it. GCIs are very inconsistent in how good the airtime will be. They can have bad days or ride very slow in the mornings. I've caught Mystic Timbers on good days and bad days.
Not even kidding, this is the best roller coaster review I have ever watched!!! Your footage is amazing, and this is super informative- I leaned a lot more about the ride than I thought I would (I thought I knew everything)

The second is a bigger deal and that is the spoiled anticipation. Even if you had never heard about the shed, when you get there it feels like something shocking is about to happen. The theming builds the anticipation. But then you slowly roll passed a screen with a monster and into the station. Much like the final lift hill on Adventure Xpress, you just intuitively feel like there will be a big payoff to follow after the themed area. Verbolten is a coaster that gets this right. And Mystic Timbers wouldn't even need to have something physically thrilling for this to work. It just needs some kind of a payoff and then a transition before you roll into the station. They could have something happen we're you "escape" the shed and go through a secret exit and down a long tunnel where the monster seems to chase you out. Or you could have some other effect happen that feels like a climax to the story. It doesn't need to be Disney and it doesn't need to be a beyond vertical drop into a dark tunnel. But just something to bring some kind of resolution to the adventure and separate the story from your loading station a bit more.
I've not ridden it yet, but I during October and November of 2019 I have rode Wickerman, Apocalypse, and Ghostrider, which is a CCI re-tracked by GCI and using Millennium Flyer trains CGI coasters usually use. I'd say that Wooden Coaster in China is the best GCI coaster in the world and that Ghostrider is also better than Mystic Timbers, but I might change my mind about Mystic Timbers vs Ghostrider when I ride Mystic Timbers. How do you think Mystic Timbers compares to Ghostrider?
I haven’t ridden Ghostrider, but I’m going to this year, but looking at the layouts I think Mystic Timbers has a better layout, but who knows Ghostrider might surprise me. Also where is Wickerman? Is that in a European park because I’ve never heard of that?
Fun fact, this is at my home park and I have ridden it a ton of times but not once have gotten the tree animation, I always thought it was just bats and snakes until my friend told me about the tree, weird right?
Mystic Timbers really reminds me of a Gravity Group junior woodie blown up to full-size. I think it's clear GCI was paying attention when Wooden Warrior and Roar-O-Saurus were built, and took what they saw and improved on it.
While the shed is a little eh, the coaster is amazing. Butter smooth, fast paced, and great pops of air. This coaster legitimately changed my outlook on coasters. No longer do they need to be the biggest or baddest to be a great ride
I personally think Mystic Timbers is overated, when I rode it, I probably came on with to high of expectations and the airtime was no ware near what I expected and I didn't even expect that much. I don't get how this ride has ejector because I rode Diamondback right after and that has flouter and I found that airtime to be stronger. Overall it is a really good ride with some great partime (partime = pacing + airtime) It just was not fantastic for me.

Twisted Timbers is an absolute masterpiece. It is statistically lacking, but not experientially lacking. It has extreme ejector airtime through every airtime moment. The inversions aren't spectacular, but they add variety to an already outstanding ride. My one quibble with Twisted Timbers is that I was not a fan of the outward-banked airtime hill. Other than that, it was almost a dream-like ride.
This ride is heavy overrated I never feel any air time when I ride it. People act like its an RMC and it felt like a family coaster. I truly believe even Flight of Fear is better.

The shed is great in the sense that otherwise, you’d be sitting on a boring break run in the heat

Ive never ridden prowler but watched the pov. Very similar in some ways, just more twisty than Mystic Timbers

I live in Indianapolis and I have season passes for Kings Island and I love all of the rides especially Mystic Timbers

I agree this ride is fantastic. I just hope it stays as smooth as it is now unlike Prowler.

Prowler rides rougher, at the level of most other GCIs. Both rides are short, but it is nonstop action every single millisecond.
