You shouldn't watch foreign movies dubbed to English. It takes away some mood and characteristics. And you didn't finish the film? You give 4/10 without finishing the film? and you call yourself a movie critic? WTF
@@thegringoscottproductions1699 At least with close family you can tell them "yo keep it down, you sound like a mutant horse" you know, but in a nicer way. With coworkers or people you don't know, it is more awkward.
I truly believe that all “movie reviewers” should watch foreign language films dubbed! Who wants to read and watch AT THE SAME TIME right? I also believe not finishing a film that you are reviewing should be the standard! You sir ARE the future! If you would find it easier , I can send you this comment as an audio file, f@#k reading! Although you’ll probably listen to the first sentence twice and not bother with the last one! 🤟
Nothing is worse than bad to subpar DUBBING! As a Puerto Rican I have spent a lot of my life watch Spanish dub with certain family members and while they are trying to enjoy a narrative I am cringing lol I’m sure like you said the good thing is a culture thing but it makes my skin crawl. Malcom and Marie has a scene like this when John David Washington is eating Mac an’ Cheese! Great review my friend!!!
Just finished watching the movie. What made me watch it in the first place was the fact that Jeo Yeo-been starred in it. I feel like the movie lacked a bit of depth. I totally agree that a lot of the beginning could have been cut or atleast shortened. To me the movie was mostly violence, blood and gun shooting which I get since it’s a crime thriller. Normally I wouldn’t mind that but it just didn’t have that surprising twist that most thrillers have. To quickly summarize the ending: Tae-Goo got killed, Jae-yeon went to seek revenge, killed all the henchmen/bosses in a restaurant and then shot herself at the seaside. Although the movie was mediocre and I agree with your rating I was satisfied with the ending. Wouldn’t rewatch the movie though..
What nonsense! Next yime don't watch a foreign movie dubbed, you miss out a lot...Moreover this was a gangster movie, the more reason why you should watch it in the original language...For those who have not watched it,please do..It's a damn good movie!👍🏾..I wonder why this guy reviewed it,when he didn't finish it..And I wonder why some folks are gullible too to believe him...Why don't you watch & see for yourself?
The director of the film (or was it the writer) explained that the title was "A NIGHT IN PARADISE" because "night" symbolizes the dark plot of the story and "paradise" since majority of this movie was filmed in Jeju Island, known for it's beautiful, paradise-like scenery. I like this contrast. EDIT: I had to explain the title that you are taking waaaay to literally like.... I paused not even a minute in and read in the comments that you didnt even finish watching it? Like, sir... not worth watching this review. Bye.
There's a freedom with knowing that death is imminent. Its like where we are believed to praise life, this film took a dark look on life choices, and how these are inevitably consequential. The main character male, made a choice to avenge his family's murder, and inside of this comes revenge and still the trust he thought existed did not. In his loss and moment of escape he enters another woeful situation with another soul waiting to be freed by Death, the main female character, who's parents and family were all murdered because of her Uncle's way of life. Any essence of innocence and hope is stripped from her and the bitterness that keeps her going is compounded when the Uncle is killed and both main characters become somewhat tide by fate. While this film seems dark and starts off with a very confusing 1st plot, once you watch further, the final scene is already obvious and you as the audience see what most Hollywood blockbusters of the modern age and this genre miss - death will come, in which ever path you take, the eventuality is that death will come. I give this piece of Korean Cinema a 6/10, and celebrate the main characters for sinking their teeth into the very gritty stew that is Night in Paradise.
I assume you are implying the last 20 mins brings it together and it really improves it. Im gonna say it would not have made much of a difference for me. I was forcing myself to watch it, as it was. Seems to say, it was not my type of movie. I am glad you like it. Different strokes for different folks. I suppose. : ) Thanks for watching my video.
Edit: after finishing your video I realized you never finished the movie…..why the hell would you leave a review then? That’s idiotic. Gotta let TH-cam to not recommend your content. Honestly I felt like this movie was rather easy to follow. I’m surprised the movie was liked, I just finished it and I just hated it by the end of it.
Damn you didn’t finish the movie! Wow it must of been not that great of a film! Woww well maybe I won’t check it out then! But I do like how you mentioned that cultural translation and how it can be hard understanding the films. Awesome review Scott!
I love Korean films especially ones like Oldboy and Parasite (check them out if you haven’t!) but it sucks to hear how hard this movie was to watch and get into :( I probably won’t be checking this one out that’s forsure, I don’t wanna deal with those chewing sounds either lol
The Gringo Scott Productions yeah it is only subtitled :( which really sucks because I wish it was accessible to more people, maybe someday it will get a English dub 🤔
This was on my radar and I wanted to hear what others' thoughts on it were before I watched it. I really love alot of Korean cinema, but everything you brought up here (THE PEOPLE TALKING WITH FOOD IN THEIR MOUTHS! AHHHH 😱) has convinced me this is not worth my time. Thanks for the review Scott!!!
I agree with you, I stopped watching 40 minutes in. It’s like they edited out a bunch of important parts and then decided to include a bunch of irrelevant boring stuff
You watched it dubbed, then didn’t finish the movie and then you reviewed it? 😂😂

You can say that again 💥Night in paradise was a damn good movie
This movie was very good. One of the best this year.
movie starts slow and can be boring... then towards the end the climax is enjoyable and made it good..
I think i better go back and watch the last bit of it.
LoL, that chewing @ 3:42 got my misophonia going.
Yes, that is what i have too. Oh man sometimes it drives me crazy. Makes it hard to want to eat food together around family. Lol

Didnt finish the movie? It rocks.. 8/10
Lmao what is the point in reviewing a movie if you didn’t watch the whole thing? 😂
The movie was great you should continue watching
Honestly, i am wondering at this point if i should watch it with subtitles. The dubbing may have been part of the issue.
@@thegringoscottproductions1699 oh my god ! Maybe that's part of the problem like their voices is so expressive specially the Male lead and Mr ma
Watching a foreign movie dubbed is a total noob move. What are u 12 yrs old?? Lol
