Soy curls are a whole food, because they are boiled, presed and then dried. nothing is added kind of like oats, and that is why it's a whole food meat substitute, and not a procssed meat substitute - hope this helps ;-)
I love Mayocoba Beans. They are so Creamy and wonderful. I make unfried beans with them and they are wonderful. After you eat them you will never want pinto's for unfried beans again.
@@MsPants1632 yes! I keep eating it everyday, going through boxes of organic arugula and spinach, it’s staple now like oatmeal. I love this way of eating! There’s an oil-free habernero sauce at Whole Foods with carrots, a few drops go a long way. I throw in a few tiny bits of actual habernero too for the fragrance.
High in great vegi protein, Jeff Novick talks about leaving a can of beans, or some homemade, open in the fridge, and adding a couple tablespoons full to a meal to give it a boost. Since then I have beans with almost every meal. My fave lentil has become the French Lentil. Tasty, and holds it's shape. You have inspired me to cook lentils, or green/yellow peas with my brown rice, along with some dried soup vegs. A blaster of sorts. Basically lazy cooking. Great with salad fixins as a side or wilted right in. Love this video. So much fear out there about anything that contains carbs. All vegi foods have some level of fats, proteins, and carbs. Beans are strong on proteins. Nice to know.
I have always loved lentils...I especially appreciate that they DON'T have to be soaked before you cook them! But I love chickpeas and black beans too!
Learning how to cook and use beans is absolutely essential to the plant based lifestyle. Without legumes, you don’t feel like you’re getting enough protein and you are more likely to “cheat” on the diet. I like to purée a can of beans in the blender and add them to my soups. It makes the soup creamy too. Eat a small amount of beans every day and your body will adjust and you won’t be so gassy.
I love to sprout lentils and just eat a handful out of the jar.. feels so healthy and complete. Try it. It's like a salad with this yummy nutty protein thing going on. Live food.
I love having beans in/on almost everything. There's always a batch of some kind "in the works" in my kitchen. Just recently got some soy curls and looking forward to experimenting with them. I'd add white/navy beans to the must-haves for bean paste, which can be used in place of mayo on sandwiches.
@@smallfootprint2961 soak beans 8-12 hrs, cook until soft, mash with an immersion blender and add favorite seasonings. I use onion & garlic powders, a bit of celery salt, sometimes chili powder, Italian blend - whatever your favorites are! enjoy
That mix bean soup is a staple in my house. When i go plant based, i simply go back to basic and use them more often. Healthy eating is not only good for our body, it’s also good on our wallet. You got no idea how much money i save for no longer buying oil, cheese, meat & eggs. They’re pricey and not so good for the body.
Great video !!! I love cooking beans in my insta pot. I try to remember to soak my beans if possible, to get rid of the phytic acid. Helps them be digested easier also. But if you forget, they still cook fine. Great tip on the soy curls!! I will try that.
Thank you for this video I am just getting started and still learning I think the Soy Curls also look like tuna after you had it in the food processor Thank you
Best way I Like them is to break them up partly and then let them rehydrate in a little broth for 10 min, then drain and squeeze dry. Throw them in the instant pot with my favorite barbecue sauce and a chopped onion and let them slow cook. So good!
I wish i had space to buy the 20/25 pound bags of beans, and the soy curls in bulk. I do buy 20 pounds of rice and keep them in a stainless airtight container and I have another of the same size that I have several cloth flour sacks of my beans and lentils, in. I have only about 600 sq feet and one of bedrooms is full of bikes camping stuff and bike trailers/gear, and costuming supply.
I don't want to buy all types of beans. Love your many bean soup idea. Why don't you two put together a product that we can buy. Offer different sizes, like 1 pound, 5 pound, 10 pound. you get the idea.
@@WellYourWorld I’m going to try again. I did soak them overnight and did medium simmer. Maybe I just need to try cooking them a little bit longer. I appreciate the response!
Dillon and Reebs - Thanks for the video. I have a question on your storage of soy curls. On the package it says since there are no preservatives, you should keep them in the fridge or freezer. I see you keep them in the pantry. So what is your take on that? So they last ok on the shelf? I would buy more but don’t have the freezer room.
There's nothing in soy curls that can go bad if they are left dry. It takes oil in a food for it to go rancid, and soy curls are made from defatted soy flour. That makes TVP and soy curls a really good food to stock up on, BTW.

Obsessed with black beans, brown rice with fresh arugula and spinach in a habernero sauce.

I have to admit lentils have a very special place in my heart
Agree. I just recently tried them and never knew what I was missing.

This was a great video. Reminded me I have 13 bean soup mix, dried veggies and veggie powder in the pantry. Perfect for a slow cooker meal tonight.

For the bean paste, that is... just read this and said, "for what?" thot I'd better clarify. The bean paste instead of mayo sounds fab.

Favorite bean is kidney, tops for texture and flavor cooked right I can eat them every day.

I heard that adding a couple of bay leaves helps with the phytic acid
I would love to see you guys make a red lentil pizza. I've seen it on other sites but would love to see your version!
lentils are my FAVPORITE bean. that natural peppery flavor...yummy 😋🌿
Where do you buy your beans in 25 pound bags/tubs? Edit: Do you freeze them for a time before storing in the bucket?
Love soy curls! Thank you for the video. 🌱
I really like your Essentials videos. I especially like that there are always bonus items.
P.S. I like all of your videos 😁
Thank you! 😊
Thanks for the video! I love beans 💕🤙🏼💕

so I am having lentil sloppy joes for dinner and just made a large chick pea salad
13 bean soup in the crock pot is also amazing!
Fabulous video one of my favorite foods! Thank you so much 😊
Split green peas for the win. I'll bet Dillon & Reebs can come with something more adventurous than split pea soup!
Where do you get your bulk beans?
Hi Dylan, where do you buy red lentils cheaply. Thanks in advance.
I buy them in bulk at WinCo!
@@WellYourWorld Thanks. There is no Winco in Los Angeles. I probably have to hit the Indian market.
Fun video kids!
Love you guys

Mawwiage … is what bwings us together... today 😁 Also beans 😂
😄 One of my favorite movies!

Bingo! We have all those beans! Soy Curl fajitas for dinner tonight on Taco Tuesday.
what about black eyed peas??? They're always in my bean pantry!
@ Michelle I was thinking the same thing Lol most people are not a fan
lentils with that vegan cheese sauce you guys have on the channel are absurdly good
Butler soy curls are the whole soy bean pod crushed and dried with the beans inside. Gives you fiber up the wazoo!
Are beans good for diabetics
Lentils sprout easily in 5 days.
I wonder how the split peas would taste as a flat bread
I'm a tater girl. I panic when I have no taters in house :(
Hi Reebs and Dillon ❤️❤️
Hey Valerie!
Dillon & Reebs - What about Black Lentils?
Pulses is the term used in India and the middle east.
.
I always thought Lentils and Pulses are interchangeable words.
You guys are funny.

What if u remove r it will be horrible.
Can I see the soybean one
And here I thought it was marriage.
*Not a good idea to use a metal spoon in a hard plastic food processor. Triton is as bad as polycarbonate.*
I tried to make chickpeas and they weee so hard and gross
Be sure to soak overnight and then simmer until soft, takes a good while. Old beans can stay hard. Could be that?
