Rage listener since their existence. I can tell you that those of us that were fortunate to hear of RATM actually listened to this band. They were underrated!
Most Rage songs condemn oppression and injustice. You should watch Rage's live 1993 performance of "Killing in the Name". That song condemns white supremacy and police brutality, and Rage absolutely KILLS it in that performance. Also, "Know Your Enemy" WITH LYRICS in a MUST hear.
The one and only concert I've EVER been to where not a single person was just standing there, chilling... Tens of thousands of people all jumping...I was jumping and amazed at the same time that the entire audience was what we know today as "lit." I've never seen that before anywhere else. There's ALWAYS a few people on the fringes, just vibing at any musical event... Not at the concert I was at with RATM... And the first time I learned Tom was using a guitar--A FRIGGIN GUITAR!--to imitate whatever tf magical shit he does, it blew my feeble mind... You can gleam a ton of corny lessons from Rage, but honestly their music spoke to me, let me know to think for myself and be myself...'Wake Up' is by far my favorite track from them... I came up in the hood where music like this wasn't even a thing... But making friends with everyone makes you realize the things that narrow-mindedness makes people lose sight of, the great things in life and I love both hip hop and rock passionately... backwards cap guy, I apologize I didn't catch your name, but of RATM's tracks, 1) Wake up 2)freedom 3) Maria 4) Down Rodeo might ease you into it more
You got me subscribed for swearing on government lol If you do more RATM use lyrics, you can hear a lot of very good lines, as well as awesome music. Thx for sharing your reaction.
Yo!! Nice reaction, keep up with grabbing the lyrics because Zach is a poet on the mic and he always brings an amazing message and education for us all. Definitely get on board the RATM train with some more! - Wake Up - Killing In The Name - Down Rodeo - Know Your Enemy - Sleep Now In The Fire (official music video)
Know your enemy with lyrics would be great. It's also from their first album as is killing in the name and bullet in the head. It's one of those perfect albums.
I don't agree with all of what they say about government and corporations, But I still love their music and respect their point of view. They do make great points on social issues though which I agree with
Nice reaction. Like your style. (Plural) I'd suggest "Renegades Of Funk," " Sleep Now In The Fire" (watch for the prediction of doom in the vid...) "Down Rodeo," "No Shelter," & their cover of Springsteen's "Ghost Of Tom Joad."
Lyrics are always good for Rage. Their songs are always deep. Yes it is the same shit as now days. Fyi, Zach De La Rocha (lead singer) is Mexican and the Tom Morello (lead guitarist) is half Kenyan.
Yeah... fuck the man! LOL! You two were cracking me up. 😂 PS - when listening to Rage, if possible, always have the lyrics pulled up. You can thank me later. 😉 PPS - I _love_ George Carlin!
The sad fact is that 5:58 is what most people who listened to RATM but did not understand the lyrics (or didn't bother to really read it). Many didn't listen to the rest of their discography so never really clued in to the fact that this was a FAAAAARRRRR left wing band that would never be associated with things like Republicans (well these days anyway). Yet some republicans have used their music for events and been legally told not not lol
this is exactly my reaction the first time hearing RATM just focus on the lyrics next time the message is there just be open-minded the lyrics are full of metaphor
wtf kind of intro was that, lol. Felt like watching my folks flirting.... hella awkward, sheesh. How bout maybe just talking about the song you're about to react to and make some kind of half-witted commentary about Rage or the song. Shhhhhhhhheeeeesh.
Let's remember that the "machine" isn't just the government, it's also corporatism combined with imperialism.
Machine is also people
Mmm.. Sounds like a bunch of commie gobbledygook
