Although it nears its conclusion the One Piece manga is still ongoing. The original author was heavily involved in the live action which is a series with 8 episodes in the first season.
It's hilarious that you say it's nearing its conclusion. Because it is, but that just means 6-10 more years lol which is obviously nothing compared to how long it's been around, but it's still a somewhat long way to go.

Contrary to what many fans believe, Oda has been fairly consistent with his estimates for the runtime of the series - he just hasn't taken into account that his chapter output per year has decreased over time.

One thing important is that it still ongoing, One Piece manga started in 1997 and still was weekly releases (same for the anime that started in 99) and is close to 1100 chapter. And it is as popular as ever (its the second most sold comic ever only behind Superman, which puts the author in the top 10, maybe top 5, of most sold authors of all time) just reaching the start of the final saga with the current arc. This life action will be a 8 episode series for the first saga (which is 100 chapters) and the author had veto power to anything and was included in all steps (including casting). Fans are very positive which is weird since if there was one series that should not work in live actions its One Piece but it looks great
One Piece is TOP TIER! One Piece is Master Piece! It is also a series not a movie. It's the best decision you could ever made. One Piece is a MUST for everyone. It has the most insane author of all that I even think he not human anymore because he is so good at world building.
“None of them look like pirates.” Well umm… the straw hats are supposed to be juxtaposed to actual pirates in this world. So there are *real* pirates, but only in the backdrop. Heck, gold D roger looks insanely like a pirate.
I started watching One Piece the same time I started watching Dragonball [z/gt as well], and I've always loved One Piece more. I don't know why. I really REALLY hope this succeeds, so that we can get more seasons, more characters portrayals, and more Devil Fruit abilities.
I'm too old because I just don't have the time to catch up on decades of anime, manga, etc. I don't play video games like I use to as well because it's hard to find 40 hours to play through the open world games I like. One day you will understand :)

I stopped reading a while ago. I honestly didn't even know it was still ongoing! I stopped reading Dragon Ball a while a go too, though I do catch up on some of the news to see how far they can push it still :)
it looks okay, but these shows never translate well to live action theyve never managed to get it right, and i doubt one piece will either, we can only hope that its "Passable" and that it doesnt straight up insult the source material.
i didnt like shanks zoro sanji and luffy zoro is too soft like one of the kpop sanji is just dosnt fit shanks is too bad luffy is not funny and so dramatic thats why i dont support of making a real edition of an anime its just doesnt fit real people the voice lines the actors nah i dont like it

Oda has alot of pull. He even forced Netflix to redo scenes because he wasn't happy how it looked in live action
