    3/18/18 - Last night I saw one of the best trains I have ever seen. It took days of constant tracking and quite a few missed opportunities, but on the night of March 18th all my hard work paid off. First of all, a huge thank you to DPLFilms for giving me the info needed to see this train.
    Last week Pan Am Railways picked up six of Montreal Maine and Atlantic's old units from Northern Maine Junction. Their task was to deliver them to CSX, either via Rotterdam Junction, NY or Worcester, MA. Originally the engines were waybilled to Rotterdam Junction, but surprisingly they were dropped off at the Lowell MBTA station by POED, the train that would have taken them to East Deerfield where they would then be taken to Rotterdam Junction. After a full weekend of trying to follow their whereabouts, late Sunday afternoon the units were reported sitting on the Worcester Main line that runs from Ayer, MA to Worcester, MA. This took everyone by surprise because it was still thought they were heading to Rotterdam Junction. So, I took off to try and get them moving to only, once again, see them canned and crewless. Feeling like all my efforts were for nothing, I set off dejectedly back home. Just as I was finally giving up at around 9:30 P.M., I got a text saying the locomotives were going through Clinton! I grabbed all my camera gear and was fortunate to get a ride out to West Boylston. After about an hour of waiting, the beautiful sight of headlights could be seen coming around the bend. Shortly after, POSE came rolling by with a ten locomotive consist, including the MM&A locomotives. Leading the way was MEC 7523, which is equipped with an awesome Nathan P5 horn. After the train rolled by, I contentedly headed home very happy I was lucky enough to get these engines on what is most likely their last run before the scrapyard. Enjoy the video, and thanks for watching!

    I have no respect for MMA after how they ran their company and disregarded safety altogether all for a quick buck. When you engage in corporate greed, you end up bankrupt in the end.

      It's also inevitably what happens when companies think that they are "too big to fail". They become lazy and start sacrificing things that obviously should never be sacrificed, such as safety, and it starts out small but inevitably builds up over time. Eventually it all comes toppling down, resulting in disasters like that deadly derailment in Lac-Megantic.

      C39-8 8202 was in Lansdale Pennsylvania with the Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad until 2012. It and two other c39-8s 8208 and 8207 were also in Lansdale until taken to MMA in 2012.

    • @Maine_Railfan
      @Maine_Railfan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't write them off as scrap just yet. The F40 is not in the best condition but could be resurrected. The same with the C30-7's and possibly the B39-8's. It depends on the right buyer, plus the B39-8/B40-8 market is pretty hot right now so even a little work would be enough to get the B39-8E's fixed up and back in service. I hope they will end up like most of the units which go to LTEX and will eventually be rebuilt.

    These are the locomotives I like the older EMD units three axle and two axle you know old GP 40s 38s too I've never seen so many locomotives used for a Pan am railway train in my life those were all older CSX power from very early early 2000s I would say probably 09/2010 I think CSX sold their power they're older power to Pan am railways and then in 2015 they sold even more of their retired units to them but every unit sold to them ran perfectly most of them did that's reliability I don't like the newer locomotives nowadays because no matter where you go every locomotive is identical just with a different paint scheme it's like I don't want to see all these dash nines everywhere. I want to see some sd40s I want to see some sd45s sd60s I want to see some older Amtrak units I want to see some switcher engines doing a couple local runs or some gp38 gp40s Pan am railways has a bunch of these 3,000 horsepower a pop for the GP 40s 2000 horsepower for the gp38 but some of their gp38 units they upgraded to get them up to 2500 horses but I think they only did it to a handful of them four or five of them but an extra 500 horsepower definitely help some of the engineers said I knew a few of them in my earlier years they're long gone gone now and I used to know a couple old guys down at the rail yard that used to always go down there and take pictures of the trains real fanning I do it myself I remember both of them when I was a kid and both of them are long gone in heaven by now. But it just reminds me of my earlier years rail fanning with my dad we had a blast chasing Guilford rail systems local runs going up to Mohawk trail to Shelburne falls Massachusetts next to the bridge of flowers I had a speed gun radar gun and I pointed it to the local Guilford rail systems that me and my dad caught one day it was early 2000 in the summertime I remember it it had seven units all Guilford rail system four of them were gp40s and the other three were sd40s leading and I clocked them going by the bridge of flowers kind of sort of near there at the gate right there in the middle of town and I clocked them going 39 mph you could definitely hear that thing and notch seven notch eight he had that thing opened up and I think he had about 114 cars but that was power EMD power I can't stand these newer locomotives you see them everywhere that's all you see is the same identical locomotive everywhere you go north folk southern has a s*** ton of them CSX has a s*** ton of them Union Pacific has a s*** ton of them all the major railroads have these whatever happened to all the classic locomotives it's just a shame

    i wonder what they'll do to the engines that were involved in the lac megantic derailment (two of them in the video are here 5016 and 5026) i was told they' were still ruining today including the 5017 which caused the problem (and the 3053 and the 3166 are still running too) i'm hoping they don't scrap them or repaint them

    • @IsaiahsTrains
      @IsaiahsTrains  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IsaiahsTrains i think they should take 5017 to a museam becouse it has a bit historical signifegence becouse it was leading that oil train that crashed

    • @ironlung7176
      @ironlung7176 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. 5017, deffently should be in a museum.

    • @arianarwin9820
      @arianarwin9820 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I remeber hearing about 5017 being put into a museum, but I don't think that'll happen, especially in Quebec. The thing is for the people from Lac-Megantic, that was the lead locomotive from the train that destroyed their town. There is a bad omen surrounding that locomotive, especially for those people who lived in the town or lost loved ones from the accident. Though I understand the idea and I definitely see its potential as an exhibit in a museum, I just don't think that'll happen. Even if they wanted something from the disaster as an exhibit they could pick a relic from the town instead of a whole locomotive. In the end I think what'll happening to the locomotives that MMA had rostered, the C30-7s in particular, will likely find themselves in the scrapyard. Not only are they extremely old, but they likely weren't maintained well on the MMA and were kept in storage for several years. That and I'm not too sure how excited some rail systems would be to acquire the locomotives from the railroad that destroyed an entire town in addition to killing 47 people.
