Transport Security

This webinar will discuss the unique challenges associated with protecting nuclear and radioactive material from unauthorised removal and sabotage during transport. It offers a practical understanding of what is required to develop, implement and maintain an effective security system during transport. In doing so, the session will draw upon international good practice, discuss key risks and challenges, as well as offer practical examples of effective transport security. By the end of the session, participants will have an understanding of:
The important role transport plays in supporting the nuclear fuel cycle;
The types of threats facing nuclear and radioactive materials in transport and the potential consequences should theft and/or sabotage occur;
International recommendations regarding the security of nuclear and radioactive materials in transport; and
The practical implementation of these recommendations to ensure the security of nuclear and radioactive material in transport is delivered in an effective and proportionate way; and
Some of the key challenges the transport sector is currently facing.
