I’m one of a few people who found about the original film from the announcement of the sequel. After seeing how beloved it was, I decided to check it out myself on Netflix. I just saw this movie for the first time a few days ago and I loved it! My favorite part is when he shouts “good morning neighbors” from his balcony and someone yells “f**k you!” and he replies “yes! f**k you too!” lol
As with Groundhog Day, absolutely *everybody* in the cast is good here, however big or small their role. More often overlooked dialogue? “You are not Akeem.” “I know that.” “What is this?” “A photograph.”
I'd forgotten how much I loved this movie as a kid. They just don't make them like this any more. Fingers crossed for Coming 2 America, I guess? I always wondered why Arsenio Hall was never in more stuff, he was great in this - I did just find out he voiced Winston in the real ghostbusters cartoon though. Wait...what was I talking about?
I think it has to do with the fact that there's a limited amount of time and space in Hollywood movies for black comedians/actors. Also, in "Coming to America" it is clear why Eddy Murphy was the top dog so I don't think there were many investors eager to invest in Hall as a main star in their movie. Also, Eddy Murphy's own brother, the late Charlie Murphy, had his own style of humor, as shown in the Dave Chapelle skits. Yet I never heard of him untill I found the RICK JAMES skits on the internet.
@@AudieHolland It might have had more to do with the fact that he had a very popular talk show that ran for 6 seasons shortly after this film was released. After that, he continued to work in television, hosting and guest-starring all over the dial. He also did quite a bit of charity work. He was busy, well-paid, and raising his son. He didn't need to star in movies. He's worth at least $16 million. I think he'll be okay.
You know, its been years since the song came out and I only now realized where LMFAO got the royal p*nis is clean line in "Yes" from. I honestly dont remember that scene from the movie. Though too be fair its been decades since I last saw coming to america, and may not have ever seen it other than on tv so that scene being cut makes sense.
The open space was to the prince's left, because Akeem is on the left in that shot. The windows are to the king's right, and that is maintained in subsequent shots ... Otherwise, crazy good and detailed breakdown, my guy! 👍🏾

The dance number in the beginning should NOT have been sinned. In fact, it should have had 10 sins removed for its AWESOMENESS!
That dance number was one of the best in cinematic history and should NEVER be sinned.

The Queens common parts joke went right over your head lol
Birdman will handle this lmao
@@russellrobinson6404 I was JUST thinking THAT when Jeremy SINNED THE DANCE 💃🏾!!!! 😐☠🖕🏾
@Brian Cairns the joke in the movie is referencing the rampant prostitution in Queens. Aka common parts
A lot of things go over his head
@Brian Cairns Also read the joke as a sarcastic quip about how he didn't help the driver at all with his answer. Like a "oh yeah, sure, take me to the TALL man, because there's so few of those around" kind of thing.
“Passing over some serious talent. if this were me, Movie OVER!”
Me too brother
“Bark like a dog”*looks at camera*”you see this shit”?
I’m one of a few people who found about the original film from the announcement of the sequel. After seeing how beloved it was, I decided to check it out myself on Netflix.
And I definitely enjoyed it. There’s a charm to it that many romantic comedies nowadays seem to lack, and the stellar performances from everyone, especially Murphy, brings the movie together.
Lmao he went after another classic. Can't wait for Th3Birdman to get on this.
He went mad on the 'friday' vid so I can't wait for him to rip into this one too
Although he usually doesn't cover the extras at the end.... that clip of "People who've brought down property values in Mr. Rogers' neighborhood" deserve to lit on fire.
He did say Jeremy should cover more of these movies.
I love when you review movies like this .. I wonder if you’ll ever address Birdman cause he’s gonna review this for sure 😂
Th3Birdman s so much better than this channel please spread the word through the comments

And now I can never unsee that Akeem sleeps like a vampire.
wait....
Thanks for the "Did this guy win a contest to be in the movie?"
It happens.
14:37 "Stealing" Don't know why that cracks me up so much.
See the whole trading places guys not recognize him is because in their eyes we all look alike. That's obvious due to their attitude in the original movie.
Aren't they different characters just played by the same actor?

Watching this made me realize that I think this was the first movie I ever saw Samuel L Jackson in. Totally forgot he was the robber.
For the big screen, this was the first movie Samuel L Jackson saw Samuel L Jackson in LOL.... (he also had a small scene in School Daze the same year, but this was his breakout role)
Jeremy’s gonna have a field day when he sins the 2nd one lmao
Yall need to sin Trading Places now. I love that movie.
Yeah that would be interesting. They’ll probably take a few sins off for the bl*ckface scene, but I would so watch that.

That twilight zone joke was cold man.
Loved it!
I really got hit with an ad for the 2nd movie right as the video ended. What kind of magic is this
I just saw this movie for the first time a few days ago and I loved it! My favorite part is when he shouts “good morning neighbors” from his balcony and someone yells “f**k you!” and he replies “yes! f**k you too!” lol
Birdman is going to have a field day with Cinema sins after this
Can't wait
Wonder if he'll point out how they took sins off for the racist whiteface makeup
I just can't wait!
0:50 in german they say "The small prince is clean", did not expect the original to be so blunt hahaha
😂🤣🤣😂😂 thats funny! At what year did you watch the original American version??
You and honest trailers just love to talk bout the same movie at the same time...sweet
13:32 -- That "Hello, King?" always got me.
As with Groundhog Day, absolutely *everybody* in the cast is good here, however big or small their role. More often overlooked dialogue? “You are not Akeem.” “I know that.” “What is this?” “A photograph.”
Respect on how much he loves this movie this is a classic.

The LA or New York line @3:45 is a joke about nearly all Hollywood movies being set in one or the other. Sin rescinded!
The open space was to the prince's left, because Akeem is on the left in that shot. The windows are to the king's right, and that is maintained in subsequent shots ...
Otherwise, crazy good and detailed breakdown, my guy! 👍🏾
