    a pessimistic part of me can’t believe that there’s a market for assets, but numbers don’t lie! really cool work and, indeed, nice store pages that get to the point quickly! I’ve dabbled with the idea of selling assets since I love tiny art, and it’s really reassuring to hear that even 16px sprites get love and see life. congrats on the success and thanks for the inspiration!!

      Any serious game developer who realizes they don't want to sit in court over stolen assets and pay more than they made on their game will pay for assets. And ofc all the aspiring ones as well.

    • @Kenmi
      @Kenmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +28

      yeah and mine are dirt cheap for what you get. The other thing is that not everyone is an artist and still wants to make pixel art games and ready assets aare cheaper than hiring an artist.

    • @albinalteborn
      @albinalteborn 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      32x32 pixel art, in one tile that is 32^32 different combinations of pixels, that’s several billions times the amount of people on the planet. The more choice there is, the more satisfaction customers can feel, and as an artist you have your very own unique combination out of those 32^32 combinations. Your voice is irreplaceable. Not even an AI can generate that many tiles, and if it did it would take a lifetime to look through them all as opposed to making it yourself, directly manifesting what you want to see.

    • @4tarobyte
      @4tarobyte 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@albinalteborn huh... you have a point. Thank you for the reassurance!! I've indeed been flip-flopping between being discouraged by and defiantly inspired despite AI slop taking over my image searches and feeds. But real art will prevail and it'll always be too fun to ever stop doing, anyway 😤

    • @Kenmi
      @Kenmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      Oh I don't look at it that way. I made this cause this as a hobby and I didn't suspect to get anything out of it at all. The other thing is that for me 3.5k$ is like 3 minimal wages worth of money when i convert this into my currency so its kinda nice especially when I study and can keep paying bills with my hobby instead of the boring office work. So it really depends on the perspective and where you live.

    • @jeffstienstra3615
      @jeffstienstra3615 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Kosro its helpful to remember the potential for recurring revenue. Yes it is a huge time investment to make a new asset pack, but there is potential for the income to continue over a long period. I'm sure it will taper off over time, and will require well-planned updates to the pack to maintain interest, but if you're already making art as a hobby, this is a great way to make enough extra income to purchase items that make your hobby more fun. (or buy groceries)

      it really depends if its a side hustle or passive income. You could make some sprites and sell them without maintaining anymore and they would slowly sell over time. I love doing pixel art, but I need a software dedicated to it for either Windows or Android. Do you know of any great softwares?

    • @Kenmi

    Sorry if this a dumb question but what is the deliverable? Is it like a folder with all of the art as png images with transparent backgrounds? I’m really interested in trying my hand at doing it!

      Look into how the game engine your targeting handles sprites and such and then make it as seemless as posible to drag and drop the files into the engine for use

    Do you advertise your assets too? It wouldn't make any sense if I do the same thing and I got no visitors because the site wouldn't advertise it so it appears in the page for a short amount of time. That's the problem I was concerning back then.

    has anybody tried to redistrubute your assets? or attacked you personally for creating such things? - i have had previous experience of toxicity with many different projects i try to put my heart and soul into but with negative feedback and that makes me scared to try to make money online.

    • @Kenmi
      @Kenmi  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Once one guy tried to farm karma on reddit using my rocks. I've dealt with him quickly though. With assets though people have been really supportive and nice at least to this point. Of course there were some toxic comments that they are too expensive or that i shouldn't make new packs and just add all the stuff I'm making into the already existing pack and not charge extra for my work, but if criticism isnt constructive and is just straight toxic then i don't take it to the heart. But for sure you have to be tough cause there will always be someone on the internet who tries to ruin your day.
      My advice would be, Listen what others say about your projects, filter constructive criticism, consider what would work for you and your project best and do your thing. You have no idea but before i made any money from my pixel art I had my peers laugh at me for making such things, mom ad dad said to focus on university and leave the art behind like nobody believed. They don't laugh now.

    Bruh 1k$? Are u kidding me? Thats 80k₹ in ny country. And average wage in india is less than 20k₹. With this much monthly income one would be considered rich here, it wont be passive income or low paid labour as some people say that.
    Edit: Mom I Am famous!!!!

    • @Kenmi
      @Kenmi  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Yeah perception of money is really dependant on where you live. I live in Poland and that 1k$ is a huge boost for my monthly wage. It literally doubles my wage here. Especially when I'm on University and don't have full 160hours a month to work.
