  • After 7 years my boyfriend and I finally made the decision to get married in Japan. It was SURPRISINGLY easier than I thought it would be. I made this video to help all the people out there like me, with the love of their life and ready to make the next move. Watch to hear how we ended up here 7 years later and what the process to get married was like, and how easy it can be for you too!
    As always thanks for watching!!

      I’m happy to share, especially because I hope it helps people, gives them new insight, and encourages them :) And we are having a ceremony and reception soon but we will take it outside of Japan so that it is easy for both families to attend 😁 Thanks for watching ❤️

    Hello, thanks for all the info! What did you bring with you when you you went to the American Embassy to get notarized?

    • @kimberdesu140
      @kimberdesu140  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You must bring your passport and money to cover the notarization fee. It is $50, but if you are a resident and making your income in yen, be prepared to bring $50 worth in yen, to pay for the fee.
      Thanks for watching. Goodluck with your marriage :)

      @@kimberdesu140 Thanks for the reply! Oh wow that's really simple I thought you would have to bring your birth certificate or something like that. You don't need to pay the exact amount in yen, right?

    • @kimberdesu140
      @kimberdesu140  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No problem. Yes, the notarization is actually quite simple. I think what is difficult is scheduling an appointment at a decent time. The hours of the embassy are the same as most regular schools. So in my case I had to take some time off from work in order to visit the embassy.
      As for the money situation, if you are paying in yen, you need to pay the exact amount. They will convert the cost for you, and then you pay $50 in yen, down to the exact yen. So my recommendation is that you bring over the amount that you expect to pay, that way you will surely be over and not under. If you can not pay you will most likely have to reschedule for another day.
      Hope this makes sense 😅

      @@kimberdesu140 thank you! Sorry I have one more question. On the affidavit you need to write a US Address but we’re living in Japan currently. So, did you just put your parents address?

    Did you do long distance dating for 7 years?!

    • @kimberdesu140
      @kimberdesu140  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes, technically. We were doing long distance between countries for about two years, and when he moved to my state we were still doing long distance within that state. We only visited so often because where I went to college was about two hours away and I didn’t have a car. We started living together for about a year and then we did long distance again and then we lived together once more for a year and then he went back to Japan and then it was long distance between countries again. Others have had more difficult ldr with not being able to even see their partner and that was definitely not the case for me, but with how long we had been apart I still considered it to mostly be a ldr. Can’t believe our situations and now we are finally living together and there is no reason why we would do ldr again thank goodness ❤️ thanks for leaving a comment :)
