Sir, as a plumber you might find this useful. To add weight to my truck in winter, I have two 4 foot sections of 6” PVC pipe that I have capped on both ends. I filled them with sand. I can strap them down anywhere in the bed of my truck. They don’t rot like sandbags do, I’ve had mine for at least ten years. Thanks for all your videos, I really enjoy them.

Add water to the sand to increase the weight

This man won't take your advice, he knows it all 🤣.
This is a great idea with the pc pipe, My gramps would add buckets full of concrete to add wait.

Or just build a wooden crate from scrap wood and fill it with snow using the Bobcat. You have weight when you need it, and when road melts so does the weight.
But to reply on Art's comment, He doesn't think he knows it all, he just doesn't read the comments so he'll never see your advice.

@@chrischristenson4547 Assuming the PVC pipe is filled with sand, adding water will undoubtedly add weight, but doesn’t that also dramatically increase the chance of cracking the pipe when the water freezes and expands?

I don't know if you've seen what Ambition Strikes is doing... (another homesteading youtube channel)... now THEY are gonna have an industrial size commercial kind of plow. I think they are up in your area... they are in Idaho anyway. You've done a great job on a budget, and I always love watching your uploads. Thanks for sharing this journey with all of us.

I can't be the only one who suggests this but you have all the weight you need for the back end everywhere you look....SNOW! If it's wet, it's heavy. A few buckets from the skid steer onto the bed will weigh it down and when it melts it'll be distributed somewhere other than your immediate parking area. We do it with smaller pickups here in Chicago. Load up the box and off ya go.

One of my simple pleasures is watching your daily life. I'm 47, 2 kids, a wife, 2 little dogs and a cat in a 3 bedroom apartment in a beautiful community with rivers and not far from the Atlantic Ocean. I have land that I dream of developing into "Ogden Ranch" and I watch everything Heath does. I'm afraid I'll be too old to realize my dream, but seeing someone live this type of life away from the city makes me smile. God bless your home and your family.

Food for thought from an old Phoenix guy. Before I could afford a 4x4, when I'd run up to Payson or Flag' I learned to put about 6 bags of sand in the bed over the rear axle. Had the weight I needed and in the event of ice, the sand came in handy to pour out for grip on the ice when needed.

I think this is my first comment in 6 years of watching your channel. I connect with your appreciation of hard labor and determination. Though our lives are very different, I congratulate you, a hard working man for identifying the honorable joy you get to have plowing your roadroad into the sunset. My driveway is 4.3 miles long north of the boarder in BC, my old Chevy 1500 plows 17.2 miles every time it snows. (4 passes on the road). I prefer to plow well before the sun gets up ( 5am in winter ) so I can have the most quiet hours of the day to myself, and my truck of course. Keep the amazing content coming Heath!

Way to go Heath! You are living my dream and I love watching. My dad taught me as a teenager how to check and change the oil. How to change a tire. All the things that might help me, help myself. As a young married 18 year old, I was the parts cleaner for every fixer upper car we ever got. Or "can you fit your hand in there and undo that bolt". I wouldn't change any of the trials that came with marriage or used vehicles. Not that they are one in the same 😁. I'm a Florida girl born and raised so snow was never an issue. I work in a factory for 30 yrs on the floor and still do and how I wished I could have homesteaded like you and your family. Having a temperamental boss really makes me wish I could have been my own boss. I'm hard on myself anyway. I love watching to get away from the rest of the world. Every video is so clean without cursing. I've watched all of the Waltons and little house on the Prarie and you are clean with new videos twice a week. What more could I want. Keep them rolling. Love it. Your family is the best!❤

I am also a native Floridian but felt it was time to move. You are now over 22 million in population, and it will only get worse with open borders.
At 58 the heat, humidity AND hurricanes made the decision an easy one.
Bought 35 acres in NE Wyoming haven't had nearly as much snow as Heath thankfully ,and can't wait to build a home there.
      Population LESS than 600 thousand,
      no traffic jams here 😂
My advice, move before your only choice for meat and protein is lab grown meats and bug protein, scary future no doubt.

thats the thing about watching homesteader channels.. I may not agree with some of the things that people do but its still interesting to see the outcomes of what other people do... Everyone is going to make different choices because everyone is different.. and there are 3 ways to learn.. you do it yourself and make your own mistakes and do it again.. you take the advise of people with your best interest in heart and realize thats why they give you advise... or you emulate what you've seen others do that works. ............. The first way is the overall hardest running into the wind and darkness blind ... the second is the hardest to accept sometimes taking advise means realize you don't know something and have to rely on others for the best outcome... the third is the hardest to obtain because if you ever want to try something new it means you can't base it on what your parents or neighbors might have ingrained in you as you grew up or what you might learn as an adult by observing others. .......... the key to it all is understanding where you are in those three possibilities and knowing what you have to do to get to the other side in the easiest way. ... either that or life is tough and you make lots of bad choices. .. there really isn't much else to it.

Carbon monoxide in the cab? Use a home CO monitor when it’s idling or while you drive it. Your nose cannot sense CO tho’ it can smell some elements of combustion. This is a quick way to tell if exhaust is entering the ban. It’s also cheaper that a visit to the ER. Nice job on the truck. Gonna add any LED lights to the truck or skid steer?

When I bought my 15 Denali, it had an auxiliary tank in the bed. It's plumbed with a Line from the bottom of the tank to a tee in the fill hose. A small line with a solenoid in line and a switch in the cab.. If it's full, I wait until the main tank is running out and flip the switch. It drains ever so slowly into the main tank. I filled both tanks on Dec 20 about 300 miles from home. My alternator went out so the truck was down for several days but as of yesterday I had drained all from the Aux. tank into the main and I'm sitting with a full tank. I managed to find Diesel for $3.529 in Mitchell SD so that's why I filled both tanks. Normally I don't use the Aux unless I'm traveling.

Suggest mud flaps across the back and a pipe frame for the right side to protect the windows and mirror when plowing. Have a great week.

Liked the music better than "Ain't Gonna Live This Way No More"...
Excellent job and it turned out far better than we expected but you are talented enough to make it happen.

Love the new plow truck. Especially the custom flatbed. Now just try to hold on to it for more than 2 seasons. 😆
