Those toll roads meant you missed Porlock Hill, the steepest A road in Britain! Would've been fun to see the 350Z test out a lack of ABS going down. On a summer's day, you can smell the woft of burning brakes even on the other side of the village.
That's just down the road from my folks and can confirm, Porlock smells strongly of brakes and clutch. There's a local garage in Porlock that must do very well on clutches and brake pads haha
@@bearwynn It's a right of passage for locals, I feel. With modern cars, I think even tourists wouldn't struggle so long as they're prepared for the third turn up. I've done the toll road from Porlock Weir once, solely to make the walk to Culbone Church a little shorter. Can't possibly think of a reason to go by either otherwise.
I’d put money on the misfire being a coil pack starting to break down, we burn through them on our drift car. They start intermittently misfiring and then fully give up.
Love this channel now lads. Proper car guys. Proper car content. Good job for keeping things focussed on the reason why we all started following... Unlike some channels who have completely gone off the boil.
As a citizen of Weston Super Mare, I can confirm that you saw the best bits😂 If you're ever passing again however, one end of the beach is a carpark and you can drive on it. Perfect place for some skids but you didn't hear it from me *cough* 😅
Used to live near Porlock. Lovely little place, but a bit boring. Also grew up on and around Dartmoor. Seeing that road again near the old Quarry brought back some great memories of going sledding near Princetown. We spent alot of time up on the moors, we were practically raised outside. What a great video, so many memories for me came flooding back. Still local-ish, just been a long long time
I’m thoroughly enjoying your channel, your videos have very quickly become the ones I have to watch asap as I notice they’re available to watch! For me, the way you are competing against each other in your challenges while at the same time so clearly working together to make sure you both get where you want to go makes your videos particularly satisfying to watch. I hope you keep this theme going, cheers guys
Very cool to see you guys up on Dartmoor. These roads are 15-20 minutes drive from where I live and I love them. Sam from seen through glass also did a video around the area recently. Glad the roads are starting to get recognition. Love the videos !!
Best video yet!! I have loved seeing my local area on TH-cam I drive across Dartmoor every day. It was great meeting you last week, thank you for taking the time to speak to me in the awful weather. The snow came on Thursday and we had 10-15 CM on the moors so it’s lucky you picked the day you did.
Grandma bought me a skid day at thruxton back in early 2000s. Ford sierra and a load of oil on tarmac. Looks a bit different now! Good fun day and learnt a lot.
Now this is a great video. What a way to exemplify just what it is about cars that we love so much, and how opinions can be changed through a visceral, hands-on experience.
Slightly off topic i recently did the off road experience here, I did it in the Suzuki jimny, which much to my surprise was almost brand new (300) miles and stock apart from tyre's, great capability and much nicer to drive than the Land Rovers.... great Instructor too.
You guys have a natural chemistry together. It's been replicated a lot since topgear, but there is something about you two that sort of comes naturally. Maybe you two are really good mates in real life as well.
Really enjoyed that. Thought the boxster would break down and the Datsun be faultless. Both lovely cars. My dad had the 280Z earlier shape and was hopeless in corners but straight line speed was fantastic, pushed you back in the seat and the instrument pod one of the most attractive in any car imo
Guys this is bloody excellent content!
