Grandma bought me a skid day at thruxton back in early 2000s. Ford sierra and a load of oil on tarmac. Looks a bit different now! Good fun day and learnt a lot.
I've also daily driven a C55 AMG. The weakest link was the automatic gearbox, lack of Limited Slip Diff, and that you cannot turn off the traction control.
The skidpad was a bit uneducated. The boxter will always be harder to slide because of it's engine placement. A front engined rear drive car is much easier to control than a mid engined rear drive car. The fact Edwin could hold it for so long was quite impressive, especially when you factor in the wheelbase of the boxter is quite short.
@@lwv52 Yes, that is exactly why rear engine rear wheel drive is much worse. Moving the engine to the rear moves the weight distribution rearwards. I couldn't find numbers for a boxter, but a 911 is around 60% rear / 40% front, which is absolutely terrible! It is pretty insane that they manage to make some of the fastest cars on the planet from such an "unbalanced" platform.

Tip for the 350Z - those ABS/TC lights come on when you've _really_ pissed off the pixies. If the rear wheels spin significantly faster than the fronts for too long, those lights will stay on until the code is cleared on the ABS computer. I don't _think_ it can be cleared through pure OBD2, but any decent scanner should let you access the ABS module and clear it. Failing that, a copy of Nisscan 2 and a compatible cable will sort you right out. As for the misfire light, it stores the code until it's cleared and the light reflects that
I've had the ABS light come on at dyno days on my Pug 206 GTi and Honda CTR probably for the same reason. The ABS computer gets confused on why the front drive wheels are spinning to high rpm's. whilst the rears aren't rotating at all. It used to clear itself after about 50 miles of normal driving.
