For those wondering about their dreams/career/college: I'm coming out of my quarter-life crisis and have discovered some really great things in this arena. We're told when we're young to "do what you love" and turn whatever you enjoy into a career, but I'm so much happier now that my approach is "do something that ENABLES you to do what you love." If that means your job is what you love, that's great. But if you just have a job you like with a healthy environment, good pay/benefits, and time to enjoy your other interests, that's also great! There are more ways to be happy than capitalism and hustle culture would lead you to believe. Enjoy school, stay in touch with theater as much as you want (that's why there's community theater), and learn and try as much as you can.
And life is long! At 34 I’m on my second degree working on my second love while working in a career I truly enjoy that has nothing to do with either degree. Make time for things that brings you joy and everything else will fall into place.
As a gay man I actually enjoyed the positive conversation being made so casually by only straight guys 😅 obviously love Eugene but I feel we already know he would love everything about it, the fact that 4 men in straight relationships that aren’t known for conceptual art and dance gave so much more credit to the song and video but also so much extra respect for the community by not making the conversation purely about a sexuality like so many other conversations have 💖 Aaand I’m sure it will come up again Eugene has said how much he loves Lil Nas X 😂

As a 50 year old I’ll say you’re bang on guys. Careers can define us but we must remember we always provide the brief. I’m making a major career change and I’m thrilled. The path not taken, where will lead? What hair will I have?
The chickens prank was done at my high school one year where they were numbered 1, 3, and 4, and let loose. I know it happened because I was using one of the bathrooms when a fucking numbered chicken wandered in and I could see it’s feet under the stall door hahaha
Several years after I graduated from high school, a group of seniors stole some goats from a local farm and put them on the roof of the high school (but on the part of the roof that’s lower than the rest and is easily seen). Honestly I felt bad for the goats.
I know this is a very small portion of the video, but kids should learn a second language before they start puberty. I am in a second language acquisition course right now and that is one of the big points they chose to make because your brain goes through a lot of changes during puberty which means most things learned during puberty you forget so it’s better to learn it before or after but not during.
Thank you guys for the chat about college and careers. I've had so much anxiety about me wanting to leave the career that I went to school for. This made me feel like its OK to want to change your path from your major in college.
I definitely agree with the emotional labour to clean thing! Some messy people (like me!) have an actual block in their head stopping them cleaning. I will sit and stare at the dishes I need to wash for an hour before I do it haha
I have to share my own cow story. My parents had just recently moved us to a bigger house with a yard and I was ready to go out and play (I was like 6) and I slammed the door and shouted, "Mom! There are cows in the yard!" This was back in the age of phone books so she called around and got a farmer who just sighed and said, "I'm sorry, this happens all the time."
as someone who’s about to graduate college and just took my first post-grad job offer in a field completely unrelated to my degree, the talk about changing career paths and making your passions supplementary to your job was super refreshing to hear. i’m constantly worried about whether i’m making the right “career moves” by not jumping right into a creative industry, but hearing your perspectives on pursuing different things throughout your life made me feel more reassured. love you guys!
my roommates and i had a rule that if you used things in the kitchen, you had to immediately clean it after you'd eaten so that it was left the way you found it. it worked for us, but we all cooked sometimes so we were motivated to keep things clean for ourselves/each other.
Best intro, you totally had me fooled. In my junior year of highschool my friend bought me a prank kit because I was kinda into pranks, and we used them all in English class. The best one was when we orchestrated a pencil drop, we got the whole class ready to drop their pencils at the same time when I said a code word and then the teacher saw what was happening and started kicking our pencils back to us, slipped on one and fell. Next day he told us that he later found out when he fell he ripped his pants.. he was such a great teacher so I felt really bad about the pants ripping but it was just too perfect
I am in the process of changing my career. I graduated from art school, worked in various design mediums and burned out. I am moving into healthcare and all I can see is all the intrinsic link between art and science. I wouldn't change my initial BFA, but I do wish I'd made this change sooner.
I’m convinced in the future, kitchens will just all be the small appliances like air fryers, instant pots, etc. No stoves, ovens, microwaves, just appliances everywhere

When I was 5 my dad lived across from a piano school. I hadn't even noticed it was april 1st, and he said to me from the window: Come over here, quick, there's a horse playing the piano! And I was like: What? What's going on? He and my stepmom laughed so hard. - And I hadn't even realised it was a piano school, I was so confused at that moment ... 😄
Zach's comment about the journalism major was pretty spot on to my experience. I went from an archeology major to print journalism and do (did) that professionally for 10 years (taking a break), but I'd say about half of the people in my class ended up switching to marketing/advertising. But from the age of like 8 through high school I really thought I wanted to be a fashion designer.
Not my prank but I heard it go down. In high school I was, ironically, sitting in Spanish class on April Fool's Day when I heard screaming coming from the Latin teacher next door. He was literally bellowing to the point that my Spanish teacher stopped what she was doing to go next door and see if everyone was ok. She came back looking calm but almost a little amused, and refused to say what was going on. I found out later: A guy I knew snuck into the Latin teacher's classroom while he wasn't there and flipped his file cabinet upside down (I assume there were co-conspirators, that is no easy task). The Latin teacher went to the cabinet to grab something, pulled the drawer and everything fell out and went all over the floor. He was not pleased. Pretty sure the kid who did it had detention until the end of time.
That roommate situation is currently me. My sister who is in her late 20s doesn't work (health reasons) but also doesn't contribute in the house unless I ask her to. She know she's supposed to vacuum... only vacuums when I call her out, won't clean the bathroom even though she takes multiple showers a day, doesn't clean the kitchen after she cooks on the rare occasions she does, I work 8 to 10 hours a day and she has the audacity to ask me what I'M making for dinner..... it's been over a year and I'm getting fed up

Y'all have got it right: dreams change. A lawyer friend of mine became a schoolteacher later in life. I came from a musical background and went back to school when I was 30 for an A.S. in paralegal studies. Theater is a great major that helps develop English skills, which are sorely lacking in our workforce today. A belated Shalom Pesach to the tribe!
i sympathize with that theatre kid - i had a MAJOR crisis recently as a college athlete, questioning if i wanted to continue playing my sport or not. ultimately, i decided to stick with it, but having played lacrosse since i was 8 yrs old, i had a major identity crisis when i was trying to think through it. my biggest advice, as a college student, would be to go to a liberal arts school!! go somewhere that has options for you to change your mind if you want to. i agree with miles for SUUUURE
My advice for the cleaning section; my roommate and I who she never ever cleaned and I always cleaned, we decided to make every Sunday or Saturday night cleaning time where we would put on the SICKEst playlist and we were like “we both should clean together on this day to keep it nice, together!” ANS make it a fun time so theh don’t think they’re the main issue but then once a week mix it up so they have to clean the stuff that THEY did, it’ll honestly keep up.
Heck, my husband and I have to have a chore chart 🤣 If we don’t I end up doing everything and am resentful OR I nag him and he’s resentful. It makes things so much more smoothly and our kids like completing their chore chart right alongside us. Helps keep us all on track!
I have some video ideas for you: Cleaning hotel rooms (nice once), and make a contest of how fast you can do 3 or something like that. It could be like a ode to the hard working hotel staff :) And a rap battle, maybe an anti roast
