Those who love The Incredibles are going to be baffled to learn that the film would have been traditionally animated if Warner Brothers didn't turn the project down for Osmosis Jones.

It is really depressing how hand drawn animation is dead. Even when the movie is bad it still looks gorgeous.

The demise of hand drawn animation in North America started with Warner Brothers. The failure of Quest for Camelot started a series of events that ultimately lead to Warner Brothers promoting The Iron Giant poorly. Test screenings in April 1999 were held to convince Warner Brothers to promote The Iron Giant properly. However, a month before the test screenings started, Warner Brothers released in theaters The King & I, an independent animated film whose failure would give the studio a reason to ignore the overwhelmingly positive test screening for The Iron Giant.

It was inevitable, warner bros was only trying to duplicate disney's success at the time. They did, however, have a chance to success when they hired talented people like brad for instance.

If you took some time to watch the documentary called The Giant's Dream, you come to understand that The Iron Giant is a much better animated film than The Lego Movie because the former actually had strong and good ambitious. Brad Bird wanted Warner Brothers Feature Animation to have its own identity. That is the one of the reasons why he constantly turned down John Lasseter's invitations to join Pixar. Brad Bird actually had no desire to do any computer animated films, but Warner Brothers rejection of the Incredibles in favor of Osmosis Jones forced him to join Pixar.

If I ever wrote any good The Simpsons episodes of my own, I would totally bring back Brad Bird and Rich Moore to voice some characters since they voice secondary characters in their own animated films, The Incredibles and Wreck-it Ralph. Also, all four main voice actors of Wreck-it Ralph have been in The Simpsons by 2011. December 18, 2019, 10:17pm

I think that once you, as a writer or a director, play a character in your own animated film, everyone starts paying attention to you. I felt that before with Andrew Stanton, who voiced Zurg in Toy Story 2, and I feel the same for Brad Bird after he voiced Edna Mode in The Incredibles. I still think Andrew Stanton is way cooler because he is the only Pixar staff voice I know who actually got to play an antagonist. March 27, 2020, 6:28pm
