- In this video I start a new job.... It's a Renault 5 GT TURBO!!! for Dream Car Giveaways!
The car is pretty mint anyways so I'm just doing some little tidy up jobs, in this video I tackle the few problems I've found including the dreaded French electrics! :-(

@@tomsrensen3906 They look like Corvette wheels. I've seen a few on VW's but never on a 5. However he did say they were Alpine wheels, look like from the GTA, minus the centre caps.

Brilliant. Brings back the days many years ago when I had one. Wheel bearings, clutch cables, doors opening themselves, water puddles on floor, only to mention a few issues. Despite all of this I loved it. Sold for 1200, so there you go. Probably worth bit more these days. Thanks for doing the video. It’s good to see around one again.
Takes me back to the 90s. Mates brother had a slammed blue R5 turbo with blue neons underneath and a sound system worth more than the car. At 17 I thought it was the best thing I'd ever seen

R5 turbo, fiesta rs turbo, escort series 1 rs turbo, punto gt, uno turbo. What a time to get into cars the late 80 and 90's were! Iconic cars!
205 gti was one of the best 90’s hot hatches,
my best mate had one of these but not a raider, absolute wall to wall fun and such a great looking car, brilliant design!

I had a Raider, I drove it flat-out everywhere in the late 90s, great memories! This one is in beautiful original condition. So many got Barried, such a shame
I had the blue raider in my 20's (54 now) loved it so much, the blue flame I called it, these wheels do look great and great job

That looks amazing. Your channel is excellent, your very clear and easy to understand. Maybe I'll buy a ticket but I'm inspired to get one of these. My boss had a raider in 1989 and what a car it was. I remember it having a philips rds stereo which got us all excited 😂 Dangerous in the wet with no abs but fast as hell for its time.
I used the have a Renault 5 Gordinin Turbo back in the 80's,iwhen the GT Turbo came out it wasn't as nice inside as the Gordini,lot's of plastic but i think that was done not only for cost but for lightness.
There was one advertised on ebay about 5 years ago exactly the same as mine and in the description the guy said " the best fun you will have with 110 hp" and i can definitely vouch for that .
Both very fast hot hatches at that time and so glad i had one.

It was only cosmetically different to the other GT Turbos. Nothing was mechanically different. Saying that all GT Turbos were awesome anyway. I had a Pearl white one in the 90s. Was brilliant to drive🥳 until it caught fire. ☹️
corret and id say the removal of the anti perc fan thats not good i had a simmiar issue when id smelt a burning smell.i had the same problem with the reserve tank as well as in this video @@GR666

I had one in the late 1990s. Previous owner upgraded the turbo to 160hp+. Loads of lag but decent power on boost.

Had a grey 89 gt turbo when I was 18, back in the day when insurance want crazy. Great little car, had the boost wound up a bit, intercooler strapped and a scorpion exhaust. Wish I could of kept a lot of the cars I've owned!!
It handled fantastic ,and overtaking cars was a blast drop from 3rd to 2nd and just smile and body popping laughing while I blast past 3 cars no speed bumps back in the day the fun I had in this car in London was gentle my REG was C738ULW.
I welded a good few of these back in the day, so to find one nowadays In good nick must mean it's been well looked after all these years... smashing looking car. 👌

I had a red e reg one ! Those wheels 👌. Mine was a nightmare to keep cold , plenty of blown radiators

You don't seem to really appreciate the French and their production, but experience has shown me that what comes from other countries is not better. When we take good care of a car, almost anyone is pretty good.

Ha ha, I miss the apprentice abuse we could give out years ago. Even I had on fire tennis balls thrown at the back of my head 🤣. Probably would hurt their feelings now
I wanted a turbo raider, as clio was on it's way and could get a good real as my wife's boss was a fleet customer. She put the brakes on that, we were soon divorced and I bought a 205 GTi.

Perfect video and content matey. My first car was a Mk1 GTL, I then went through escorts, golf’s beach buggy’s, and minis all in the 80s, bought my MK1 Gordini turbo in 1989, best car, part exchanged it for a Granada cosworth a couple of years later and it’s my biggest regret. When the Raider was released I’d gone backwards and had a mk2 Mexico. 😢

The raiders were just cosmetic changes to the normal gt turbos. IE the blue paint job, blue alloys and blue flecks on the seats. Nothing mechanical was different. Loving the wheels on this one
One of my teachers in the late 90s had a raider she used daily to come to and from school.
I do like Raiders. A mate has one in his garage that’s been off the road since about 2005.

Lovely looking car that, saw many of these ragged senseless down Southend Sea front in the late 90's early 2000's. Id love one, but wouldnt have the skills to maintain it.

Had one back in 1989! miss it like cracy. 54 years now and looking for another one! just for the summer months. the rear calipers don´t like the snow! they freeze up on the disc.

That is an absolute stunning little car i love them. I always wanted one as a teenager!. Now im 44 i cant justify what they are asking for one!. Not what you can buy with similar money!. Also love the Nova GTE / GSIs too which were the same era.

In my country It was called a blue sports edition. My first car a fire engine red Renault 5 1.7 gtx. I maintained it so good it got up to 500k before dying of old age.
I luv all swb hot hatch ..... FIAT PUNTO GT turbo got a similar engine with the 5 GT turbo
