    Probably my favorite episode of the series so far, or at least 90% of it.
    They really did not cut much this time and what was cut was mostly unimportant. But as always there are a few things I would like to critize/bring up:
    1. Hirata was really done bad by the anime. As another coment already mentioned, he did indeed tried to offer himself multiple times but refused. Additionally his reasoning and logic behind why he wanted to go in without a plan was nearly completely ommited. To add to that they also cut teasers of his backstory in season 2 which would have made his reaction more understandable. BUt well we will probably get that later on. Still, they really cut have put in this extra minute to not make him look like a complete hypocrite.
    2. The Class A expulsion was way more fleshed out. Giving Katsuragi and Yahiko a short scene in the hallway before the day before the voting and a more thorough reaction of both after the vote. They also cut Sakayanagis explanation that she wanted to remove Yahiko so that no one would ever want to side with Katsuragi again out of fear of expulsion.
    3. The scene at the end between Koji, Ibuki and Ishizaki was actually shown before the vote. I like this one better as it made Kojis plan way less obvious.
    4. You mentioning that Sakayanagi being a bad villain and classmates losing trust in her i actually are really interesting points here. I personally didnt think about it at the time I was reading and I will kinda gives me some ideas concerning her character that I will share at the end of the season.
    5. Yamauchi had a talk with Sakayangi about the votes for him and asked her for a contract or something, but she simply gave him a sad "Do you really trust me this little?" and the idiot was completely willing to go along with her plan without assurance. On that note: I really liked Yamauchis VA during these last few episodes. He was so perfectly despicable and pitiable, he will and wont be missed.
    6. Ryuens attacking Ibuki was way less weird in the LN. In the anime it seemed more like sexual assault XD

    Well, Hirata does volunteer himself - incessantly, I might add - but no one wants him out (and the anime just skipped the whole thing). And I guess his point is that, as bad as Yamauchi trying to get rid of Ayanokouji is, it's not as bad as Horikita conducting a witch trial to get rid of him, specially since Yamauchi did it out of fear for knowing he was at the bottom of the class and would most definitely be a target (which is true, that's how Sakayanagi suggested throwing someone else - Ayanokouji - under the bus). I'm just explaining Hirata's thinking, not that I agree... He thinks that, if there's no way to stop someone from being expelled then it should at least be an organic thing in the moment and organizing votes and specially naming someone and trying to convince others is the worst of the betrayals.

      I disagree. I think you are reading too positively into Hirata. He is defending Yamauchi purely because he is hyper-fixated on unity and cohesion above all else, his serious character flaw. His only "solution" is too keep searching until he finds an answer that will save everyone and maintain unity. His hyper-fixation is doomed to fail if there is ever a situation, like now, where a serious division in group unity is forced. His motive is that, he cannot bring himself to make a decision regarding disunity, and mentally it would be much much easier for him to "keep trying" to find a way until the end and the elimination happens by default. This is his way of telling himself it isn't the classes fault that whoever gets expelled gets expelled, because the class never actively chose. I.e. he would rather put his head in the sand and pretend there is no decision to be made than make one. This is why he is angry at Yamauchi (since he was targeting someone with a group) but he thinks it is "better" than Horikita doing same thing (more objectively at that) but approaching the problem honestly and above board. Simply because he cannot bring himself to accept the idea that they could be disunited and "choose" and expulsion. He would love nothing else than to put his head in the sand, but Horikita is saying they must make an active and informed choice. It has nothing to do with "should be an organic thing in the moment". He is trying to pretend the problem does not exist. If he thought that the problem was, as you put, "organizing votes to name and convince others" then he would think Yamauchi's actions are equally bad as Horikita's. But he doesn't. He thinks Horikita's is worse for highlighting disunity. It is pure destructive character flaw. He isn't interested in "what is the best solution" at all if it doesn't involved saving everyone, and he is so single minded on this that he lets out all his emotions at Horikita for forcing him and the class to confront this, for the purely selfish reason that by channeling his (unfounded) anger at her and the situation he can bring himself to vote for someone the next day, since I am sure he was struggling with that very idea too.
      The only solution he ever has in these solutions is to take all the punishment himself. But him getting voted out was never a real option, and we get to see a mentally reaching Hirata because of it.

      Funny but I agree with Hirata's line of thinking, just that logical decisions are considered the most organic in my mind.

    Hirata did offer himself, but it's not shown here. Anime depicts him as a hypocrite here, but he was genuinely trying to prevent targeting.

    People need to know that Sakayanagi doesn't want Ayanokoji to be expelled before their competition 😂
    Yamauchi also made her tripped, so she got her revenge by expelling him

    • @TheGenreVerse
      @TheGenreVerse  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We know she said she would set aside the competition for this "exam" but then she goes and makes it look like she didn't... She appears to "fail" a lot, but we also know some of that is planned.

  • @DiyoAkabane
    @DiyoAkabane 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Plans…fail? Since when did Arisu plans fail? As from what I can see everything has been going according to her thought process. She knew this would happen, she used and got revenge on Yamafuck face expelling him. She also crushed Katsuragi (bald dude) spirit by talking out his right hand man and proving a point. And even back in the whole Ichinose incident, her only goal was to get Kiyotaka involved. Expelling Ichinose wasn’t her goal though it would have been a bonus. She knew how most of this would play out, Kiyo probably thinking damn this girl is dangerous fr.
    Kiyo vs Arisu The final Exam Arc is coming episodes 9 - 11!! You all thought things hit the fan this arc, oh no it’s just getting started

      @TheGenreVerse  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      On the surface it looks like she failed to get Ichinose kicked out on the surface it looks like she failed to get Class C to kick out Ayanokoji. On the surface she seems to not be getting many wins. I even mentioned how having your master plan rely on too many things "failing" seems weird. That's all. We get that there's more going on though... There always is with CotE 😆

      @@TheGenreVerse I understand why anime onlies wil have difficulty with the inconsistencies that come up due to anime cut content. Like Ichinose when she joined Student Coucil she had to confesss something really personal to Nagumo (He was not accepting her initially). Sakayanagi got the info from her and used that to put her through depresssion straight up. I know it doesnt seem a lot but there had been several days and in the Novel we even got to see her pregress worse off. Imagine seeing the most cheerful presence in the school being faint and meek.
      Sakayanagi and Nagumo's impact have straight up been cut (Not that I blame the limitations of the adaptation), these missing info make us feel like Nagumo is just a guy in the chair and Sakayanagi keeps fumbling the bag.
      As a fan of this series I am happy that the series is even getting an anime so I am not gonna ask anymore and be grateful for what I hold now.

    I keep seeing people saying Arisu has been "messing up" her plans...but is she really? She is literally the leader of the top class (Class A). Let's not forget: Yamauchi made her trip in ep 1, and she said "he just made me trip once". I just have a theory ALL THIS was her plan to make Yamauchi get expelled LMAO idk why people keep thinking she is stupid

    Hirata’s method could only have worked if they announced the test and held it the next minute. It would have been forced to be organic. Barring that his approach was impossible and idealistic

    Wasn't yamauchi the target of expel from the beginning after he tripped her off during 1st or the 2nd episode? So if that's taken into consideration everything went according to sakayanagi's plan

    “Sakayanagi is bot a good villain” well guess what, maybe because she is not a villain…? No? These are highschool kids, how can there be a villain. Its all pure and plain meritocracy in this school.

    • @luma1586
      @luma1586 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because a villain is not necessarily a complete monster. In a love story for example, a romantic rival can be a villain. They do not need to be evil, just not good either and rather antagonistic. You can even look at season 1 and 2, Ryuen is clearly a villain there. Arisu is most definitely a villainous character too, at least in this season. Her being a bad villain is up to taste (though I wonder if they mean a bad villain but bad character, or just a bad antagonist in general), but Arisu being the villain is just simple fact.

    • @TheGenreVerse
      @TheGenreVerse  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      She's the antagonist. It's fine to use the term villain. We had villains in school... Relatively. She comes off as having many of her "nefarious" plans failing... That would make her bad at being bad...
      If she's "failing" on purpose, then she's doing it a bit too much to have trust and faith from her "resources".
      That's my take at least. -Kyle
