There are so many people giving tutorials on the internet. It wasn't until today that I could find someone to explain to me why I was having so many water problems, how to avoid them AND how to fix them. You've gained a new student and fan!
Thanks so much. Glad it was helpful.
Very useful tip on fixing hard edges after the painting has dried! And the tip for avoiding them is pure gold. Your transition from the wet area and that painted wet on dry is so natural. Much appreciation, Louise! 🥰 Cheryl
The information on this channel is always incredible, always delivered in such concise, direct way. Thank you so much for this great videos!
This is one of the most helpful tutorials on watercolour I've seen so far. To me, when it comes to watercolour painting, all about water is difficult. I don't seem to get the hang of it - how much water, what paper? It's always too wet or too dry and there are always unwanted water lines and water blooms. This was very useful, presented in your usual wonderful way.
The information you provide about watercolor techniques is superb. Thank you. I appreciate the quality of your videos - they are succinct and straightforward without any annoying chit chat, music, or other distractions like comments such as “I love this” or other exclamations about your work. Your voice is calm and easy to listen to. The photography is very helpful, especially close-ups showing where you’ve wet the paper or the degree of wetness. Your videos and instructions stand far above most on TH-cam.
Thank you very much Marilyn.
Wonderful tips and presentation as always. I had to laugh as I actually really liked how that first “ incorrect” drawn shape turned out. What a great way to get a highlight in the middle and lovely shadows on the edges. Of course if that’s NOT what you wanted then disaster, but I love how you repaired all of these. I just learned that dry hake brush thing this past weekend in a class when my paint was too wet for second layer and had too much bleed. Really works! Thanks for all you give.
Love that tip about not taking the water to the edge, avoiding dark lines enclosing the intended shape. 👍🏼
Glad it was helpful. Thank you!

I had never seen a hake brush before a few years ago when I got a bunch of free supplies, for the longest time I had no idea what to use it for lol
I hope it will be useful for you now.
Hello Louse, At this point when you are doing this video, it looks like you are in your new studio.
Have you released your part 2 of your new studio tour on TH-cam? I am curious as what it looks like now. I am planning a new studio and want some ideas. Thank you for all of your lovely art.
Hi Louise! What tip can you give me to avoid having super dark edges between shapes? I'm experiencing this problem not because of too much water but because I tend to work with multiple layers on multiple areas. The edges are too sharp that it look like I outlined it with pen or some sort.
Hi Adrian. That happens to me too sometimes. If it's bothering me and the colour isn't super dark I'll take a damp brush (just water) and gently paint over the edge. Then I'll use some paper towel to dab at the excess pigment. If the colour is really dark I leave it alone because it will lift off and make a mess if I try to correct it. Watch for waterlines forming if you do that though.
@@LouiseDeMasi TYSM for the response, Louise. I'll take your advice. I always experience this problem and it's annoying sometimes because even if the colors I used are light, the line between the shapes have hard edges. For example I paint a person with a fair skin, the outlines of the arms has dark edges even the background (let's say yellow clothing) has a very light color. The hard edges are caused by overlapping of different colors which I don't know how to avoid.
Can I fix after it’s completely dry?
Can you fix my water colour painting, it has a fix water spots
