Deckard is a character we're introduced to as human and are challenged to decide if he's a replicant. Agent "K" in 2049 is a mirror opposite theme to Dekard. We're introduced to "K" as a replicant and are challenged to decide if he is human (this is a red herring of course) But the point is, the line is so thin between human/replicant that the differences between the two don’t matter anymore. (as far as having a soul, human dignity, value, memories, etc.)

How I see Blade Runner and 2049 is humanity forgetting what makes humans people

Deckard is a replicant based on the reflections of his eyes (the eyes of replicants reflect like a cat's). Non-replicant characters never have their eyes reflect in the same way while all replicants have that affect added. That's ignoring the unicorn dream sequence.
    Spoiler alert:
In 2049, deckard is shown to be a replicant like Rachel (though not a Nexus-6) as exposed by the Wallace during the scene where a replicant of Rachel is brought out. Wallace essentially states that Deckard was a replicant created with the intention for him and Rachel to fall in love and have a child. The child was, effectively, Tyrell's greatest achievement.

Great podcast guys! I really hope you guys would be willing to dive deep into 2049, and maybe an Earthling Cinema take...? It’s a personal all time favorite of mine, and while I catch new things with every watch... you guys seem to draw fascinating parallels & deep cuts that blow my mind with the films you explore... I’m curious to know your take on 2049’s themes of the Eye, Memories, but most importantly, relationships. Especially between K & Joi. Oh and I’m also curious to know your thoughts on Luv’s journey via learned behaviors of her creator (Kissing K when she thought she killed him = Niander Wallace kissing the product after slicing her belly-Killing Lt. Joshi with the belly slice like the aforementioned example)... I feel like these subtleties were intentional, but I can’t seem to connect why...

42:00 Wrong. The director didn't make Ouija, he made the much better sequel, Ouija: Origin of Evil. He also did the horror films Hush, Oculus, and another King adaptation, Gerald's Game

So many people love this movie but I just can't get past the idea that they would make the replicate so discernable from humans. They are worker robots! That conceit just doesn't work for me... Also, there is no indication that Ford's character is a replicant. I think fans just pulled that out of their butts to have something to talk about.. I saw the unicorn as saying that SHE was the unicorn and therefore wouldn't die in four years.

Can you guys breakdown the new Top Gun movie and the manufacturing of and capitalization on Nostalgia? I know it’s become kind of a played out topic for video essays these days I guess... but I’d still like to hear your take on it if it hasn’t already been done.
