Not really a fan of the Meet outfit but I agree that she would look GORGEOUS displayed in her Bollywood outfit. 😍 I’m with you on the plastic thing - higher quality materials would make AG stand out more from other 18” dolls. I got to see her in person today! I didn't buy anything yet but after seeing her in person I'm actually planning on getting most of her collection! Not all of it, but most. When I first saw pictures I wasn't super fond of her meet outfit but it's really growing on me! The furniture is a lot of plastic but for the translucent pieces I'm happy to give them a little more grace there- but yeah, the stage frame and vanity are also plastic and I'm a little less happy about that. But both the director's chair and the stool that comes with the purple table have some good weight to them, so I think they will hold up pretty well! I've decided that when I build my doll house she's gonna share a room with Gabriela- I think their color palettes blend pretty nicely. Not perfectly, but I can see them sharing accessories. Also on the keyboard in the songwriting set, the keys light up! It's really really cute, especially in person. The pieces that I'm determined to get are: Kavi herself, her dog (he's SO cute) the pajamas, her performance outfit, her Bollywood outfit, the songwriting set, and right now my plan is to get the big ticket stage, but only keep the shelves, vanity, chair, and some of the accessories/clothes. I can see myself getting her yoga stuff if it goes on sale, but probably only if it goes on sale.

I feel like there was some stuff about boys when Tenney and the CYO boys came out, but I think this is the first time where boys were mentioned first when marketing American Girl that I can remember. (Boys and Girls, rather than Girls and Boys) I feel the Bollywood outfit will be most in demand. I know I’m buying it as a gift for a friend who is NOT a doll collector. But any representation I think people appreciate and get excited over, I think too it will be something that convinces parents to get her, who before didn’t feel seen. It is definitely a gateway. It kind of stinks there isn’t a non-Bollywood “cultural wear” (a more standard sari, e.g.) option also included too, but understandable… I guess. (I mean maybe they count yoga too lol) but I feel it would be a way for parents to relate/reasons to buy/splurge I think that would be something to be excited about. I like the trunk. I am going to the store soon-ish, to see the collection. The items in the case/larger playset is interesting. I am excited to see the new “historical” dolls. Hopefully they will have a re-release of some of the 90s outfits. I really hope for when the 00s becomes “historical” they make Lindsey or a GOTY the Historical doll (if it’s not Lindsey, there would have to be a mini doll of her like in the Cortney set) and develop their story more over 6 books. (They still do 6 right?) it’s too full circle to pass up.

I know it’s tough because the heart of the brand is to highlight girls’ stories and experiences. But I’m hoping they’re realizing that all children should show interest in that! I think a big thing with plastic vs wood is toy standards have changed over the years. I agree, I prefer higher quality pieces, but I don't think it's strictly a price/quality factor to go with plastic for certain items. That's also why they switched from neck strings to the zip tie on the newer dolls, so they can comply with international standards :)
I absolutely adore Kavi! She’s one of my favorites! So simply gorgeous. I purchased two of them. I never change my GOTY I keep them in their original outfits all displayed behind glass. I have every single Girl of the year and in their original outfits. Some I buy doubles so I can change them. She’s definitely one of the ones I got a second one of. Thank you for sharing your video. I keep hearing "Kuvee". Since her full name is Kavika, that makes sense. As for Marie Grace, I say "Mary Grace" like Marie Claire magazine because I don't like "Marie". I live by an AG store and went to the release of Kavi, though I didn't get her. She is soooo much more beautiful in person; I had no intention of getting her, but now I'm reworking my budget plans so I can pick her up later this year. Her Bollywood outfit actually sold out at my store that day. I really don't love most of her outfits, specifically BECAUSE they give early 2000s energy, lol. I was a 90s kid, too, and I don't want to relive my high school years just yet. I like the Bollywood outfit, and the yoga outfit, which has an adorable meditating elephant on the t-shirt. They did have Kavi in some of the extra outfits in the stores; they're a little scattershot, since they aren't part of a real outfit. The black jumpsuit is kinda cute, though, I thought, but I didn't get to touch it to feel the quality. Thanks so much for going over Kavi's collection! Yes, having pieces that aren't plastic make them heirloom pieces, however as cost of living goes up, if the plastic keeps the cost low to where it keeps it in a price range that is more accessible to more families, I would say the plastic doesn't bother me. Heirloom or collectible items are also items that we cherish and hold on to and pass down. Sometimes as collectors we forget that the target audience for these products are children. And, remember life in plastic is fantastic 💝💖💝💖

I think the doll is really beautiful but I don’t like her collection or the meet outfit. It’s a bit to crazy for me. My 12 year old daughter feels the same😞 She said she doesn’t think any kid or at least 12 year old would dress like that right now.
