  • Psychology Skill of the Week - 'Coping Thoughts'
Welcome to another instalment of Psychology Skill of the Week with school psychologist Dr Carla Humphrys. This week Dr Carla is discussing 'coping thoughts'.
Dr Carla says we all experience challenging situations in life. Sometimes the difference in how well we manage to navigate those situations is what we tell ourselves when they happen.
Coping thoughts can help with this. The goal this week is to create some helpful coping thoughts and practice them in tough situations.
Example of coping thoughts include "I can do hard things", "I won't give up", "it's not as terrible as it seems right now", "I don't have to do everything perfectly", "failures and mistakes are part of life", "I would rather get what I want but I don't have to".
Create some of your own to use in situations that you know you find difficult and practice them regularly.
