What is its purpose?
Actually you never know that may be some stray light (light other than analyte) is also reaching at detector, sometimes may be some other thing is also got excited along with analyte that may also emit radiation. As emission is very sensitive and every photon counts in reading, so just to have extra precaution we use multiple monochromators. Very good question. That means you are learning well. It is always better to use single response device. In double beam space we are using two similar detectors but they are not identical. The difference may arise due to construction limitations, voltage errors etc.
We place detector at right angle only in emission spectroscopy because not to interfere analyte signal with that of source signal. While in absorption spectroscopy like UV, Vis, Ir, we only observe or measure source signal after absorption by analyte, as there is no interference or emissions of light by sample, we only just measure absorbed light by sample, so detector is in line of the source.

In single beam we use the shutter to interchange reference cell and sample cell? If it is right then why we use the same shutter in double beam spectrophotometer while reference cell and sample cell are fixed✨
The purpose of shutter is to make light off and on, in case of differentiating source light from some other light source which is interfering with our actual light coming from source.
