To me, being there in person was awesome, I think the community really oughta support this by being at these events live. The athletic action is as good if not better than heritage semis and finals matches. The sand was conducive to jumping and they don’t have to play thru a main draw which gasses them out. Buying at the UCLA ticket venue was $6 cheaper than buying online ($41 plus $16 for all day parking 🅿️) I’m surprised there weren’t more fans there if there was another 1000-2000 more people there the energy fuel the athletes even more and why not support this and set aside whatever apprehension exists for someone to not support this by being there in the audience.
the production namely the camera angles were really good. keep doing that. But if youre going to make the sets to 15 you have to make the matches best out of 5.
also why the heck is New York vs Brooklyn playing in Los Angeles. I thought the reason for doing teams from cities was to get local fans. This misses the point
Yeah i think the whole city thing is dumb, its not like these players live in those cities or have any connections to them either. Tennis relies on individuals competing in tournaments, why does beach volleyball have to use that gimmick?
Sander blocking rather well on the AVP, while not blocking well enough on the FIVB, shows the quality difference between domestic and international competitions.
BS. While Sweden and Norway are likely #1 and #2, the rest of FIVB is mostly on par with best of the AVP. FIVB favors European players bc most tournaments are there. Get the FIVB guys out in deep sand and serious wind, getting their chuck sets called, and they'll have little advantage on the AVP. But on a good day, all the top teams including the Ta's can beat one the current #1. I'd agree Hellvig and Cheriff, while the same height, are a little better than Sander now, but they've been playing beach longer, and the Ta's find ways to win.
@@travisbrown9936 The Swedes and Norway are great, but the Ta's would find a way to beat them (at times) after a few goes just as Qatar did. And Partain/Benesh got beat in the MBO and could well have again in Chicago if Ta C wasn't injured.
@@nealpobrien Right back at you with the BS. You are well known as a fanatical 'murican with total disregard for anything that takes place outside the US. So your opinion on the matter is worthless. Isn't there a Trump rally you can attend?
So they play one game and just 3 sets to 15 ? Wouldnt this be the perfect chance to play like 5 sets to 21? First beach bo5?, would really be something special and elevate the league. Edit: Just realized they play two games that weekend, but what about a bo5 to 15? That would capture the intensity of the 15 point sets and still give the teams a chance to show who really is the better team.
I really think part of the excitement of old school avp was there was one game, and a double elimination tournament. Its like the nba, what is more exciting, the one game play-in game to make the playoffs, or a best of 7 playoff series? One win or go home game is always more exciting, yeah it doesnt maybe show overall who the best team is, but thats not the most important thing for a series trying to get fans excited. Also i think trying to get the beach game to look more like the indoor game in any way just hurts the beach game.
Well, one set into this and I'm already not a fan of the format. Way too fast. I see some people calling for best of 5 to 15, but those could still be long matches. 21, 21, 15 was just fine. Totally not loving this interesting team set-up and having only these few partnerships.
I used to love watching the old avp with sideout scoring and one game to 15. Then they added that clock to limit the matches for tv. I dont understand why they keep trying to make it look like the indoor game when they should be trying to differentiate them.

Thanks for sharing. Let's hope that the attendance will pick up. I heard that people didn't want to deal with traffic.
Yes. They used to have the Evian indoor events. They also had Team Cup events. I have been a fan since 1989.

AVP, will you be uploading today’s match between Taylor’s and Troy and Tim? I’ll check the Bally’s App replays now

@@nealpobrienI mean the Swedes and Norway would smoke them, and Andy and Miles r the only US team on the same caliber as the very best teams worldwide

Not sure that's a difference of "quality" really he's just undersized for international competition as a blocker.

No shoes for Taylor I see! Fast healer
What the heck is that block 22:48. That dude needs some serious coaching
AVP lost their mind! No one is paying 50 bucks! Someone should be fired, they clearly did no real research.
How's that not a lift at 14:10 after Crabbs monster jump serve
What do you mean? There are two touches a serve receive and a hit, where could a lift be called?

you meant at 30:30

Looks like Cook wore his wife's shorts again...how he's in this league is beyond me...Caldwell looks like gumby when he jumps
Disagree! Cook has highest contact point on his hits, but still hits down and hard. Impressive.
@chrissavage2096 he can hit...he's defense is average at best. Defense is what wins games...good thing gumbys a decent blocker
