Missed the rivalry tie-in when talking about what teams alumni can/can't root for. In Tucson, your second favorite team is whoever is playing ASU that week.
There is no such thing as a "Quality Loss", but the quality of your losses is very important. In my mind, 1 loss to a mediocre, barely bowl eligible team is worse than 3 losses with all 3 losses to the top 3 teams in the country. That's not to say that a 9-3 team should be ranked ahead of an 11-1 team, it just means that the 9-3 team should be ranked ahead in the event that the 9-3 team has an even amount of "Quality / Big Time Wins" as that specific 11-1 team.

Imo Alabam Georgia Oklahoma and OSU have no business being that high. I think Lane Stadium at Virginia Tech , Doak Campbell , Memorial Death Valley, Ben Hill griffin , NCST’s Carter Finley stadium,Neyland Stadium are all more difficult to play in.
Theres a problem I think of when it comes to your ACC argument. How many ACC head coaches get bought out by either the B1G or the SEC by year 1 or year 2?
How many teams like Duke had really good head coaches that eventually get bought out by a deep pocketed team like TAMU? And you’re blaming those same institutions for not stepping up?
They never get the time or chance to build anything up to begin with!

I almost can’t not buy the NCAA game because I have waited for so long, but the offensive rankings release makes me question the quality of the game. Hopefully it is more than a TH-cam-like montage of stadiums and uniforms.

B10(before the merger) is exactly what people think the ACC is. Outside of OSU and Michigan they greatly underachieve they just don’t have a negative media rep. FSU was bad for 4 years outside that they always kept up their end. Miami had definitely dropped the ball tho. VT after 2016 or even a little before that hasn’t been the same. This applies to Georgia tech as well. I do think the teams like NCST and Louisville for their expectations have been good. I just don’t think the conference has ever been nearly as bad as people make it seem.
Hey Josh, thats not the first time Texas did this. Remember this one ? Miss. State under Vic Schaefer ended the most dominant run in all NCAA when they defeated UCONN in the semifinals of March madness end ended a 111 game winning streak ? We went in 17 and 18 to the finals lost both literally by a buzzer beater and the next was Vic Schaefer ended up in Texas. He had 1,6 M Dollar salary in Starkville and left for 2,4 M in Texas. Is 1,6 Million not enough to pay your bills ? Just asking ...I wish Texas goes 9-2 and gets blown out at College Station by 2-3 TD´s and miss the playoffs. I'm a Clemson fan, and I don't buy Clemson as a top 10 offense. That said, I do buy Clemson as a top 5 defense and we should be a top 10 stadium too. But top 10 offense... we should be lucky to be top 25, let alone top 10. And that is coming from a fan.
Big ten plays 9 home games!!!! Nebraska has had how many 5 win seasons in the last 7 years? It makes a difference.
Also. Don't forget the situations they stepped into. Saban stepped into a team that would have a losing season a winning season and then a losing season again. Had 5 different head coaches in a decade. Georgia however had a situation where you had 2 coaches in 13 years and only reason you had that second coach was because you fired mark richt simply because he wasn't getting you the national title. Georgia was consistently winning. So saben comes in and has to refurbish the whole car. It was definitely still a high end vehicle. But it had been sitting out in the weather for quite some time! Kirby got to see under the hood of that car. Saw Georgia and saw that there just needed to be a few tweaks to make it look like sabens car. Kirby is in a sense, just a continuence of Sabens dynasty. Also, while there had been some really good coaches... there hadn't really been a saben in the game. Bear bryant was about as close as you got. Then on top of that. Kirby never did really take the spot from saben. Saben kind of handed it down to him. Its like the difference between a prince being handed the crown living a relative life of luxury and being a very good prince. As compared to his father who had to fight with a not so great hand to take over the crown and did massive expansions. The world will remember the father more! So i think all those things played into it.
1) Kirby came into a really good situation.
2) Kirby is basically just a continuation of Saben.
3) Kirby never really took the spot from Saben.
But thats why i think daboo got more hype then Kirby even though Daboo isn't doing nearly as well now. Daboo did it his way taking over a not so great product and making it great and for a time there it looked like he might be taking it from saben. So daboo got a lot of hype. Kirby..... Its basically like it is expected.
For all you fans that are going to get your panties in a wad. Notice i am not saying kirby is a bad coach. Or that it is easy to do what kirby did. Many men have taken over similar situations and failed. But what i am saying is that Kirby had a MUCH nicer situation and thats why i think he isn't as hyped.

Well out of the 12 teams 4 are conference champs. 1 will be ND unless they suck. 1 will be best G5 team. That leaves 6 spots. Most likely loser of sec title, big10 title get in. Leaves 4 spots for 4 teams with best resume. Win total is irrelevant sorta its who have you beat. If you’re 10-2 with no quality wins vs a 9-3 team with quality wins then so be it.
18:21 the thing about it can best be explained like this. Kirby was a branch off of Sabans coaching tree. Branches never manage to become bigger than the tree. Saban was the tree that all of the branches grew off of. Had Kirby been more successful than 1-4 against Saban, he might’ve had a legitimate argument that he was his own sapling born from the Saban Tree. But the fact that he wasn’t, will inn a way, always be something that is held against him and makes him remain to be a branch. Now, as time continues to pass, he might eventually be able to change that, but it’s going to require him to become the guy who runs his own Urban Meyer out of the sport. Maybe that becomes Dabo Swinneys fate, but in order for that to work, Dabo is going to have to get himself back into consistent competitive relevancy. Otherwise it will just be viewed as Kirby simply out lasted Dabo. Not that he actually influenced his departure. Kirby needs another already well established coach and program to stand up to him and fall at Kirby’s hands. So far he hasn’t been afforded that. And there aren’t a lot of options available to him right now, who have the resume to stand a reasonable chance to live up to that expectation

@@anewworld20231 our starting defense held LSU (and sec team who scored more points than anyone in the country) to 17 points. We had 10 players drafted. Georgia had 8. Even Josh Pate says he disregards the results of that game because our roster was so thin. In this video josh even says if it’s just media hype is the NFL draft in on it to? I think anyone who uses the final score of 63-3 as a barometer for our program doesn’t even try to educate themselves on the college football landscape on a given year. You probably watch very few games outside of UGAs. I was disappointed there were so many opt outs. At the same time a bunch of those guys opted to come back for an entire season after they could have gone to the NFL. I live in the middle of UGA territory and cheer for them regularly. I think UGA was one of the best 4 teams no question on paper. If they were going who were the best 4 on paper they would have been one them. Probably would have beat Michigan. Alabama really should have beat Michigan too but they couldnt snap the ball to save their life. If you go best 4 on paper I would probably go uga bama Michigan Texas. If I go most deserving then Michigan fsu Washington Texas. Either way the committee got it wrong. I have lots of UGA Friends who have enough of a brain to see that. You have probably heard all these arguments though 10000 times at this point anyways. Yet still just stick to final score telling the whole story. That’s why I call you a troll.
I somewhat agree that people shouldn’t be fans of another team from where they went to school. Did my undergrad at BYU and watch every game in the fall. Grad school at eastern Washington (fcs) and follow both of them. However I went with some family to the UW Oregon game last year in Seattle. I just love good college football. I had no dog in the fight, but the Oregon fan sitting in front of me was being such a dick that I became a UW fan for that game. (saw JP on the sideline that game)
I couldn’t disagree more…. If you grew up a fan of a specific team, but went somewhere else for college because they gave you a scholarship or have a better program for (insert major), you absolutely can be a fan of the team you grew up watching and cheering for with your family.
Some of my core memories are cheering for a school i never went to with my dad and sister as a kid.
i’ve grown up a DIE HARD ohio state fan my whole life because of my aunt and uncle, and i live in indiana. i’m probably gonna to purdue, indiana, or ball state for college, but in no way am i gonna not cheer for ohio state just because i didn’t go there.

Josh, I’ve solved the problem - whatever team wins the national championship, their conference gets the most reserved spots for the playoff next year. Second highest ranked team from the next conference reserves the next highest amount of spots and so on.
i just don’t think we should have reserved spots for anything, let alone outside of the conference champ auto bids. i just think it should be a judgement call, and it should just be pretty self explanatory to committee members that a 10-2 Missouri is better than a 10-2 Oklahoma State

You gotta talk about SC, returning a lot of starters on defense and might have the most dynamic QB in the SEC. Also the EDGE room is one of the deepest in the SEC.
CFB playoff slots should be: SEC- 6, BIG- 4, Big 12- 1, ACC-1.

The committee has already shown that the SEC will get benefit of the doubt over any other conference to get into the playoff. Whether it’s selectively applying the term “quality loss” ( Ohio State lost by 1 score to the #1 ranked team and wasn’t even considered), or moving the goal post literally a week before the final rankings, they have and always will bend a knee to the SEC
There's probably a reason for that... the same reason the sec gets leaps and bounds more draft picks than the rest of cfb
I remember a few shenanigans that put Ohio State in the playoffs in the COVID season when the BIG changed rules conveniently to keep Ohio State in contention.

In the Texas constitution, Texas has The University of Texas with 2 main campuses. One in north Austin, the other near Bryan. Later a stray dog walked up. Texas considers aTm a little brother. It aTm wins the next 39 games, they will tie the record. There are 6 (at least) volumes of "101 Aggie Jokes" out there. (aTm didn't have female students until like the 80s). There is a lot of bad blood gonna come out.

Missouri, Ole Miss and Texas are an absolute joke and will suck when they lose their current roster. Michigan, PSU and eventually USC will go 9-3 every year at least.
