Every time I see Martha Karua, I am reminded of the spirit of Wangari Maathai-alive and resilient in Kenya-a gallant woman of integrity and courage. When she was chosen as Odinga's running mate, I was thrilled, though my friends and family thought I was irrational. I am a contrarian, and history has vindicated me 90% of the time. I have great admiration for contrarians and anyone who dares to think differently from the majority. If you see the majority rushing in one direction, you often have a higher chance of being right by choosing the opposite path. Ironically, everyone in the comments now praises Martha, though they once dismissed and insulted her; today, they find themselves crying out for help.
