Nice walkthrough, I decided to add this certification to my portfolio just last week, after a few years a business analyst in the Salesforce world - so far, the trailmix is a great refresher and way to formalize what I've been applying over the years... And there are nice bits and pieces of something new to learn all throughout the materials!

Loved it Question: How difficult would you say is it for an IT Project Manager, with a PMP certification, who primarily worked in application development environment and Agile/Scrum operstionsfor 5 years, to transition into Salesforce BA? Will it take a long time? How difficult would it be? Would that transition be beneficial for a career compared to being a PM? (In terms of salaries and job security ofcourse 😅)
Thanks! Tough question to answer, but I'll have a go at it! Based on your high-level explanation, I see a lot of those skills transferring well to a Salesforce BA. Important to note that to enter the Salesforce BA world it's often necessary to get some Salesforce knowledge (hence why the Salesforce BA certification has a pre-requisite of obtaining the Salesforce Admin cert). But there are Salesforce PM/BAs that don't have certifications and are dangerous in the system. There has definitely been an increase is jobs/security in the cloud CRM world due to a preference to remote work, but I'm not sure I can answer comparing it to a PM.

In my opinion, I'd say #1 requirements gathering/discovery #2 documentation #3 accountability. Salesforce knowledge is important, but the BA can often pass off their findings to a team of admins/architects for the solutioning side.

I'm not confident I can give you an exact number as there are several terms and frameworks that you need to be aware of for the exam. This is very dependent on your learning style. If you feel confident on the trail mix and practice tests, then I don't doubt you can schedule the test a few weeks out to feel prepared. Keep in mind that you can reschedule the exam with appropriate notice if you feel you aren't ready.

The Associate Certificate is for VERY basic Salesforce knowledge. I'd recommend this for people who are brand new to Salesforce or may be struggling with understanding Salesforce overall. The Business Analyst certification combined BA information and basic Salesforce info to show you an be a BA for companies using Salesforce. It's a solid one and wouldn't hurt you. With your background I'm not sure how much new information you'd gain though. In my opinion, certifications aren't the end goal, but a good path for learning.

I don't think it is super necessary. I work with some great PMs that have learned most of their Salesforce knowledge on the job.
