nothing more satisfying than watching a crowd trying to figure out how to ‘dance’ to this wizard’s masterful production. Re-visiting this years later and it is still by far thee most genuine boiler room mix I’ve ever seen
@@mdade9972 That's the weird thing, his music is very danceable - many of his tracks are a simple 4/4 beat with added layers. It's good for just spacing out to
My favorite part of this is how the music is super heady and experimental, but his fans still cheer for him like it's a football match. I'd do the same thing ✊
I love seeing producers/DJs who aren't afraid to start off a live set nice and slow, knowing there is the risk of initially coming across as "boring" to some people in the audience. Delayed gratification at work :)
My attempt at a tracklist 12:00 - Remix of “North To South” 15:45 - We Stay Together (Part One) 16:46 - The Hundred In The Hands - Keep It Low (Andy Stott Remix) 17:18 - Numb 25:13 - Arthur Russell - Home Away From Home (Andy Stott Remix) 27:55 - Bad Wires 36:07 - Stitch House (Unreleased) 42:00 - Up The Box
I saw Andy in the mid 2010s in Krakow and it was the darkest set I’ve ever saw… I dunno what happened but at some point I removed my shoes and danced on a bench while my friend had fever and simply listened to the set sitting with eyes closed
downloaded this podcast and forgot about it came on randomly.. woke up 46 minutes later.. This shit is timeless to say the very least.. Some of the productions in here are truly masterpieces. this thing needs a tracklist though for sure... good lord Andy Stott
It's really good. Hope you get the chance. Watching a video of him doesn't do the sounds justice. You gotta hear it on a big system. I saw him at Pitchfork Festival in daylight, which wasn't the best environment, but it still sounded really good. The sub just came up through ur body. I was like the only one dancing to it too, but it didn't matter. Highly recommend seeing this guy live.
@slytown I saw Andy at OFF Festival in Poland maybe 8 years ago now and I loved Andy's music since he composed Passed me by and We stay together in 2011 but at OFF Festival he disappointed me with his show. But we all have bad days 😸😸 Andy Stott is a genius anyway. EOT 😻😻
Have 0 clue how could you compose such things live like that... Amazing! Btw the crowd was just terrified with his silent-hill kind of music I guess - a pleasure to watch)
The girl with the bottle of alleged wine at 23.45 😂 this man is a treat, no poses , pure authenticity. well executed excellent thought out electronic music 🤘🖤
I haven’t watched many boiler room sets but I love this one. The early Stott stuff I know has a wonderful darkness to it. Like zombies shufflin or something. Cheers.
@@melmagicspell4033 Part of the allure of Andy Stott's art is that it's a little bit unnerving. Sometimes there's a bit of glee that comes from watching people who are just completely out of the loop on that feeling.
Aged P I agree with that. Like 4 years ago he played at FYF in LA and they put him I believe after The Black Madonna and at the same time as Gold Panda at some other stage and the people that stayed at Andy’s set was delightful. But some people were really weirdly confused about why he was on like the dance stage.
Andy's got a tall boy of Red Stripe in front of him, so I'm sure the vibe in the place is pretty chill (isn't that what the boiler room is known for anyway?). What do you want, a mosh pit for this guy? I don't think there's a really dancefloor there, at least people are moving and bobbing their heads, conversing. It's not totally dead.
The Boiler Room audience (with their exceptions) all seem to be like the same types who went on TOTP & The Tube: they werent there to dance or see the performers but just to get their mugs on TV.

Right. You don't have to dance to everything. Would love to see both Andy Stott and Terrence Dixon at a show.

This isn’t even that difficult to dance to. Most of the rhythms are pretty four on the floor
I'd bust out super hard to this, pathetic swaying isn't much of a muster.
This guy is pure dirty / clean elegance.
Alen Djukic .....wonderfully put!:)
imagine this legend doing the sound engineering of a horror movie.
When???
uh, nothing about his style evokes darkness or horror to me.

He is in the future, even now 2022 nothing compares to it!
10 years... still the best br set
It's great but nicolas jaar ..
Hands down! I come back to it every other month ever since
favorite boiler room session of all time
me too !
Yup
This one and the Nicolas jaar one are unbeatable

slytown Cheers for the great insight, I hope so! :-)

Sad thing is I’ll probably never hear him live😕 doesn’t seem like dude plays outside Europe
we always say yes to stott

you like his work as "Andrea" ?
17:25 THAT TRANSITION INTO Numb. Come on guys...
Still amazing. Cant believe its been 11 years
the best set ever all the time
literally no boiler room video even gets close to this one
Jon Hopkins is really good.
true, one of the only others that i revisit often
***** You should check out Genious of Time and Lone Boiler Room sets too.
phon.o is pretty badass too
The Haxan Cloak could be added to this shortlist. His set was pretty next level if you ask me.
I hope from the bottom of my heart that there is still a world to see him live, he is The Reference
What a Wonderful Set!!! Best sound through this hot working day. Min 19:35 is now the right thing to hear, deep emotions...
I just love the way he occasionally stands up straight in a - see what I did there - fashion; like at 6:05. Unbelievable set.
Thank you Stott! and thanks to the Boiler Room too. I'm so glad to hear this tribal sounds.....
Yeah 25:00 is by far my favorite track.

His set was like nothing ive heard.
#new genre coining trigger warning# - 'Sludge House'.......anyone....anyone....i like it and thats good enough for me
seumas Broderick they already coined that term in Detroit a few years back it’s called Detroit sludge
ANDY knows how it's done
I love seeing people not know what to do at the start of this set
+Charlie Gearon People was not ready for that
why?

The best live dj set i've seen
Oh is it because a dj set is playing other peoples music? Not too familiar with the terms
uses ableton live
gotcha. still, best live set ive seen
