Many thanks for this tutorial. I treated myself to a PS4 pro and it sounded like a jet plane on first play! Followed your detailed guide and is now whisper quiet. Best wishes and good luck for 2025.

@@andymaverick I have fix my ps4 and re-applied thermal paste but my problem is once I try to start a game the screen goes static and then the ps4 shuts off black screen dead! I try to press the button but it doesnt work and I have to re-plug the power cord to turn it back on.
Thanks for the guide, it helped a ton. My model of Pro had an additional cover over the CPU bracket that yours seems not to. Screwed down with 8 small black screws. I cleaned the fan blades, blew out the heatsink, and replaced the thermal paste and my PS4 is running nearly silent now.
Your welcome. I know that one, I think it's the CUH-7200 Pro that has a metal cover over the CPU.You done great, I hope your PS4 will serve you well for years to come.

I did a thermal paste change on my PS4 slim and the processor seemed a bit smaller on mine. Also I used the dot technique on mine and applied very little thermal paste (did a glass test) and worked great. I would recommend doing a glass spread test for peace of mind (made me feel more confident while not overusing the paste. From what I have read the thermal paste is not conductive so there is no risk there. Great video!
Thanks for this step by step video. Just got my hands on the latest 7216 and it desperately needed a cleanup. Heatexchanger was clogged. Fan was filthy and just overal heavily dusty on every bits and parts. New paste and pads was needed. Also found two places where it looks like to have been water exposed. OR the manufacturing process uses flux? dunno, cleaned it anyway.
Your welcome, I'm glad I could help. It sounds that system needed some love. The two places that you are talking about should be flux, I seen them before on ps4 pro motherboards.
Thank you for the guide. Ps4 was sounding like it could cause hearing loss, now i can barely hear it over game sounds. Thermal grizzly kryonaut and minus pad worked wonders.
You definitely added too much thermal paste. I recommend putting some on and then using a flat plastic piece to spread the thermal paste evenly on in a thin film. If you just put a big glob on it then when you press down, it will expand outwork greatly, which just means more cleanup next time.
You're both right, I got carried away and put too much. Spreading it with a plastic card is the way to go. It will be harder for me next time when I wan't to clean and change it.
The security screws are TR9 torx's the rest are philips head screws. Hope this is helpful for you, I didn't check what size I was useing for the philips heads. If, you own a set of screwdrivers you should find the correct one that fits in size. I'm glad you fund my video helpfoul.
Dose it matter, I used a t30 paste and it’s still working good. Got it for 10 bucks at Best Buy. They had another past for 17 bucks. I think it was t45 or something like that.
Hy. There are plenty of shops doing this service. If I were you I would find a reputable place locally to do it for me. Feel free to ask me if you have more questions.
To be honest I never bought a GameStop refurbished console before but there are mixed revives about them. I would not recommend them but they give you warranty so you can't go too wrong. You could check ebay, there are some reputable sellers there.
Can i take the mother board out to replace the rhermal paste without opening the other side like the power supply and the other stuff? Because i have one of the power supply screw stuck i couldn’t open it
@ thank you I took it out But I had other problem When i turn my ps4 on i get blue light of death could the problem be from the power supply? If I replace the power supply will it work?
@@Ahmed-bi3ye The BLOD could be many things. First of all, did this problem happen before or after you tried to repair it? It could be a power supply issue, it could be a port issue and it could even be a hard drive issue. I’d suggest trying to check your ports for damage o and connection first since that’s the easiest thing. After that, if you have a laptop sized sata hard drive that *is not being used and doesn’t have important data,* then you can try that and see if anything happens.
If I understand correctly your machine is hot but it's blowing out hot air, then everything is fine. If not make sure that your fan is plugged in. You can also change the thermal pads if the're worn out.
I'm sorry to hear that. Its, a common problem with these connectors, I tried warning everyone in the video to be cautios about it. The pads under the connector are fine or they ripped?
Thermal paste *AND* 80 mm Fan grill mod, preferably one with a dust filter like the SilverStone SST-FF81B. You need both if you want to keep the PS4 Pro quiet. You need to align the Fan grill with the PS4 Pro Fan, there are several TH-cam tutorial videos where you can see the distances.
Not really, the PS4 Pro needs to have its entirety filled with paste, it is NOT a CPU, it is an APU, it is different. But sure, maybe a tiny bit less would've been enough to fill the entire thing.
Inaccurate information. You are covering the lid only, not filling the entire cavity with thermal paste. If what your saying is true - then half of the AMD processors would have paste applied different then their siblings. center dot - center line or surface spread. Not caterpillar blob. @@ignacio6454

Is replacing the thermal pads necessary?
It depends on the state of them. If they're dry and brittle then sure, replace them. Mine was in fair condition so I left them.
You'll also need to find a video on removing stripped screws, especially if you've already done this lol
Can i take the mother board out to replace the rhermal paste without opening the other side like the power supply and the other stuff? Because i have one of the power supply screw stuck i couldn’t open it

Hi my ps4 pro got struck by lightning ⚡ could power pack possibly be damaged?
If it does nothing when you plug it in then most likely your power supply went bad.
After applying thermal paste in ,is it normal that while playing games it will get hot but fan sound will be silent?

Do you need to apply the thermal paste to both the CPU and heatsink or CPU only?
You don't need to apply it on both the heatsink and the CPU. Apply it only to the CPU.
