I've just spent the most enjoyable 50-odd minutes watching this. Thank you. 😂 We had a Scalextric set in the 80s (actually I think we may have had two as we made ours really long and moved all of my parents furniture out of the way to accommodate it 😂) and ours worked really well! We spent hours racing against each other and the cars would go so fast. I still remember the smell of a Scalextric set and the feel of the scratchy controllers!

  • @WAYNEMODELBUILDER

I think the corners are like that to act as a banking to keep cars on track, this is a blast from my younger days 😆👍

  • @stormchaser300

TAKE THE CARS APPART AND MAKE SURE THE WIRES HAVENT COME OFF THE MOTERS SOME OF THE MOTERS MIGHT BE BURNT OUT. YOU CAN SWAP THE GOOD ONES AND PUT THEM ON THE GOOD CARS WITH THE GOOD WIRE MESH THAT CONTACTS THE TRACK. ALSO MAKE SURE THE TRACKS ARE EVEN ALL THE WAY AROUND I WOULD PUT IT ON A FLAT TABLE RATHER THAN FLOOR BORDS.ALSO CLEAN THE JOINS ON THE TRACK WITH 180 GRIT FINE SAND PAPER AS WELL AS THE TRACK RAILS AS WELL THEN WIPE DOWN WITH METHALATED SPIRITS OF ISOPROPASOAL ALACAHOL.ALSO IT YOU SEE SPARKS WHERE IT MEETS THE TRACK THAT MEANS IT GOOD.

I have the same set in my shed, but the box has had it, as Per railway you need to clean the rails and also the motor electrics, you can get motors or the gears easy online. there is a few types of track ; micro and then like yours the full size (lollypop joiners) and the clip together, there is also like the railway system controllers like you have and digital where the track is live and a digital signal is sent to the correct car or train or accessory. clean the tracks but note the tangs at the joints clean them and under the rails where they contact. Also sticky up the rear tyres, take them off the rims work them to soften them, refit them and roll them on the sticky side of masking tape, also "mag track" the metros I think have magnets in the Bottom to hold it to the rails but add or change them for new Neodymium ones. OH and Chris will not get rid of it when he finds out you can get a Scalextric Ford Transit !

Oh bugger I always wanted a set back in the 60s, only affordable one track and one car, still have them, but 3 years ago on my retirement I purchased many hornby railways sets and absolutely rubbish Chinese crap, I spent $3.000 of my savings and it's basically rubbish. Hornby manufacturing is rubbish, $500 for each locomotive and it's rubbish,

I had a new metro turbo in 1986 not that great but good times … thanks guys for reminding me 🧠💪🤝💚.🙏

  • @neilthomas4407

I'm sure in the 80s there was a TV advert the red car and the blue car had a race! Think it was for chocolate. Great vid as always folf. Keep them coming.

  • @markwilliams5654

It's really bad quality from the 80s it is a joke and rip off when new 😮

  • @stephenwhite4293

The curves are banking originally they came with triangular pieces with a stepped side to hold the banking in place at 13.20 you pick up the wedges. It’s an oval not a flyover set.The cars are a lot lower quality to my 1960 set best fun both on same track trying to catch the other.

  • @ZonkedCompanion

I have that exact mighty metro kit from when i was a kid. Still works.

  • @97catalunya

I used to work in a hobby shop back in the day and we was a Hornby/Scalextric specialist 🤓 many hours of sore fingers from clipping that track together haha.

  • @VanlifeHQ
