Sell the team but don’t move the team from Chicago. Another consideration to be aware of is that there is a committee in Austin TX that came together this year formally to lobbying for establishing a MLB in Austin. I’d rather he sell the team to someone who really wants to support the development of a winning franchise. I’m with Pritzker, no absolutely not, the state should not help support a new stadium especially that of a losing franchise. The field is already called Guaranteed Rate formally, although none of us call it that, and we get a bad wrap being dubbed the poor man’s team. Next thing you know they’ll start saying we’re a welfare team because we had to get the state to support a new stadium. Most of the fan live on the Southside or in south Chicagoland and a good number even live around Wrigley and come in on the train. The location is perfect. Quiet working class neighborhood with the train right there where you can still go where baseball is baseball unlike Wrigley. One of my most recent memories was walking out on 31st from Franco’s after watching the game with some friends at the bar. next thing yknow I hear chants from 35th “FIRE TONY!” And I whip around with a big grin on my face and there everyone is chanting with Tony waving everyone off. It was perfect but who knew it could get any worse. Maybe it is all a game and we’ve been played all along. Too bad we weren’t played by Rothstein. But there it is isn’t it he wants a new stadium to be like Wrigley as another venue for him to make more money right? Because South Loop doesn’t have enough traffic. Money better spent building a winning franchise.
