It was awful but we only saw one area of dripping paint. It's not acceptable but they're allowed to go back and fix it. If the plantiff had had given them a chance to fix it and it was still bad, then they'd be in trouble but "You painted it all and I don't like this one area, I'll give you a fraction of what I think it's worth" fucked him.
It looks like the linoleum got torn when they moved the stove, happened to me, judge claiming she comes from a construction family she should know this 😬
That painter done a horrible job. I would not want them back to paint anything if it looked like that. I hate painting and not that great at it but it never looks like that when I paint. The drips and runs are ridiculous and terrible.
I have those exact markings in my linoleum kitchen floor... i mean exactly the same, and it is from me moving my fridge to clean behind it. I was so upset when it happened. The fridge was just too heavy and the linoleum to thin and weak to have that weight dragged on it and it ripped apart. You wouldn't think that is what the rip would look like from that, but that is exactly what it is. This happened when they moved the stove.
Dear judge, being related to someone doesn't transfer information or expertise to you. Imagine if a litigant came into the court and said well judge my car was making noises and since my dad is a mechanic I know exactly what it will take and cost to fix the issue. Ahhh it doesn't make sense and is completely insane to repeat at nausea. Imagine if her kids go around saying they are experts at being a judge all because their mom played one on t.v.! Wonder what she would say about her adopted expertise...??
I mean while you are right, she is right too. There are people who have learned a trade solely because a family member works in that trade. So BOTH view points can be true at once. There are plenty of people who say “Oh my dad is a mechanic and I’ve picked up a lot of knowledge from him”. Yeah you don’t know EVERY THIN, no one does, but that doesn’t mean that she knows absolutely nothing. Also, there are times when she has called a recess to go do research about a certain company, product, trade etc. She also does research BEFORE cases and sometimes during a case she will call a recess to do research, if needed. So it’s not this extreme “one way or another” like you pea brains think everything is 😂
I hate the whole "I'm a contractor's daughter". He had a receipt showing what he paid to correct the shoddy work and that's what should have been used.
People inflate quotes all the time. He didn't even have a bill. It was an affidavit from the second painter. Who could've said it cost $1500 to correct. He could've made up any number to help this guy's case. My point is, it doesn't cost $1000 to fix a $1700 paint job for a few paint runs. I am a project manager for a remodeling company. We often have to touch up paint. The cost to touch it up is never 50% of the full price of the job was. And they never gave this man the opportunity to correct it without making complaints and threatening him.

2 thoughts. First, those cuts to the floor don't look recent. They look old. The edges are ragged, curled and darkened, just like you see with old cuts where dirt and debris has collected and darkened it. Second, no competent painter leaves drip marks like that. That is so bush league and requires a little more work than just a "touch up"
Back into the fray, after replying to one too many "who's Freddie Jackson" comments on the other vid. Save some cases for my dinner, TPC! xD I've only got a little bit of time before then!

only then she'd have said "why did you have him come back the next day if you had a complaint", "why didn't you file a complaint instead of having him back in the next day", "that's what most people would have done," blah blah blah
Nobody said where the vinyl floor got damaged. Did it get damaged when the stove was pulled out or pushed in? You should wait to sue until the contractor is completely done. Take pictures and then discuss the job with the contractor. Give the contractor a chance to fix things. The plaintiff went to the barter company hoping for a cheap job. It ended up costing him dearly. I was a contractor and never agreed to the barter system.
how do you rule on something that you dont know the truth to??? this is how the legal system is sooooo f'd up. crazy thing is....we've been so propagandized here in this country that we think this is ok.
Wait no, not on the floor, wrong. It seems really clear to me that the stove feet cut into the linoleum when the owner told them to move it, which wouldn't be their fault. I have literally caused that same exact shape of cut in my linoleum floor from the back and forth pushing of my stove feet digging in and ripping. I guarantee that's what that was, it was even in that same shape, the corner and then the matching other side where it was pushed back. That was caused by the foot of the stove. That would not be their fault.
I bet people don't know that Curt Chaplin, the guy outside in the hallway at the end, is also the one who does the intro. Just throwing that out there. No real reason. 🙂
Sorry, but that dude looks slimy as hell. It takes people of a certain personality type to works in collections and places like the irs. They get off on getting one over on the people they're collecting from. So while I think that painter needed to correct the bad spots, I don't think that guy should get a whole new job and I believe the painter about what the guy said to him.

Two reasons paint drips
1. Too much paint, needs a few coats.
2. Walls were not prepped amd cleaned with TSP.
