Steam for Mac sucks

- Steam for Mac came out and I succumbed to the hype. Then it crashed my system, broke my color settings, slowed my startup, and I STILL didnt play the game.
I don't understand the hype around this oversized blog and download manager.

Windows is what you need, not Mac. Also, read up on computers, coding, and how engines work. Steam wasn't designed for Mac, they were nice and tried to make it work for your shitty OS. Thank them for having to deal with that hell-hole of an OS.

This reminds me of when my parents bought my brother a Mac Pro for college about 2-3 years ago. So my brother calls me because he turns on the Mac Pro and it asks to connect to the internet which he did not have access to at the time ( just moved to Chicago). He then assumes that if the Mac does not have immediate access to the internet then he cannot use the computer.
I can't tell if Mac makes people less intelligent or just more lazy in attempting to find answers to simple problems.
How you actually managed to make Installing steam look even REMOTELY hard is beyond me...

Obviously, we need to establish some minimum standards for computer access that will prevent helpless individuals from causing harm to themselves and others. Persons such as this man will still be able to function in society, but they need to be restricted from using dangerous machines.

WOW. I just realized that every argument he made against Steam can be thrown at iTunes as well. And iTunes doesn't even need to install games, just download mp3s, which CAN be done from a website.

Mac Sucks.
I agree with every word he says. I have currently 120 hours into TF2 and it hurts to play the game every time I load it up. But the game is simply too damn fun, especially with a spy. It's a shame it has to use Steam though but it is a Valve game.
You could have bought 4 gaming PC's for the price of one shit Mac. You could have also bought one real bad ass gaming PC as well!

I know how to deal with all the little inconveniences Steam throws at me, but that doesn't stop me from raging even harder than this guy when I have to unexpectedly spend a few minutes troubleshooting.
I also love how he complains about the game not running properly when it was stated by steam that his video card is not compatible... I mean seriously? Even after the program telling you 'The game won't play on your hardware' you still expect the game to play on your hardware? I knew some mac users were stupid but goddamn! Honestly this guy was ahead of his time.
I'm using a mac, it never broke my system, my color settings and never slowed my startup.
This guy epitomises typical Mac users, and so his points are all perfectly valid points. Steam may seem awesome and easy to use for most PC users, but for most people they see Steam just like this guy. Steam does have a long way to go before it is accepted into the mainstream.
This is the perfect example of an average Mac user. People Mac is for video editors! Not for hipsters!

The title is wrong. It shouldn't be "steam for mac sucks" it should be "mac sucks"
Why spend more for a Mac, when by buying a PC, you could;
1: Actually play Steam games.
2: Prove you have common sense, and protect your system with an Antivirus like a NORMAL person.
3: Prove you're not lazier than people with PCs, with the above reason.
4: Save money.
It's not just for mac. I didn't have internet for 2 months and couldn't even play in offline mode because I needed an update but no net to download it. Steam blows but I love Gabe.

Chances are you wouldn't have be able to solve the puzzles in Portal.
steam warns him that portal wont run, critisizes the game for not being able to run, as if its the game's fault.

That was perhaps true in the mid-90's, when certain software was mac-exclusive. These days, there are multiple excellent alternatives on all platforms, making that stale old argument irrelevant.

Dear God guys. It's not the Mac hardware's fault. To see for yourself, install Windows using Boot Camp on a Mac, and play the same game on both operating systems. Performance on Windows blows OS X's out of the water. That goes for the client itself as well. On Mac it's sluggish and glitchy, and freezes up the system, while it does not do that on Windows.
