    once you get the whole front suspension together on the frame.......Clear coat the whole deal (from the firewall forward)with 2 coats of clear. Other wise ,in less than 6 months, that pretty black frame and suspension, will be held together with rusty ass funky bolts and hardware. Even stainless will eventually rust. Clear will make it look great for a long time.

    I know this is a 3yr old video but I came across it because I'm in the same process with my 1961 Galaxie. The "anti-harsh" cammed bolts were only used in 63-64. My 61 has straight bolts in the lowers. Also, my upper control arms do not have dust covers at the pivot, and my suspension has never been disassembled so I'm thinking they just didn't use them on earlier years. I do want to replace the o-rings in them but I haven't seen them for this specific application. Did your rebuild kit come with the o-rings? I'm thinking I'll just buy some high-quality, closely sized new ones, unless someone makes exact replacements. Great job on the finish for those parts!

    Love your channel and long time subscriber. I wanted to ask you about the born again classics offset shafts and whats your thoughts on them three years after your video? I have a 63.5 galaxie "lowrod" and she needs a front in rebuild and was curious before i break the bread for them. Thank you for any info, BVS.

    Hi wondering if anyone has advice time building a showroom 1960 ford galaxy and want to swap from the burnt out 3 spd manual Columbia shift to an automatic how easy would this be to set up the shifter at the column would I have to find the shift rods and column from an automatic or can I keep the same column?

    Hi, great video, I would have used red Loctite the ball joint bolt's and TQ the hell out of them, lol also spray all bolts with Clear/satin, keeps the rust away, this Car is going to be a lot better then your truck, not saying the truck is bad , but this is going to be BAD lol 3.40 rear gear with a 4 speed ( auto/manual) and a 302/5.0 my kind of build!

  • @TBullCajunbreadmaker

    If I were to pick an old car to be-build I would choose a 64 Galaxie 500 XL if I can find one. I had two before and I found them to be almost bulletproof and easy to hop up.

  • @JalopyJockey
    @JalopyJockey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Were you able to get it into a shop to get aligned yet. I’m wondering how that goes. The front cranked bolt is in a down position and the LCA on these cars are formed to match. When you put in a straight bolt, it raises the front bushing position of the LCA up. It could also cause binding being out of plane with the rear. Ideally, one would swap to 1962 LCAs. Just curious if you noticed any effects from this, or if it is too minor to matter.

    Thanks for the great video of the offset shaft bolt replacement. Soon you won't need two different sized sockets as they are going to be made with 1 7/8' stock that we obtained a large amount of. They have a patent pending on them as it stands and as soon as the patent is issued a number will be stamped on the side of one of the flats. And yes, if you are doing this front end rebuild, don't do the whole job and then try to change those as that will cause you a lot of extra work.

    look into the tow in and tow out front brace bar that is available for these cars. Greg Donahue 63-64 galaxies sells one. It bolts on to those lower control arm bolts and keeps the front end straight in fast stops or WOT starts. I have on in my 64 Galaxie.

    For your bench grinder,take a steel dually rim and weld a 1/4 plate to it and then use a 3/16 inch wall piece of steel pipe welded to that and weld a plate to the end of the pipe for a mount for the grinder

    • @davidkeeton6716

      I was going to tell him to get a worn out 18 wheeler brake drum, almost any truck shop or dealership will have some laying around and will probably give you one. Because it weighs around 100lbs you can put some force against the grinder.
